In Hostage Negotiator, you play the part of a law enforcement agent responsible for negotiating the release of hostages taken by an unscrupulous figure hell-bent on having his or her demands met. Each turn in the game represents a conversation between you and the hostage taker. You'll play cards and roll dice to increase conversation points, decrease the threat level, and release hostages. Hostage Negotiator uses a unique "hand-building" mechanism that puts cards you purchase directly in your hand for next turn rather than leaving you wondering when the cards will show up like in deck-building games. In Hostage Negotiator there are multiple paths to victory, but the hostage taker has other plans. Will you try to calm him and get him to surrender? Will you stall and bide your time before sending in the team for a major extraction? How many hostages will you save? These are many of the exciting decisions you will make in a game of Hostage Negotiator! Features: Play against 4 villains, each, with their own personalities. Interactive tutorial teaches the rules and basic strategy as you play. The app tracks a variety of player statistics. StratAll Well-Known Member Dec 24, 2009 160 17 18 #4 StratAll, Feb 13, 2018 The game reminded me of Frost. There is a lot of atmosphere and the gameplay is good. The tutorial is comprehensive. There are statistics on times won and lost. Only negative is the graphics that could do with an upgrade. dirtschmooz Well-Known Member Apr 9, 2015 50 0 6 #5 dirtschmooz, Feb 15, 2018 no iphonex support either. Impressions after 5 days: No brainer...Do yourself a favor and buy it ($7.99 in Australia, no better value to be found). From my investigation this is the official mobile release of a solo card game that has been available for a few years. Games generally take between 10-20mins to play. Gameplay run through videos can be readily found on YouTube in need. App includes a very good tutorial which can be turned off and on as you wish. Also includes stats and an extremely large number of achievements to strive for if that is your thing. Having played it for 5 days now (consuming a lot of my limited spare time) it kind of reminds me of playing Pathfinder Adventures in that you make decisions to help build a deck of cards to assist you with your goal of defeating the bad guy. Dice are used to determine outcomes of cards, however this suits the premise of the game well (as in real life you would not be sure how a high jacker would respond to you, The Negotiator, in your negotiations/conversations with them). Yes, some may prefer slightly better visual polish on their games. But to let that be your reasoning to not buy, would have you miss out on what is a thoroughly enjoyable game. Developer has mentioned on BGG that he plans to bring further expansions to the game (circa $0.99 cents)...can't wait. Meanwhile I might have to invest in purchasing a physical copy (plus expansions). I agree, the visuals are... but the game seems to be very solid and most of the reviews were very positive. I might give it a try. geoelectric Well-Known Member Apr 22, 2010 464 22 18 San Jose, CA #8 geoelectric, Feb 16, 2018 I have no issue with the visuals. Theyre basic but Im not looking for bling in my card games, just efficient UI. It does seem to (literally) slow down after a few rounds though and the animation seems jerkier. I kind of wonder if there isnt a resource leak. The dice rolling is also occasionally a bit wonky. Overall, though, I think this might be my favorite solitaire-style card game on the platform. The gameplay loop is excellent. (You must log in or sign up to post here.) Show Ignored Content Share This Page Tweet Your name or email address: Do you already have an account?
