And yet the compatibility field where most people would look for that information states it works with 3GS up, Touch 3rd gen up, etc. Definitely some mixed messages going on there.
Yeah, I think Phosphor said that had more to do with Apple's inability to list devices unless you restrict by internal hardware (like a front facing camera or something). But it is a royal pain in the a** when the Requirements and the App Description don't match. A lot of people get bit by it. Don't see how it would be that difficult for Apple to just have some sort of checklist for devs of what devices it works with and put it in the Requirements.
all because Phosphor needed a publisher cause its costs a lot to make games like this how do you know they didn't shop around to other publishers Zynga made a better offer, its your loss... atm this is game of the year...ya the game has iaps but you dont need them at all.Phosphor has earned there 6.99 and if i do a iap its to support them so they can give us more content... so much negativity on this thread just stupid stop bringing this game down cause of a stupid publisher. Enjoy this great game and piece of art we have here. Show praise for the devs at what phosphor have done here...this is a ground breaking ios title as far as the whole package goes, theirs technical issues here and there but this is one amazing feat, ill say it again Ive never seen so much stuff animated on a ios game the attention to detail just paves the way for how good games can be on the ios period...Im so excited for IB dungeons now after playing this.. JUST STOP THE HATE.....IF YOUR ON THE FENCE ABOUT IT READ ALL THE REVIEWS OUT THERE...... THEN GET OFF THE FORUMS AND DOWNLOAD THE GAME AND HAVE FUN CAUSE THE GAME IS PRETTY AWESOME....
i just keep seeing so much negativity for such a great game and its all publisher talk , i just think its lame and brings this great title down , people wont buy it cause of the publisher...and it was not just that one guy theirs so much of it almost makes me sick ....
I think we're all safe as long as we're posting pro-developer/publisher comments... Talk about getting sick... maybe the Dead Trigger Defense Squad is looking for work? That thread seems to have calmed down... lol DBC
But c'mon you have to admit the decision to make Zynga the publisher is a little puzzling. Some people won't buy it based on that fact alone, no matter how many people argue that the game is great or whatever
My mistake. I assumed that was how it worked. That's a serious flaw in Apple's system. I'm surprised it's persisted so long. I remember those nonsensical front facing camera messages when trying to get stuff years ago on my 2nd gen touch. Edit: Maybe a major release like this will prompt them to reexamine that system? I can't recall another big game coming out that only supported 50% of the devices claimed, and there's sure to be a storm of refund requests.
Oh please, man Don't be so sensitive. It's not hate, It was actually a matter of fact. There's no denying this game looks awesome. A few comments about their previous game will not deter people from buying it. Your are mixing up the defination of hate, where the actual posts were a matter of opinion and personal beliefs. Free speech and all that....
Just for the record, I don't know who "that one guy" is, but my issue is strictly with Phosphor. I couldn't be less interested in Zynga, and I'll leave it at that. DBC
Could someone please give me a straight answer regarding Retina or no Retina on the iPad 3? I read the description in the AppStore, but I want a confirmation that it runs in Retina resolution or at least near-Retina (like they did with Infinity Blade 2.) Thank you! There is a reason why you cannot skip it and never will. The reason why Infinity Blade 2 has a lengthy unskippable logo intro as well is because it's loading a large chunk of game resources in the background. It's the same for Horn. It preloads a lot of stuff as you are watching the video.
I'm not sure if it's full retina but it is definitely not just standard iPad res blown up. The game looks great on the iPad 3.
I think it was a great move. One thing I try to keep in mind, as a dev and a gamer, is that most iOS gamers do not hang out in forums, do not have indepth knowledge of publishers and devs. My brother, who owns an iPhone now, doesn't even know what IAP means. In fact most people I know don't. So most people are not going to say eeeewww, not Zynga. They're going to say, "Oh they made Farmville, right! My Mom, sister, friend loves that!" I'm sure the devs realize this. They'd be taking an awful risk not to use Zynga, unless an even bigger publisher made an offer.
Good point. A lot of people I know play Scramble With Friends and simply love Zynga. But it works both ways. There will always be some people that won't buy it cause of Zynga, but I guess the benefit could outweigh the detriments. And most people don't know Phosphor is behind this and the IAP fiasco(DM) so they will most likely purchase this based on the chart position/reviews alone. Either way, it's doing well on the charts
I don't understand why Apple has let the system stay this way as well as there have been other games where the same issue existed. (Probably ones that didn't have a $6.99 price tag though). Besides hardware like requiring a gyroscope and front-facing camera, I think the only other thing devs can do is require an iOS version that older devices can't use. Like they made it 4.3 and up to get rid of 2nd Gen compatibility. But now that doesn't work with things like the 3GS and 4th Gen iPods.
There will always be people who won't buy a game for X reason, or Y reason. Trick is to market to the largest group, and right now that group loves Zynga and Freemium games. As a gamer, I'm not a huge fan of Zynga's, although I played their poker game for 2 years without spending a dime. But as a dev, I see things a little differently, and though I don't like the current trend of Freemium, as a dev, all it takes is one look at the top 25 grossing apps to see what's going on. As a solo or small dev on the App Store, you're not just a game designer, you're also a businessman. It's difficult balancing the jobs of making the game you want, and being able to survive.
Meh. The majority of those are console rip offs. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with games not being Pixel-y, I just that I don't think that iOS gaming is going to advance by ripping off consoles. Just sayin'.
