Did someone mention that Silver Hat gets easier as it progresses? Because I've yet to make it past like 50%, and it's starting to affect my mood in a negative way.

I'd ask for advice, but am pretty sure the most important tip is something along these lines: 'Don't miss rings and don't fall into the lava.'

I will keep trying. I will not be undone by this silver level of hat.

Also, Hook Champ is the mayor of Awesomeville.

Yes, the Silver Hat level does get easier once you get past the rings. There are a total of 3 sets of rings. Still a couple of potential tricky spots, but the rings (especially the low ceiling second set) are the hardest.

And you already mentioned the best tip -- don't miss the rings. Good luck!

Thanks, man. Glad to know the rings are the hardest part. That golden fedora will soon be mine.

Time to fire up blue eye (qpawn). I just crushed its score on Stone Skull!

Working my way up on Golden Frog. I despise the ending of that level. That is a cruel design!

Actually, the player calling himself/herself nig ninzy has been flying up the leaderboards. That has definitely pushed me on a few of the levels. And I'm pretty sure that person is not a machine, just good. =)

The new level sets really frustrate me; I don't find them enjoyable at all because the ghost simply moves too fast. I would use HB but it does nothing..I know Kepa has talked about removing the ghost but then HB will be unable to get the special hat, but I think that's unfair. I paid for that character..I want the special hat ;)

If satan took the form of a hook champ level he would be the stone hat. I have tried this damn level 200+ times and can still not freaking beat it :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: I get to 80% every time and miss a ring or hit it too high a flip myself into the ceiling lava

EDIT YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME I WAS AT 85% AND THE FRAME RATE DIPPED AND I DIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same here I can't even beat Stone Hat, I get to about 70-80% but I can never finish it. Its not even like 'Oh damn I lost, but I want to keep trying.' Its more of a 'Goddammit I'm tired of playing this shit' feeling.

Ya I had I want to keep trying after about the first 20 or so tries. Now I'm just like I've wasted so much time on this level I have to beat it now

I'm the opposite. After attempting it so many times I've just about given up because I'm tired of it, and have stopped playing HC indefinitely.

Hookbot will be ghost-free in the ultralevels in the soon to be submitted update.

However, he refuses to pick up the forbidden hatboxes. You'll be able to use him to beat the levels, and explore or practice them at leisure. You'll still have to bust out a human character to get the hats, though I guess you could get Hookbot's hat pretty easily with Gunny.

Adding super difficult levels was something I wanted to do. I know it's a divisive issue. I'll probably do it again in the next game, but I'll make sure it's harder to unlock. Also, in Hook Champ, all future levels will be more normal-difficulty geared. New levels coming up won't even require people to beat Bull to unlock.

This is what I don't understand; why can't HB acquire the hats? Its almost like those who bought HB are getting shafted.

the hardest part about the first hat level is resisting the urge to shoot the chaser until the last possible second. I just beat it, awesome level.

are you supposed to use hookbot or jake for the second hat level?

...How? First you were getting shafted because you couldn't beat two levels with him. Now they're making it so that you can, but not giving you the hats which they explicitly stated that they wanted to keep rare (like the crown) and you're... getting shafted for buying something?

Seriously, I can understand the people saying "aaah, I paid cold, hard cash because I can't hope to beat this challenging game with the chaser following me, and now he's following me anyway!" though I still feel that it's fine to have one set of levels set aside for the really skilled players, but to somehow say that "those who bought HB are getting the shaft" just doesn't make any sense to me at all in light of the forthcoming changes.

You can beat bronze hat with anyone, but hookbot has the easiest time collecting all the loot. Silver hat can only be beaten with Jake.

Whoa there cowboy, calm yourself. It doesn't matter if they wanted to 'keep the hats rare' the crown itself isn't rare. The leaderboards are reset weekly, so all you have to do is wait till they're reset and swoop on a level. Is that rare to you? It isn't to me. I just can't see why you're unable to grasp this concept: HB was made available for people who were having a difficult time with the game, and they obliterated it's purpose with the new level set. So people who bought HB thinking it'd be easier were mistaken. I love HC, but I don't agree with what they've recently done. For lack of better words, its false advertising.

The crown used to be rare. However, if I remember correctly, enough people were unhappy with the fact that it was so hard to get, that Rocketcat decided to go to a weekly leaderboard so that others had a chance to get a crown.

I do agree that buying Hookbot on the premise of no ghost should be the case for all levels. However, I would not have allowed Hookbot to record scores on the leaderboards. Instead, people could use Hookbot to complete levels and collect hats.

But at the same time I sense a lot of frustration with the new levels. But remember, they are supposed to be HARD. I enjoyed the new levels. I can't say I found them to be too difficult. Unfortunately, it sounds like there won't be super-hard levels because of that. Oh well. I'd like to see harder levels in addition to more casual.

I think that Rocketcat could satisfy everyone by simply slowing down the ghost a little bit. The speed jump from the original ghosts to this one was too great.

Maybe I've played the new levels too much, because I only find the chaser to be an issue on the Stone Hat level. But I use Gunny so the 4 shotgun blasts take care of that. And the only time I see the chaser in the Bronze and Silver Hat levels is at the very beginning.

I think there is a fine line between what people perceive to be difficult and not. And finding that balance is tough. In the current form hookbot isn't going to be removed from the leaderboards. That's fine because the only level he can get a high score is on Bronze Hat in the new level set. So I'd just remove the chaser, and allow people to get their hats with him. I know that isn't what Rocketcat wanted, but it would satisfy everyone, maybe...

If you slowed down the ghost, it wouldn't be as hard though, which is the whole point of that level set. So far I'm stuck on silver, and that's fine, I like a good challenge. After the HookBot update, those people will get what they want and won't have to worry about a ghost, while still maintaining the prize of the hats only when you beat it with one of the normal characters. That is completely fair. You get rewarded with a hat for completing a difficult task, and you don't when the difficulty is stripped via HookBot.
