I have a question. Do u think it would help to beat the stone hat level with hookbot first? Maybe I could beat it with Gunny after. Idk that level is beast. Also mike, how did u beat it with Jake? I think u would need those extra shotgun shots
Oh, he didn't beat it with Jake, he just is using Jake right now. But I would just try to beat it with Gunny, and when you get to that part with a huge row of blocks, just drop down and you won't have to smash through them, you'll also get 2 gems on the way.
Oh, I always play Stone Hat with Gunny. And I use all shotgun blasts on the chaser. My first blast comes right at the start. Not only does it hold the chaser off for a bit at the start, but it gets Gunny moving from 0 to 60 in no time flat. You might want to use Hookbot to get a feel for the level if you haven't finished it.
Hmmm, I will try that, going through those blocks makes me throw away another shot so hopefully it will be easier now.
Good point. You only want to break through the initial walls of the green section, until you can drop down. Otherwise, as Twiddle pointed out, stay low and avoid crumbling walls.
The Special Hook isn't really any better than the normal hook, but one thing I did notice, is that it hooks on faster(could just be me), and that if you miss a latch on the Stone Hatbox, the special hook doesn't go flying around, so you can re-hook and save yourself a rocket fuel boost. I would get the special hook after I got all the other upgrades. (e.g. Jet Fuel, Gun Shells). Get it if you want a cool hook, not special abilities.
Each character gets their own special hook of equal quality. Jake's is the Cursed Hook, Gunny's is The Grapplin' Cannon, Hookbot's is the Laser Hook, and Zelle's is the Mega Drill.
It depends on what you mean by "best". If you mean as in the best abilitys, none. They are almost identical ability wise as the normal hooks. If you mean looks, it really depends on your taste. I have all the special hooks, and my personal favorite is Hookbots. I think Hookbots and Jakes hooks are the coolest. Gunnys and Zelles are pretty cool too, though.
Really? I only use 3 shotgun blasts on the Chaser - I always have 1 spare at the end of the level, which I usually use earlier to get me through the destructible blocks. I use one right at the start, then if I'm quick enough the Chaser catches up with me just as I reach the end of the section where the bats bounce you through open space. Then I use the 3rd one when the Chaser catches up again in the lava section near the end.

Get hookbot. Oh! Also I just beat the stone level with hookbot so I could do the bronze. The bronze was easy. Beat it 2nd try. Silver is impossible though
with hookbot, it IS impossible, even with the lavaproofing there is a part where you need to use 2 jumps in rapid succession, which hookbot cannot do (unless kepa made it so that HB had 2 jumsp or made another coolant upgrade) The big reveal is tomorrow ^_^
