Twiddle: I read pretty much every post in the thread. Things cost a lot because we wanted a money sink in the game. At the time, really dedicated players had already amassed like 20k coins. This was before we put in the 3k price hooks. More levels are on the way, so there's more money that way. We also don't intend to add any more things that are blindingly expensive. Expensive hats we add right now are about 300 gold, for example. Super expensive hats in update 5 with animated/particle effect hats would be about 600 gold. The new Hookbot item is just 200 gold. For the next game, we won't be doing 3k price items, either. Money sinks aren't as important as we thought. Mostly because of the RICHEST PLAYER scoreboard. Money has its own value: A kind of "total playtime points" indicator to show off to others.
Thank God there won't be anymore 3k items..I bought HB's special hook, but have gotten nowhere near that amount of gold again [aside from grinding Stone Rat countless times to afford the 1.2k shotgun upgrade] Also, I beat Silver Hat! So happy, only 1 more level Hopefully the new update with levels will come soon. EDIT: Aha, Golden Hat was super hard Those quotes were funny; 'No applause necessary, just send money'
Okay, well, I guess almost everyone who has Hook Champ is 76 people. That's why this thread has 100,000 views. And about the program code, I highly doubt he's a bot. Why would anyone make a bot for a game like Hook Champ? If the qpawn's script was this advanced, he would take up more memory than the game. Did it ever occur to you that the only people that can make bots for Hook Champ are the same people that develop the game, and can therefore just add the score to the scoreboard, anyway? Okay, I am sorry if I ever came across as being rude or pushy, I just thought that with all the comments and updates your working on, that you wouldn't have time to see my comments, and that my best shot to communicate with you would be directly. I was also wondering though, with the new levels and such, won't there be more upgrades for the Minigore character to buy? I'm a hard-core hooker, it's just that things get a bit repetitive even for Hook Champ, and there doesn't seem like any real way to farm gold/loot in this game. Thanks for paying attention to your consumers, unlike 99% of the producers.
Then you haven't gotten enough #1 global (OF) scores to see how qpawn works. If he is a human, then my hat is off to him. But, I still believe that qpawn is way too good to be a human, thus the bot theory. And, yes, I do believe that Rocketcat is behind this. Kepa knows for sure. I could be completely wrong, but there has been a lot of suspicious activities with qpawn to believe otherwise. Also, Rocketcat could do whatever they wanted to modify scores, etc., but what would be the fun with that? As a developer, it would be way cooler to create a bot that could play Hook Champ.
Twiddle, you're ruining the magic/evil that is qpawn. Also, I'm torn. Do I save the bonus gold I got from G. Hat and keep grinding for the 3k hook or..Go on a hat shopping spree..?
Aha I think I'm probably going to end up doing that..Addiction Gold is the only HC achievement I have left. EDIT: Oh yea, definitely going for the hats. The achievement/hat wh*re in me is too strong
mikeg123, I'm not saying that qpawn is human. I'm saying that it is far more likely that Rocketcat games added the score to scoreboards than qpawn being a bot. I don't see the logic in your reasoning. Why would Rocketcat want to create a bot for "fun". I seriously doubt that with all this time they've spent adding more content, that they would want to waste time creating a bot script.
the first screenshot backgrand reminded me of Super Mario round 2 which i played long time ago. i missed it. i hope Hook Champ will be awesome, too
My logic is that I am a developer (not games), and I think it would be REALLY COOL to write a bot program to play HC (or any other game). Most programmers enjoy to program because it is fun, and many like to write and experiment with as much code as possible. And that would include writing a bot. If I developed a game like HC, I would have written a bot for it. But that is just me. Guess it is a programmer thing. Also, even though qpawn always beats us (sometimes by large amounts), his scores are always reasonable. By that I mean that in most cases I have been able to match and/or surpass qpawn's scores (until the score is driven so high, that qpawn beats me by a few points). What I'm trying to get at here is that I can't imagine that Rocketcat would be able to guess these scores with such precision. I would think that they would eventually make an error, and "post" a score that is not reasonable. I haven't seen that, yet. I don't see any reason why a developer, like Rocketcat, would cheat scores just for the sake of it. From what I have seen of Kepa in the forums, I really don't believe that is the case. EDIT: just to clarify, sure Rocketcat is busy, etc. but programmers usually find the time to work on "side" projects.
