Yeah, it's like that. You unlock one car and one power up at each bonus level. There are three different power ups at each level you can choose from. But if you complete the levels 100%, means first place & collect all the blue coins on the track you can earn two cars at each country. There's an overview with your winning statistics at the end of each country if you complete it 100%. I can't stop playing...I'm in racing mode!
Absolutely brilliant!!! Thank you for taking me back to my childhood!!! Well done on this game! You blew me away so far!!!
My fave racer on iOS (for the last 4 years no less!), *was* 8-bit Rally. This is fundamentally similar, but so so much better. It's like they carefully poured Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge into a chocolate bowl full of rainbows, and mixed in all the goodness extracted from the great Outrun games. Yes, this game is as wonderful as that description sounds! Mmm yummy! Horizon Chase is absolutely the most gorgeous and delightful racer I've ever played on my phone.
Reporting back. I'm still having issues with virtual controls just suddenly not working. Played 3 more races on track 2 in SF, and all 3 times my acceleration just stopped registering. My thumb is in the same exact spot but out of the blue, I see my brakes on (which happens when lifting off the gas with the default set-up I'm using) and even if I tap the accelerator a few times, it won't register the input for a good 3-5 seconds. So I thought maybe it was the track and moved on to the 3rd, but then it happened repeatedly on that track as well. I'm gonna do a hard reset on my phone, and if that still doesn't work, I'll try uninstall-reinstall and see what happens. Only one other person reported this same issue, so I'm curious what device and iOS everyone is running. I'm wondering if it's a 8.4.1 bug, or something with the iPhone 6+
well even tho I'm trying to play pacman 256, guides, happy wheels and galactic keep this looks like it has to be purchased and played. this is one expensive week.
I have no problems with my iPad mini 2 with iOS 8.1.2. And here is a picture with your statistics after winning a cup.
Other than my control issue, this game is really phenomenally good. I'm seeing a lot of people compare it to 8-bit Rally, which had a good coee but was just too hard to be enjoyable in the long run. My all-time favorite old-school racer has still got to be Final Freeway 2R, an OutRun clone (and vast improvement on the original). Also has some courses with vision-effecting weather, as one commenter was looking for. I'm still not sure how these two games will compare, but I would encourage everyone who's enjoying this to check that out, as well.
Braking helps. Not all corners can be handled at full speed. While there's no way to really drift, I lay off the gas (causing the brakes to auto-apply) going into the corner and back on the throttle mid way thru to the exit.
This game is really great. But I would still love to play the 80s-tastic Genesis version of Outrun on my phone. Provenance does not seem to be working anymore
I always go full speed without braking and without losing speed. But I have a lot of "steering" upgrades, so that may help. Currently 9th in Game Center, lol.
