    It could be both reasons. Either you didn't save it successfully even though you touched "save" or there were bugs.

    So who started the rumor that you have to get the big pool it before 15 years to keep it in the next playthrough? I've looked all over and it doesn't say it anwhere.

    Now I am in a deficit in Year 2! Too bad that the negative figure is greaten. What a shame! Thus to start a new game again is the best way out!

    As I mentioned to a few people, I'm writing a guide which I'll post here and on GameFAQs when I'm done. Originally I just wanted to make a list of investments, but I've added a few more stuff. If you have any layout/strategies to suggest, post them here, if you want to include it in the guide let me know as well, I'll include you in the credits. So far I'm just waiting to finish off a few investments and the first version will be up.

    Yeah, I just had 20 of both in my second game, and the Pond investment popped up the following month. I've had 19 Stones planted, so it doesn't seem like you need all of them to be in your inventory.

    Might be kinda late for this but sometimes when I want to press continue on the main menu, I press on the New Game instead, although there's a pop-up which asks you to confirm Yes/No, if you (like me) just spam presses you might end up deleting your save that way. :X

    It's not always obvious how you're meant to progress, we played for a good few hours before we even understood how the advertising worked. It's an important element of the game, so we're happy at having wasted precious years not implementing it properly.

    • To get VIP Room, you must get all the 49 targets to at least 90/95 Popularity. Then you will unlock an investment called 'Kairobot'. Pass him to unlock the VIP Room.
      Anything within 5x5 squares of VIP Room get 'All UP' except for Baths.
    • To get Large Bath (M), Large Bath (W). You have to hit Number 1 on all 8 Guides, and unlock an investment called 'Chimpan Z'. Pass him to unlock both Large Baths.
      Large Baths takes up 2x3 spaces and cannot be rotated.

    Bath Effects
    • Jacuzzi (Seniors) - 1 Vending Machine + 2 Natural Stones
    • Spa (Adults) - 2 Pachinko Machines + 1 Massage Chair + 1 Lantern
    • Silky Smooth (Women) - 2 Salons + 1 Azalea + 2 Natural Stones
    • Fast Friends (Groups) - 2 Karaoke Rooms + 1 Ping Pong Table + 1 Azalea

    I'll share my layout for Female Bath getting the below stats.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    AVSNNSA
    XXXBBXX
    AVSNNSA

    A - Azalea
    V - Vending Mchn
    S - Salon
    N - Natural Stone
    X - Road
    B - Bath (W)

    This is after the use of Glamour Seed. And I strongly urge you to get the Number One in the 'Glamour Springs' guide as your first aim. It help boost a lot earlier as your Bath (W) would be very effective in increasing popularity. To get 'Silky Smooth', simply use the item 'Milk' on your Bath (W).

    I have not found an optimum layout for Bath (M) yet. And hope that someone out there that have found it would share it with us. :)

    Guidebooks
    • Local Srings - Housewife + Hiker + Student (Popularity of Facilities)
    • Prefectural Springs - Nurse + Student + Biz-woman (Popularity of Facilities)
    • Touring Japan - TV Host + Pop Singer + Biz-man (Popularity of Facilities)
    • Le Nichelin Guide - Rich Couple + Rich Heir + First Lady (Popularity of Facilities)
    • Glamour Springs - Biz-woman + Booth Babe + Pop Singer (Popularity of Facilities)
    • Top 100 Springs - Prgrmmr + Biz-woman + Painter (Bath Effects)
    • Gourmet Springs - Nobleman + Biz-woman + Novelist (Popularity of Restarants)
    • Relaxing Springs - Prgrmmr + Pop Singer + Novelist (Scenery of Facilities)

    The 3 listed beside each guide is the target that you should advertise to when you enter the guide. The brackets indicates what you should concentrate on to do better in the voting.

    Take note here that topping Relaxing Springs will get you 'Relaxation Seed'.
    Topping Glamour Springs will get you 'Glamour Seed'.
    I can't remember which one gives you 'Fame Seed', so if someone knows I would update it here. Thanks!
    Edit : 'Fame Seed' comes from topping 'Top 100 Springs', thanks to sokolov22. :)

    To get 'Pond', you must have 20 of Lanterns/Natural Stones. They can be mixed example having 10 Lanterns and 10 Natural Stones. Do not worry why it isn't unlocked straightaway after you have them. You have to wait till the following month after you acquiring the Lanterns/Stones. (As I saw in someone's post, those that are built are also counted towards the 20. As I did not test it myself, I would not claim it as my discovery.)

    That's all I have to share for now. I'll be porting all this over to an excel sheet during my free time for easier viewing. I hope those that have found other stuff will share too! :D

    Some people have posted earlier in the thread that you only need 20 of both in any combination, but for myself I've had 10/10 for a few years without unlocking it, when I bought 20/20 it unlocked the following month. So maybe it differs somehow.

