Ok how long does it take you to finish the whole game? Was it actually worth the 6.99, or do you feel that the devs tried to screw you a little in terms of IAPs?
Took me quite a while...I guess about 15 hours, maybe a bit more. Last world took me like the whole game before it. As I said I was just curious, I find these kind of games boring (nothing to do with this one specifically)...it's very well done, won't be misplaced on a 360 or PS3 with upgraded graphics. First worlds are really guided tough.... I despise the absurd (low) pricing policy of the AppStore so yes, I got my 7 dollars back (cutscenes are really amazing imho, worth the price those alone) and I wanted to support these kind of AAA productions with a tought about story, dubbing and the like...so I was a bit surprised by the gem thing. If you like the genre I would recommend it without doubts..there is nothing like this in the appstore anyway, just be prepared. The fights, even in the arena, are pretty good too...it's that I just wanted to see the ending so any minute of dalay bothered me and I felt it a bit artificial. I almost NEVER found potions during the game, they are very rare. In the end...the whole ending sequence and cutscene was very satisfing.
You can wear an Amulet upgraded with the Light attribute (or use a weapon with the Light attribute) this will simultaneously drain enemy health while healing Horn. If you do this, you shouldn't need to rely on potions so much for healing, and they can just be used as a last resort.
Oh...then I want to idiot badge To be honest I had a big hammer (one boss one) with the light attribute and I saw the light icon on both mine and opponent health bar, but never noticed it incresed mine...at least not sensibly. Thanks for sharing tough!
If you use an amulet with several upgrade slots for the light attribute, you will really see the effect of healing on your character. Each strike will boost your health noticeably.
If you're impatient like me and didn't wait for excellent forum tips to get cores, gems etc., you could easily blow money on IAP. However, this is more my fault than the devs. On the other hand, once bugs are addressed (stay away from rocks, as you can get stuck in them - this happens randomly after Cuthbert, and more often in Westernesse near entrances), it is easily the best balanced "console-like" game out there. What I thought should be at least an option is that the money spent on IAP should be available for subsequent games - I mean you paid for them with real money, you know? The game is very addictive - it is not my favorite genre but it managed to hold my interest enough to have me make purchases I normally wouldn't have.
Oh I see...well probably I didn't upgraded/bothered. I wonder how much was to 'buy' all those upgrades compared to just grind for 25 gems (=5 potions) per time...maybe in the end I took the faster route. Curiosily in my last game I never used a potion The monster that gave me the most problem was a rhino...maybe the 4 or 3 to last ones (it gives you a blueprint). Everytime I died I had to replay almost half an hour of 'puzzles'. Took me some time to learn its attack patterns. Thanks anyway!!!
Anyone know specifically which openings allow you to access the switches in the "Spinning Rooms" mission?
A couple things you can do: keep an eye out for random cores hidden about. (They will reload as well) and get a weapon or amulet with the light attribute, which heals you as you do damage.
Confirmed: game seems to play quite well on the iPad 3 despite it suffers from occassional hickups (mostly apparent when cut scenes kick in, especially right after a new level / zone load. Starting to understand the Checkpoint placement problem people have been complaining about. This is a bit of a deal breaker, even though I don't die often. Sometimes I am a bit tired (after work) and then my gaming skills aren't that awesome, and I get even less motivated to continue on playing when I see just how far back I get thrown back in the game again. No game is perfect at launch, but I will play less often and hope for a few more tweaks and patches down the road. Especially when the game becomes harder later on.
It is. But the combat is less deep versus Infinity Blade. The trade off is free roaming versus on rails and a deep and long lasting engaging story with cinematics (2D and 3D alike) galore. Highly recommended!
Any news about upcoming patch ? I love this game, but checkpoint system is little a bit frustrating for me right now. I trying to finish last mission in second world. I guess I have to wait till next update.
Seriously?! Just bite the bullet and buy it. The $7 it cost is well worth supporting such great developers. I know everyone's not rich, but c'mon. Comments like this make me think that the reports aren't true regarding iOS users willing to buy more apps than Android users.
I quit playing this game. Im in third world and without better checkpoint system its pretty frustrating so I will wait till update :/
I'm in the same boat. This game really needs an update to fix some of the minor technical and design issues. The checkpoint system can be discouraging when it throws you 20 minutes back to an earlier point in the level after you die. Horn is a fantastic game, but it could use some polishing. I hope the patch comes soon so I can resume playing with confidence.
Eh. This is exactely what I meant when I said I had to grind for potions before each later stage, not to repeat whole sections because of the cray checkpoint positioning. In the end I completed the game, others suggested me to get and upgrade the light weapons+amulet to damage enemies while regenerating yourself. I do not know what is more effective-faster.
