I agree, I am probably the most hard-core hooker, because I have all achievements, (woot!) #1 in local scores on EVERY MAP except gold skull, gold rat, and hat levels... Only thing I'm missing is buying everything in the game and the few local scores I haven't gotten yet... Kepa should give me a RocketCat hat... I deserve it. (WHERE'S MY HAT GUIDE?) :O The Stone Hatbox is the hardest, Bronze is pretty easy, and Silver is pretty hard. For Stone you need Gunny, Bronze is best with Gunny (to shoot through the the walls), and Silver you need Jake. Good luck! Took me like a week to burn through it.
The total coin leaderboard should include the coins you have spent on hats and upgrades. I keep going up and down cause I'm saving for big upgrades. I'm about half way to my first 3k hook. Shooting for picking up one today. Probably for hookbot first since I've been using him the most lately. Love that thing.
Ahh... Hookbot. That's my Openfient name, you know. Yes, I have his hook. Very cool too, the rope is like a laster, the hook is nice too. Sounds like a lightsaver when it is swung. Very nice choice. BTW: Does anybody know how to create 8-bit sprites etc? I need a program where I can create 8-bit images, just for fun.
o mah gah, now I have to score this one tonight. Forget trying to clear Gold Rat and Skull. I want mah hook!
You can make some coins doing those maps though, because they have a good amount of loot. Whether you die or not, you still get the loot you collected. (unless you restart or quit during the map)
I finally got a good run on Golden Skull. Still behind qpawn by 11 points. Zoo, sorry for bumping you down to third. But I know I can get a better run. I'll keep trying. EDIT: I just beat qpawn's score by 2 points. I know that won't last. EDIT2: And it has beaten me by 8 points.
Make your own hat guide somewhere and I'll link to it on the blog. Rocketcat hat is Developer Only. We might expand the exclusive hats concept more in the next game. I was thinking of having each character have a crown in the next game, and making it so you only unlocked the crown for a character you got a #1 global score with. I would even make even bigger crown for people that got a #1 global score in every single mode possible, at the same time, but that would really infuriate people. At one point I was even considering removing the achievement for getting #1 global scores. I think that will stay, just because I like the sense of competition it fosters. What I probably will end up doing is not having any Secret achievements... those are mostly for Xbox games, really. The secret achievement is received for just getting past a certain point in the story, so it's censored for spoiler purposes.
Hah I'm the friend. I've delayed spending the extra $.99 but I noticed before (via Twitter) that the DLC buys Kepa pizza rolls and I am an experienced eater of said food and understand the importance. Chrono Gear actually can take quite a bit of credit though. We'll see about Zelle, my other $.99 might have to buy me some.
I just purchased Hookbot, but when I try to select Hookbot to play, the game still prompts me to purchase it, as if I had never bought it before. I just checked my iTunes account, and it has my 99 cent in-app purchase listed, so I know that it went through. Has anyone else had this issue, or am I missing something really obvious?
Thanks for the encouragement, I'd beat Stone Hat prior to losing my data so I know what I'm in for with that one. I only got to play Bronze Hat a couple times, but I know it's going to be rough. Can't wait to get back to that point in the game, might just make that my goal for the night. Oh, and nice Hook Champ review in the User Review Section. Hats should be the only driving force you need to plunk down that extra dollar, Veech. We buy the hats... Kepa buys the Totino's. Everybody's happy. Speaking of Totino's, does this count as fan art?? @jase: Try purchasing Hookbot again, it shouldn't charge you for it as long as it's the same iTunes account you bought it with the first time.
I had a similar issue. It didn't show up right away for me either. Try any of the following in any order or combination: attempt to repurchase it, restart the app, run a level and come back, visit the in game store. I think I got it after a repurchase attempt. Looks like my promotion of the Hookbot is going to help keep Kepa fed! Speaking of, I really think new character types make the best DLC. Hookbot is more fun than Zelle because hes so different. If you're hardcore enough you're gonna buy both anyway like I did. Totino's ftw.

hehe now all we need is for somebody to get hundreds, dip them in food colouring, and make a full colour icon (I can't, they don't sell pizza rolls where I live ) EDIT: What exactly ARE pizza rolls? from the looks of the pictures, they seem to be pizza, just rolled up? or are they different? EDIT2(the movie the game) : I just looked at the all powerful internets and they look a bit like mini pittas with cheese and tomato? They are little bite size snacks, think of a super teeny tiny hot pocket. That's the best association I can think of for them.
We should have had an officiated contest by Kepa for a RocketCat hat. Perhaps Kepa would authorize a contest anyway. My entry is in regardless