    Anyway, I actually started writing a guide yesterday, just finished noting down all the investments, only need to put it in proper formatting. I'm planning on putting it on GameFAQs too, do you mind if I include your layout in the guide? With proper credits of course. :)

    I'm fine with it, take whatever you need from the post. As long as credits is given. It's always nice when people share stuff around. Keep the posts coming! :D

    Alright, thanks! I've actually finished up the formatting for investments, but it's in FAQ-format so I'll have to re-format it for the forum. Should be ready later on! :D

    Edit// Don't have the full investment list in forum format yet, but here's the tech tree:

    Antique Dlr -> Fortuneteller -> Tea Expert -> Opera Sngr -> Rich Missus -> First Lady

    Biz-Man -> Prgrmmr -> Researcher -> TV Host -> Pianist -> Trader -> Nobleman
    Biz-Man -> Yng Couple -> Yng Family
    Biz-Man -> Manager -> M. Artist -> Old Couple
    Biz-Man -> Manager -> M. Artist -> Novelist -> G. Manager -> Secretary OR Painter

    Painter -> COO -> Governor -> Legislator
    Painter -> COO -> CEO -> Rich Heir

    Biz-Woman (50 pop) -> Illustrator -> Cartoonist -> Booth Babe -> Model -> Lawyer -> Celebrity -> Pop Singer

    Housewife -> Pastry Chef -> Journalist -> Announcer -> Nurse -> Actress -> Chairprsn -> Noblewmn

    Student

    Year 1 Month 11-> Hiker -> Fisherman

    Land Deed II -> Landlord -> Comedian

    Nobleman + Noblewmn (0 pop) -> Rich Couple

    The list directly follows the previous one where you have to get Popularity to 30 to unlock the next tier, unless otherwise stated (Rich Couple and Illustrator). Some I'm not sure of, like the Young Couple, which is unlocked by the Botanical Garden investment, but I'm not sure if it's unlocked over game progress naturally, or by Biz-man.

    Is it possible to unlock them all in one 15 year game? Is there enough time to get the popularities up?

    After some planning, I've managed to "convert" the layout for having all bath effects to work with large baths. You can also choose to replace the plum trees on the left and right of the souvenir stands with roads. This will make the souvenir stands accessible but lowers the scenery somewhat. I chose to ignore their inaccessibility.

    My current layout:
    [IMG]

    I don't have all the rooms yet... nor full size plot.

    (I spent about 8 hours working on this "offline," lol. I realized after awhile that I was not going to be satisfied trying to work it out in-game!)

    Women's Baths
    Jacuzzi - 3 Hearts
    Spa - 1
    Silky Smooth - 3 (1 from using Milk, 2 from facilities)
    In-Crowd - 1
    Youth - 5
    Adult - 5
    Senior - 4.5

    Men's Baths
    Jacuzzi - 3
    Springerade - 3
    Youth - 4
    Adult - 4
    Senior 5

    (I wanted to get In-Crowd into the Men's Baths too, but couldn't figure out how to get 2 Azalea's into range of the Men's Bath.)

    Every room is serviced by one Massage Chair and one Vendor, with the Western Rooms further boosted by the Restuarants All the Salons are strategically placed to take advantage of the other rooms that relate to it, other rooms receive the same treatment where possible.

    Empty spots are for scenery that don't matter.

    Key:
    TR - Tatami Room
    WR - Western Room
    V - Vending Machines
    MC - Massage Chair
    C - Cafe
    FT - Fortune Teller
    SS - Shop
    R - Restuarant
    RR - Reading Room
    S - Salon
    L - Lantern
    B - Bamboo
    N - Natural Stone

    (Changing from my old setup that got Rank 2 in Top 100 Springs with 4200ish votes... netted me over double the votes to 8600ish.)

    Can you get more than 1 Glamour Seed? I didn't use mine on the bath =(

    I managed a setup that gives 5/5/4.5 anyway, but it takes up a lot more room than if I had used the glamour seed on it!

    Also, Fame is from Top 100, just got it with my new setup :D

    I don't think you can get another unfortunately. At least even when I played till Yr 70+, they didn't give me another to buy in the shop. Seems to be a unique one. What did you use it on?

    Submitted my guide already, I'll edit the content and post it here in awhile.

    I would say Pachinko Machine, based on the layout.

    Yep, for the 4 seeds you get from Guides you'll only get it once.

    Btw, how did you get all 5 hearts for the female bath in your earlier layout? I've tried replicating it, and I had 5/5 and 4.5 for Seniors. To break it down:
    Youth: 2 base + 3 Silky Smooth
    Adults: 2 base + 3 Silky Smooth + 1 Spa
    Seniors: 2 base + 1.5 Silky Smooth + 1 Jacuzzi = 4.5
    Am I missing something? :S
