The only other level I use hot pants on is Golden Skull. I use the pants when I hit the lava where all of the gems are. However, to get my run last night, I have to hit it just right so that I have enough momentum to get the two coins. EDIT: err, I use hot pants on Golden Rat, too.
So kepa what is the latest news on the new update, all I know is that there is a new map with minigore, will it be diferent gameplay with John gore??
Anyone on here using Ryan Petrich's ProSwitcher app? I've noticed that Hook Champ isn't responding to touches on the far edges of the screen any more, and ProSwitcher is the only app I've installed lately, so I'm wondering if that's responsible.
That's a good trick, and I fully intend to steal it. Just tried it a couple of times though, how do you manage to drop so you get all the gems and coins? I can't seem to get the angle right.
Getting the right angle is the hard part, and probably the reason it took me so long to finally get a respectable score on that level. It is really hard to describe, but at the point you are supposed to drop, I kind of do what I call a lazy swing. You have to swing just hard enough to barely pick up the two coins up high, but slow enough that you drop just behind the gems. When you boost from the hot pants, you will most likely not get the second coin, so I use a rocket boost which gets my momentum going again. Then when I hit the crumbling blocks I get one good swing, followed by a shotgun blast to get the two gems, and when I break out of the other side, I use my last rocket boost which carries me all the way to Gunny (I never hit the floor). I have had sub-1:48 times, but I always miss one coin or gem. So I think there is a much higher score to be had. Please do steal it. If you can top qpawn, I am all for that. =)
I've given it a few attempts, and never once come close to collecting all the gems and coins. I'll persevere though, if only for the sake of our battle versus Kepa's machine. I hope there isn't an iPad-only version of HC. Because then I'd have to buy one.
Yeah, it is tough getting the angle. I got it once today, and beat my high score by 3 points. Still 5 behind qpawn. I wish a had a video or better way to describe it for you. It's just that I get everything maybe every 1 in 8-10 tries. Basically, I've counted 9 hanging columns at the end before you hit the spot where you drop. Once you pass the 9th hanging column, I hook on the lowest point of the big wall, and do one slower swing. That probably won't help at all, but keep with it and you will eventually collect all of the gems and coins. EDIT: what would be cool is if you could send you best ghost run to others. I know the challenge system kind of works like that, however, as I mentioned with Golden Skull, it can take me a lot of tries to get a good run, and I might not be able to reproduce that in a challenge run.
Yeah I'd like that option too. While we're dreaming an option to record a video of your best runs would be good too, so you could YouTube your finest moments for posterity. I like Golden Skull, but I can't see myself playing it through enough to master your trick. My desire to battle for high scores has rapidly diminished following this whole qpawn mystery, so hopefully Kepa will reveal all soon.
Yeah, I like Golden Skull. However, I dislike having to run the whole level (which is really easy now) just to get to the one swing that counts at the end. And when you miss that swing, you have to start over. That's why I like some of the levels where the important piece is at the beginning. If you mess it up, just restart. I know how you feel about qpawn and high scores. I've come to a point where I just don't care about qpawn anymore. I know it will beat my scores no matter what I do. But it is discouraging to have this entity that does that -- if qpawn is intentional then it is a double-edged sword: some people will try to challenge it, and others will eventually say screw this, I've had enough. I'm kind of at the point of the latter. But the player calling himself nig ninzy (kungus on OF) has kept me going on quite a few of the levels. I'm pretty sure he isn't a machine, and I do like the challenge of REAL opponents. Hopefully the truth will be revealed soon.
Thanks very much Chrono Gear and Boardumb. I attempted to re-purchase Hookbot, at which time it informed me that I had already purchased it and I could download it again for free. I downloaded again, and problem solved.
Glad to hear that fixed the problem. Now remember the rule, if you love Hookbot you have to buy Zelle too! I know I'm practically a shill at this point but I'm so head over heels in love with this game I'd marry it if I could. Looking to have my review posted on my site by the weekend. I'm holding off till I have the wicked hooks and some more cool hats for my screen shots. After getting the Hookbot one I HAVE to get the others!
We submitted 3.5 awhile back. Should be out any time now. I heard rumors that Apple may have slipped back to their old approval times, though, so I'm not holding my breath. Update 4 is the new minigore level set. It'll be different gameplay. John Gore has the incredible ability to shoot his machinegun FORWARDS, not just backwards. His level also features new types of things to shoot. Think like a really simple Bionic Commando. We've been thinking about it. We might! Oh, and I'll reveal the QPAWN MYSTERY by the 1st. Unless it gets revealed before then. I've known the answer for some time, obviously. I just like the speculation. Edited for bonus info: Oh, as for more animated hats DLC, NO. We wouldn't charge money for hats. However, we might just do a HATS ONLY update for update 5 that adds a ton of hats, including really expensive animated ones. If people seem to like that, we'll probably settle into a schedule of alternating small updates (hats!) and big updates (level sets!). Levels would generally coincide with new game releases.
