SUCKER! We're doing updates anyway, though. Update 2 was submitted last week, so it should be out any day now. Update 3 levels are being wrapped up. Update 3's levelset theme: Intense Difficulty! More update 3 info the day update 2 hits the app store. Aaaaaaaaaa I'm out of Totino's Pizza Rolls. This is a Christmas tragedy.
how many mb does it have ? cos my pc is defect and i have to find a wlan spot and download it there if it isnt too big
Awesome cubed. Hoping endless/survival mode is still on. Here's how much I like this game: been playing over the last several days to make sure my coin total is enough to buy all the megahooks and a proper selection of new hats/outfits. Rock on, Kepa.
Um, thanks for that? I found that once you collect some coins and upgrade, the game gets much more fun. Playing the first few levels with the basic hook, rope, and walking speed might seem a little frustrating or uninspiring, but play the game a little bit and it really is great.
I have to agree with that. It started out a little slow for me, but once you get the upgrades, and get a feel for the game, it really is one of the best games around. I bought this game when it first came out, and I've been playing it ever since. You could say, I'm hooked! (bad pun intended).
Under 10. So it's not too big. You can download it over cellular. It's not still on. We found out that there's certain limitations we didn't see at first due to the engine. These prevent us from doing a couple of concepts we wanted to do. Without getting into tons of detail, one of these is that maps can only be 38,400 pixels long. We've already hit this number in the last Rat level. It kind of puts a damper on the whole "endless" part. We would like to do an outdoor endless/survival mode somehow, though. It would just require major engine overhauls. Maybe a 99 cent spinoff kind of thing? Update 3 will have new maps, regardless. Also, we're still trying to figure out a good way to put in a level editor, but that's a far future kind of thing, if we manage to pull it off. Yeah, we figured out that a lot of complaints about the "controls" were actually due to the rope being too short in the beginning. The recent Toucharcade podcast just confirms this. We're going to update the full and lite versions to have a longer initial rope. Probably about the size of the second rope update as the base rope length. This should make the game more accessible; the really weak initial rope length turns some people off on the game. I'm not sure on changing the numbers for the hook and walk speed. I think the main complaint is just the weak initial rope.

I'm pretty sure a 99c spinoff/DLC would do well, at least for those who really like the game. I'd consider it well worth the $. Personally, I'm less into level editors than some; figure it's best to let the experts design the game. But for Hook Champ, it'd probably be enjoyable. Thanks for the info.
There's some games that do a level editor extremely well. It's not so much the level editor itself that's important, but the way the levels are shared to others. Great examples of level sharing done right: Labyrinth 2 and the flash game, Time Fc*k. You pretty much just need a way for people to downvote bad levels into oblivion, with good levels rising to the top. It's really hard to do this in Hook Champ, though, because difficult-but-good levels would probably just get downvoted until they were deleted... Anyway, it's something we'd like to do. It's just something we won't do unless we can do it right. Wednesday, maybe? That's about the time it SHOULD be approved. It's always in Apple's hands, though. Off the top of my head, update 2 is mostly fun cosmetic stuff, money sinks, and a 1 dollar DLC character. There's also a feature where if you beat a friend in a challenge, you can have the game blare on twitter or facebook on how much you rule. Oh, and whoever wanted the ability to turn the chatter at the beginning of each level off: That's in update 2. Update 3 info as soon as update 2 is out. We'll probably have update 3 almost done by the time 2 is released, so we'll be able to do a preview of it immediately. Watch for that on the blog, the app store itself, and this forum.
Kepa, I know I asked about this awhile back, but is there any chance that update 2 will save ghost runs for the fastest local time, even if ghost mode is set to "hide"? I ask because I still play with ghost off most of the time, but I'd still like it to save my best run. Then if I don't play a level for some time, I can watch my ghost to figure out what I did. Thanks!
I've been playing this game for the past couple days (tried the lite and fell in love) and I've got most of the "stuff" and am working on the 2nd levels of the challenge ones. I really like it! Graphics are styled well, ambient environment is pretty awesome (bats, crushable bones, skulls etc) and the monsters are pretty fun to escape from. I'll buy the DLC when it comes out to support the devs Chris.
We forgot about that one, I think. It was a pretty good suggestion, too, I just didn't manage to write it down right away. If we did forget it in update 2, I'll make sure it gets in the next update. We got preoccupied by all the additions of flashy stuff, like the new costume system. Great! We have a pretty high conversion rate of lite to full version people. We're probably going to update the lite a bit at some point, in an attempt to make the conversion rate even higher.
I bought this after all of Hodapp's ravings. I am glad to say to it has far exceeded my expectations. What a great game. I'm trying to beat the challenge levels and they are really tough. The early levels are still fun to go back to with the upgraded gear. I'll be looking out for updates and DLC. Keep up the good work.
