Oh, I forgot to answer this in my last post, but here's some stuff about pricing: Hook Champ will be $2.99 forever. No more sales. For future games, we may have a single sale, but I like the idea of just setting a price for a game and leaving it there. Especially if it's a game that has frequent updates. Lowering your price seems to be like saying "I give up on this game", and we don't intend to do that. The DLC experiment was to see if we could lower our price on future games, and just make it up via DLC. The early result (we're still going to try one more DLC) is that the answer is a resounding "Sorta". Data implies that we could probably drop the sales price on future games by about a dollar from what we'd otherwise sell them for. This is early, but the next game will probably be $1.99, unless we add a lot of expensive unplanned features.

hey kepa you should make an endless level in hook champ that would be cool, or a multiplayer mode in hook champ. thanks
An endless randomly generated level would be awesome. It would probably take a lot of time to make though
Kepa has discussed this earlier in the thread. The engine for Hook Champ can't really support an endless mode; the 'spiritual sequel' that they're working on now is partly a way to address this. Sounds like a combination of HC and endless mode with some new tweaks and features. In the forthcoming update, more options will be added to the challenge system. I think Kepa has written that they consider the challenges as a sort of non-real time multiplayer mode. Also, cannot wait for the update and am glad to hear how quickly/well the new game is coming along.
Thanks for the coin explanation. That may have been the case, because I just saw that his coin count took a big leap in the past few hours. We'll never know. EDIT: Oops, qpawn, looks like you let your score slip into the Golden Rat weekly leaderboard. You can't let us see your times, so unlike you. Reading this thread, eh?
YES! I just joined so I could congratulate myself for getting 1st globally on Golden Bull ^.^ my new crown looks BEAUTIFUL.
I hate to play Devil's Advocate, but isn't it entirely possibly that qpawn is just a really good Hook Champer? I'm sorry you're no longer #1, but I'd think you would welcome the competition mikeg. That said, it's also possible that qpawn doesn't have the Hook Gene and is actually just a robot with an iPhone, Hook Champ, and a single biometric-enabled finger. Just don't start pointing fingers because you thought you were unbeatable.
I totally agree that qpawn could just be very good, and I've even stated that in previous posts. It's just that there were a few things that had looked questionable to me. I have no problem with competition, however, if qpawn is really good, then there isn't a whole lot of competition, because I can't compete at that level. I'm able to get good scores, but it sometimes takes me much longer (if ever) to get a #1 global on a level. And to have qpawn come around and (re)take the #1 spot within an hour or two is just discouraging. But I'm all for competition. Oh, and I don't believe I have ever held the #1 overall spot. And I can't say that is a goal of mine. And I am definitely beatable, I never stated I wasn't.
I was just wondering, When gunny says that hookbot isn't flameproof, s/he mentions that they could buy flameproofing, but then they would have to buy another one. So is it possible that in this next update or another update you could put an invincibility mode for hookbot into the shop? I love exploring the levels, but the bull levels are just no fun because of the lava. ps. which is the best level to farm coins on. Ah wants me a laser hooks [/cowboy]
I may have missed reading some pages at the speed this thread moves! I just hate to see someone get called a cheater when they might not be. Didn't realize you were talking about the overall / OpenFeint boards, don't think I've checked those before. All I know is I see you all over the regular Global Boards though! I find the best level for me is Stone Rat. 68 coins is the most any of the levels have (as far as I know), and Stone Rat is fun and I can get through it faster than the other 68-coin levels. If it's anything like me though, you'll get bored of it. So I tend to just run through the entire set of levels again.
Yeah, I don't want to be the one that starts calling others cheaters because I can't beat them. Seems like in many games, sports, etc. that the minute someone becomes really good then people start to question. But like I said, there had been a few things that made me curious is all. And, yes, I was talking about the OF boards. If qpawn posted his scores to the weekly boards, then you'd be seeing my name all over in second place.
Hookbot and Jake hook up, Gunny rides Ol' Big Teef off into the sunset. Guess the qpawn mystery will never be solved (unless he's actually dotBrain in disguise). Maybe he is just very good, but it does seem a little suspicious. On some of the levels I cannot see any way of reaching his scores. Ah well, I'll have to try and find some satisfaction in the battle for second place.
