what i love about this game is how when your working on getting a highscore, you learn/memorize the smallest things like where to hook on, or when you should let go so that you get on a bouncy thing or how many boosts to use by a certain point, yadayada etc. its awesome.
okay just bought my 2nd 3k hook. These things are absolutely bad ass! I think I'm going to have to farm another one up tonight. Finally beat Gold Skull. Stone Hat has me shaking in my shoes after all the comments about its difficulty. For now its still fun to run through it over and over since I can get a little farther each time.
It wouldn't be possible for me to record from a simulator unless I was a developer, right? (or a jailbroken ipod)
Ugh! Trying to get a top score is a crazy challenge! Just got #4 on Bronze Frog. Not sure I can do much better. Aren't these things suppost to reset weekly? Or is kepa waiting for the update to wipe the boards? I'm assuming they get wiped with each update anyway.
Tomorrow night is when I get my crown (when the game's leaderboards are reset) that or Saturday night (which is it?)
Hat Ideas I have a few ideas for new hats in the forth update! "Plunger" for Hookbot - "With this plunger, Hookbot will be a walking toilet!" "Pink Afro" for Jake - "Get in the groove with this colorful 'fro." "Cowboy Hat" for Gunny - "This will go great with the guns." "Bunny Ears" for Zelle - "I got these with my animal coat."
Once you get that far, you're pretty much in the clear as long as you're able to save a shotgun or two to bust through the end rocks as a beginner. Most of the levels are designed so that the toughest parts are in the beginning. Obvious exception: the Hatbox levels. It's developer only, as far as I know. Also, half of the hats you suggested already exist in game, right now. We clear the boards Sunday, usually. Sometimes. The problem is that we never set up an automatic board clear. We always do it manually, and we often forget to. Especially lately. We might do a 3.6 patch IMMEDIATELY after 3.5... we came up with a better speed fix. We didn't put the better speed fix in 3.5 because we thought it had a bad trade-off, but we actually fixed the trade-off. This has been one annoying bug.
Kepa. I am just about to buy Zelle DLC, but what would be awesome is if you give us some gold coins to fund for hats
Good ideas, but I'll be honest I would buy pretty much every hat regardless. Love the plunger and bunny ears in particular btw.
Oh, I was afraid of that. Well, I was going to check in Hook Champ, but I'm rushing off to bed early tonight, gotta get up early in the morning. I'll come up with some better hat ideas tomorrow. Good night. OH DO YOU HAVE AN ARROW THROUGH THE HEAD HAT, YET? WHAT ABOUT A GARBAGE CAN ON HOOKBOTS HEAD?
I'm going to guess that each character unlocks different hats by clearing the same level? I've been using hookbot to get through everything since I got it since I use a lot of rocket jumps, but if there's extra hats unlocked for clearing with each character I've got a lot more work to do. BTW you're killing me Kepa. I have other games I have to review still but I've been spending more time with HC then them. Such awesomeness that I simply cannot put it down. Now that I have Hookbot and Jakes special hooks I think I'll start taking screen caps for the review. I've done an early draft and the game is getting roughly a 97%. Scores tend to fluctuate a little as I write, but I highly doubt I'm going to change much from there.
We're going to set a hard limit of new items costing 300 coins usually, with some special items that cost 600 coins, tops. Also, new items in the future will most likely just be hats. With this limit set in place, we'll also be adding new levels that give more opportunities for coins. I can't think of any examples offhand where clearing with different characters unlocks new things. There are some hats that are unlocked by getting #1 local scores on 24 levels or so, the crown for getting a #1 global score, some hats for Jake and Gunny and maybe Hookbot that are unlocked just by beating Skull and Rat... then there are some special case hats for doing odd things like trying the Pro Controls in settings or having someone send you a challenge, then winning it... It's getting hard to remember all this stuff. Someone should make a Hat Guide. Someone that isn't me.
Pro's horrible, don't use it. Except just once. To get the hat, which isn't even really a hat. It's misnamed, really. It's just the original control scheme we used before late beta.
