Really need to get on with getting that 3rd gen. iPad. Not compatible with iPod Touch, ouch. The game looks sick though.
Dead space still looks fantastic and currently is the best horror game on iOS but I don't really think it's that scary, not too many psych horrors atm. Although not graphically that great, Prisoner 84 is a pretty good horror game on iOS and as far as horror goes, the upcoming Forgotten Memories looks brilliant. Can't wait to purchase that one. JBruu are you planning on getting Horn ?, still up in the air for this one.
Forgotten memories looks fantastic both graphically and gameplay wise. That's my most anticipated game of the year, along with Ravensword 2. Haven't picked up Horn yet, still on the fence. Impressed by IGN's review, though. Probably gonna wait for a sale, or, if the impressions are overwhelmingly positive in the next few days, pick it up. It's just that I got burned with Dark Meadow...
^^ so pumped about forgotten memories... Dead space is pretty solid and IMO the best console experience yet, TDKR is incredibly boring and awful looking (don't get me wrong, it looks great on screenshots, but, in motion, the animations look stupidly bad, the gameplay is so broken it's just bad overall), gameloft sucks at doing anything that's not FPS or RPGs. This one, i was very hyped for this one, the videos are not convincing me, the animations look bad but, i'm downloading right now, i'll not jump into conclusions.
Does this work on iphone4. And as far as the guy saying ios has Passed the vita up. Bwagahaha. U obviously dont own One. The games on the vita are a real console experience and it has 2 analogs. Ios will never pass vita untill it gets a propper controller.
The animations looked ad in the ign review but I'm hoping that's just the recorder. TDKR looks incredible on recent devices, what did you play it on?
Controls are mostly a matter of personal preference and experience. PC>touch screen>analogue sticks for me personally. Analouge sticks are awful for FPSs. I won't go into further comparisons or explanation, but if you want we can create a new thread and duke it out
Someone beat epic to the punch.. I just feel that this type of game/gameplay is what epic has in mind when they created infinity blade..which makes me wonder if IB3 is gona be free-roam aswell??The game looks brilliant and somehow reminds me of shadow of collossus...
I'm a bout an hour in, impressions so far : .Controls, touch based, fluid and aside from occasional pathfinding issues very responsive. .Graphics, somewhere in between infinity blade series and fable. .Sound, very well done. Full voice acting, lots of random witty banter add to the game's world. .Replayability, havent beaten it so cant lock this down but i don't see much replayability in this one. Once I beat the final boss, whats my driving force? Farm the game for even better give him an even more sound thrashing? I'm not sure if it was zynga or phosphor who slipped up here but this type of game excels in an achievement enviroment. Gamecenter, yes please. . IAP, completely optional. Just about everything in the game requires a mix of iap and ingame currency but ingame currency damn near drops from the sky its so plentiful and every fight rewards an iap. . This game is about exploration, enjoy the enviroments, climb in the little holes, look for anchors to grapple, flip every switch, kick every chest. . Combat, responsive, someone bout 10 pages back mentioned combat feeling much like monster hunter on the ios and their spot on. You dodge left and right, swish your weapon, jump to dodge aoe attacks. The combat is a bit simplistic, parry's, block's and combo's would be nice. The game is a treat folks, worth the entry price in my opinion. Those worried about zynga, don't be. They published, thats it. And I suspect this is their attempt at being 'known for more than freemium games'. Good for them if so. Those worried about phosphor's history, its worth noting that they acknowledge their own screwup in the darkmeadow fiasco and even attempted to address it. How many studios would do that?
When does the IAP become available?! I've played up to just past where you learn the first "song" and use if a couple of times... So far not even an opportunity to purchase IAP?
Well, looks as though my fears of IAPs being intrusive are put at rest. I'll be picking this up when I have the space on my iPad.
When you learn to use the forge, you encounter the iap. And your about 5 minutes away from the forge.
This game is seriously awesome. The Zynga part still makes me cry at night but MAYBE they realise there's an audience beyond old women/children for games and we'll see some more actual GAMES from them, not money-making schemes like FarmVill£ But the word 'replay value' is being thrown around. This is a taboo word in gaming imo - Games shouldn't be critisiZed for how many times they can be replayed and for how long, but on the actual experience. Many of my favourite games - heavy rain, metroid prime, portal 2 etc - have no 'replay' yet do have a lot of value in the single experience. Please buy this for the actual, one-time play through and don't avoid it because there are no annoying mini games or grinding or whatever to prolong and stretch the experience
People should feel free to express what they care about. Some people have a strong preference for games that they can play over and over, other people like playing lots of different games and don't mind that they burn through all of the content quickly and move on to something else. You don't have any justification for telling other people what they should prefer.
Regarding the currency "dropping from the sky," that's great to hear, considering that's how Dark Meadow was before the "update." Regarding the history, I was there, and I still have a broken game I can't update. We'll have to agree to disagree on how that turned out... Regarding "How many studios would do that?" Plenty, and some actually do right by their customers... As I said, it sounds great, and I can't wait to eventually pick it up... I'll just be a little more patient this time. DBC
oh no don't get me wrong, i did say it looks amazing, as long as it doesn't move, once you see the animations in action, it looks awfully silly, plus the gameplay is as bad as it can be. i've played it in my own iPod 4 and it looks beautiful, again, until it moves, and i've played it on my dad's iPad 3.
