Possibly. Good game though, highly recommended. mrbiggles Well-Known Member Jul 3, 2012 3,691 0 0 Like retired USA #5 mrbiggles, Mar 8, 2013 will wait for cheaper or free yeah mixed reviews... still too new of a game, was $2.99 before and could see this going cheaper or free if they push IAPs. its on wishlist but will hold out for cheaper price. Senile Felines Active Member Mar 6, 2013 36 0 0 #6 Senile Felines, Mar 8, 2013 The IAP is not an issue at all, really. If you get any weapon with the Light property, or the Light amulet with STICKO, your healing will easily outscale your damage, so you don't need to worry about potions at all. You don't have to worry about late-game items until the actual late game, but if you're smart about your play you'll never really be hard up for Pyrite or Pyrite Cores. For example, if you know to look for Pyrite Cores while in town or during missions, you will find no shortage of them around (you can shoot them to acquire them). There is one that always spawns above the docks of Suddene, which is basically a free Core. If you're skilled and know to bargain for better rerolls in the arena, an hour or so of the endless arena in Suddene will give you enough to max out whatever weapon you please, and you can keep going for a high-end outfit if you wish. Basically, the game keeps its pace very well past Suddene, and by that point you should be able to fast-track your gear without IAP. Highly recommended on the basis of the soundtrack and dialogue alone. Some equips look too expensive, but you can definitely finish the game WITHOUT IAPs. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #8 nightc1, Mar 8, 2013 Thanks. I noticed how freakishly large the Top IAP list was and got a sick feeling. At one point too the feedback on the game had it vey low rated on Appsfire ... I see that too has changed. DBC undeadcow Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2010 9,493 2 36 Houston, TX #11 undeadcow, Mar 8, 2013 I'd avoided Horn because of it's Zynga associated but if what people here say it true (decent gameplay, no IAP required) I almost want to wait until it goes back up to $6.99 to buy as a small gesture toward steering them, and by extension the whole system, away from freemium nonsense. ...but I'll probably just get it at $2.99. Exact-Psience Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2012 22,664 2 38 The Work-At-Home Guy Philippines #12 Exact-Psience, Mar 8, 2013 I actually thought it was gonna suck because of the Zynga tag, but i ended up likin it and enjoyed the game i paid for full price. Battles are pretty balanced... Not brutal but definitely not cakewalk, great visuals, nice character development mechanics, set items, and a good story that, despite some parts being predictable, somewhat made me go "nice" on more than a few key moments. Drummerboycroy Well-Known Member Apr 2, 2012 4,172 0 36 Clinician Maine! #13 Drummerboycroy, Mar 8, 2013 It's funny that so many people pause when they see Zynga. For me the worry isn't Zynga, but Phosphor. The good news is, this time the IAPs are in the game to begin with, so at least you know what you're getting into in advance, instead of what has happened in the past with Phosphor games. I keep looking at this, but iah, previous experience has just left me cold, and frankly ok to miss out. That said, it looks like the game has done reasonably well for them, so buyers will hopefully be safe from future IAP-nerfing. I tried the free version and wasn't overly impressed, but the SOTC vibe keeps me contemplating picking it up... Quite fancy it but there's a lot of reviews on the store saying it's not compatible..... Since buying hollywood monsters on the promise that it'd be updated to work on it and it hasn't yet I've been a bit wary about these things. The gameplay and story were kind of meh IMO but the soundtrack had me coming back. Can't state enough just how imperative a good soundtrack is.
