Kepa, I'm fully behind a XBLA / PSN (don't forget about us sad, lonely PS3 owners , or preferably PC version of Hook Champ! Of course on PC you'd have people editing dong hats onto everything. But you also open up huge chances for a level editing community. In a perfect world, there would be 3x clones of the Rocketcat development team to work on all versions, but right now I understand it's just pipe dreams. Really excited for the new level set. On the topic of hats I'd like to share some custom Fez avatars I mocked up for people on a little forum I frequent. If only copyrights didn't exist!
I haven't slept and I won't until qpawn is brought to justice! Yeah I saw your challenge, I'll have a crack at it tonight.
I wouldn't lose sleep over it. That's why I've been trying to play levels where I'm out of the top three. I've made improvements on all of the bat levels, and a couple of the frog levels. I tied jumbomonkey (I think that is his name) on Bronze Bat for first place - 1 point ahead of qpawn. I figured out a trick to running that level faster. I see that qpawn has already bested us by 10 points. I didn't have my best run, but I have no idea how he got 10. And his score was posted to the weekly boards.
Hmm, I have beaten every level in the game but still don't have the top hat purchase option. Maybe I need to beat every level with Hookbot?
You definitely don't need to do that. I can't remember how I unlocked it the first time, but since I wiped all my data, I don't seem to have it back. Have you tried buying lots of other hats from the store maybe?
Yeah the thing is I think that I have purchased every other hat available, including the crown. I'm only missing the pimp hat because I haven't challenged anyone yet and the top hat which I have no idea how to unlock.
I only got a Touch a few weeks ago and Hook Champ is far and away the best one that I've purchased (already 40+). I even bought Hookbot, despite my raw talent negating his benefits, though the added dialogue is worth any asking price. Though, I have a few quick questions for Kepa, or anybody else: -At the risk of losing that aura of mystery, where are the Rocketcat folks from? Some of the art and sensibilities seem in line with Japanese games, but the writing is far too good and sounds too natural to be a translation. -When Hookbot says "IT IS A LIVING (laugh track)," is that a reference to anything in particular? It makes me giggle like an idiot for no apparent reason and I'm really curious... -I looked through the thread a bit, but I'm missing one secret achievement worth 100 points. Any hints as to which one this is? -Speaking of achievements, is Burning Nethers Gold cumulative? I'm guessing not, so where is the best level to go for this? I'm thinking Golden Skull with Hookbot, but I'm pretty bad with skimming. Also, challenges! If anybody wants to throw any challenges my way, I'd be more than happy to participate. My OF name is the same as here- modium. Thanks, and I'm looking forward to 3.0 and 4.0, plus the next game!
It might be linked to the pimp hat. I recall that the top hat wasn't super special or anything to unlock... I can look it up by the weekend, maybe. Super busy. It might be somewhere in this thread? I remember answering this before and then forgetting.
We're from the US. Personally I grew up on NES and SNES games so there's definite influence. That joke's a total Flintstones ripoff. Probably my favorite Hookbot joke series, except maybe the email spam ones. I've long forgotten what the achievements are. Update 3's going to have OpenFeint 2.4, which has ingame forums. We'll probably just make a thread with a FAQ people can contribute to. Try the Bull levels for the Burning Nethers Gold achivement. You can get it just by purposefully hanging right in lava, not just skimming through it. You can also get it from standing on rocks that are just barely submerged in lava. Yeah, it's pretty good.
Personally i just can't get the hang of the game. Your all saying how good it is, yet it's hard as holy hell for me. Any tips? (i've never been good at "Hook" Games").
there is definitely a learning curve to this game, I was absolutely horrid at it once I started but now I just reclaimed my golden monkey spot (yay). Just keep practicing, you'll get the hang of it.
I thought this was crap after trying it out. Today I stuck it back on my iPod, having become quite pro with hooks after playing so much dinosmash, I found this to be the best game I've played in a long time..since the initial days of nova. I'm hooked.
Hook Champ seems to have that effect on people..when I first bought it, it was mainly due to all the praise it was receiving back when it was released. I played it..hated it..it just sat in my Touch. Then randomly I picked it up and loved it..Idk, its a weird thing
What's DinoSmash? This game does have a learning curve, but it can be avoided by buying HookBot I love that little robot.
Dinosmash online, the best online game I have played on the idevice. Yeah that's right eliminate and nova, calling y'all out.
