Oooohke. Anyway, so I played for about 2 hours and will give a very brief overview.

    1) Anime as hell. Better love it.
    2) Graphics are pretty sweet though.
    3) pretty much a level based brawler / button mashup with a bit of emphasis on timing those taps.
    4) in between that you'll basically be levelling up your gear, and I think team (though I didn't go too far in to that)
    5) I'm getting strong grinding vibes. The grind will be real I sense.
    6) framerate drop like buggery on a 6+, but hey, that's cool, it's an older device now and I'm hanging out for an iPhone Xplus, that will be rad.
    7) kind of get a monster hunter gameplay kind of vibe (sorry I don't play much of these so not sure what else to compare it to). But battles seem to be way less long and involving as monster hunter. I'm pretty sure there's quite a number of these types of games out there using this formula; Action button mashup with emphasis on button mash timing, some limited RPG, items earned from battle and you put that toward your character, rinse and repeat.
    8) Action played in stage battles which are short and consist of a handful up to kind of a boss battle.
    9) Chesty wobbles.

As it stands, it's a delete from me, but for many many others I can see an attraction. Probably on the addiction side of things. There's definitely a formula behind this game for grabbing their audience and encouraging you to play one more stage (stages are very short).

This might be one of the best looking iOS games to date clocking in at about 2.9 GBs; I think the next biggest games I've got in my library are Grid Autosport and Jade Empire: Special Edition. I've amassed about an hour or two of gameplay; there's a lot going on within each individual menu but this title delivers. I just wish it was offline, I can't stand the fact that I've got to be connected to their servers to play but that's every game these days.

Yep — Bayonetta is what this game is going for. The big difference is that, for all the cheesecake, Bayonetta is very much a strong, independent character, while here you command androids that treat you like their “master.” It’s not terrible (they say things like “that wasn’t bad for a human”) but there’s still something awkwardly sexist about the whole set up.

Aside from the short stages (which are all too common these days), the game plays really well, though, and it does look fantastic. I think I’ll stick around for a bit, at least.

Does iap hinder gameplay? Or is there a one time IAP that makes it premium mode?

I'll help you play the attached video on TA. :)
You are right. The global version will follow the order of the soft version update.

If you choose one of your questions, it is closer to the former. But the use of IAP depends on how much you enjoy the game. And one of the positive evaluations of this game is that it takes a different approach from the existing gacha IAP system.

Too much censorship in this global release. Stigmata all censored, can’t touch the valks. Censored as hell. They should learn from King’s Raid. Shame Mihoyo.

I can see where your priorities lie — considering that King’s Road is basically autoplay.

To be clear, all that stuff would be reasons for me not to play the game.

Although the IGN tends to overestimate the game, this famous web site covered articles about this game.
    http://www.ign.com/articles/2018/03/28/honkai-impact-3rd-big-in-japan-coming-to-america

And the game developer, miHoYo, and figure specialist production company, goodsmile, are going to sell the goods of this game character Sakura in limited quantity for about one month after the official release date of this game. Of course, global shipping is available, so check if you are interested. :p

Hello! Wanted to chime in to spread some love for the game. It's one of the few f2p mobile titles that I actually enjoy as a whole. It doesn't revolutionize anything, but the core gameplay loop is solid. A shame it still belongs to the whole "gacha-machine" category, but oh well. The battle against that was lost long ago. You collect characters, level them up, gear them up, "star" them up... Nothing exciting here.

But! But. The combat. In combat Honkai (Houkai?) Impact is a third-person action with 60 FPS, "perfect dodging" mechanic (yay), a number of combos (albeit that aspect is quite simplistic) and very fast pace. It also feels rather responsive. You can dodge several times in a row dashing around the enemy, slowing down time as you perform a perfect dodge and instantly switching into another character at the right time to trigger various special on-switch moves. It certainly helps that the game looks amazing. Well, if you're not a fan of the cel-shaded 3D anime aesthetic, then you might want to look somehwere else, but otherwise the quality on display is top-notch. Graphics are vibrant, crisp and pretty high-definition.

Surprisingly, there is also a decent storyline involving the fight against Earth's defense systems and humanity's supposed protectors being shady. Characters also have nice background stories. And what's more: the whole story is fully voice-acted! I'm really tired of the bait-and-switch tactics of "let's get voice acting for prologue and maybe chapter one, that will fool them". Honkai Impact 3rd has quite a high profile cast of voice actors (at least in the Japanese dub, can't say anything about original Chinese voices) and a good amount of dialogue. Although, you need to download voice files manually from your profile in the game, since by default the voices do indeed stop after chapter one, so keep that in mind.

The guild system also has some interesting moments. Each guild (or armada as they call them here) has a base in the vein of XCOM (2012), although a much simpler version. Guild members also get access to a separate challenge mode that differs from the regular game quite a bit. It has more of a roguelite-ish feeling to it with modifiers both for you and enemies, traders, bonus objectives and so on. There is also co-op mode for some extra challenges, although you can only enter it with a ticket. And, as you might imagine, you don't get many of them. You only get one per day for each challenge, in fact. Quite stingy.

All in all, I am very surprised. The game about anime girls in skimpy outfits fighting a mash-up of monsters, zombies and mechs has no right to be this good. And yet it is, and it's wonderful. That's it for my impressions of the game, I hope someone would find them helpful in deciding whether to give Honkai Impact a try or not.

If Ai-chan sees your love letter, she will like it. ;)
And this game still has a lot of additional content to be updated.

Woah! This game is so rad! I can't wait to put more time into it. So much fun. It makes me happy to know these ARPG style games are becoming more in depth as opposed to casual or auto attack.

Recently, there was a lecture on Honkai Impact 3rd in NDC's global session. The lecturer is Wenyi Jin, vice president(and overseas business chief) of miHoYo. The theme of the lecture was 'Development and service case from IP strategy perspective in Honkai Impact'.

At the time of the global launch of this game, there were comments from some TA users who did not know why the game was so popular. Soon there may be articles about this in game media. In summary, the key points of the lecture are as follows.

    - Honkai's popularity is due to its solid IP expansion.

Honkai 3rd is a game based on 'Honkai' IP. It is connected contents such as animations, comics, novels, and music that have accumulated steadily since the previous works. They are connected by a single IP to help users (fans) understand the 'Honkai' worldview. It has been expanded with the base of its own IP developed and has gathered users.

Wenyi Jin, Overseas Business chief, emphasized that comics played an important role in IP expansion. miHoYo has built its own line through comics series, which has been on the Honkai Worldview since 2014, and has produced many related products. Comics has been published once a week and a total of 60 times has been announced. Wenyi Jin said that 30 million read comics.

Comics plays an important role because it is the most effective content for delivering the game world view. Exposure to comics in pre-test form and feedback to users before new characters and worldviews are announced to the game. Through this, MiHoYo understands the user's taste and applies appropriate characters to the game.

miHoYo is also working on game related CG. miHoYo has built its own animation studio since 2016, and it also produces video related to game setting related CG and world view setting. miHoYo said it will create a variety of videos to add to the user's enjoyment and will capture the charm of the main character. Music has also played an important role in strengthening IP. miHoYo also made theme songs, in-game BGM, and character-related music, and registered them on various sound recording sites. These are also part of the revenue.

    - Communication with users is also important, it is a kind of collaboration for IP expansion.

In the case of social platforms, it is used as a means of actively communicating with users. Various reactions are checked from time to time, and user activity is active.

Famous cosplayers are also cosplaying the characters in the game, and they are getting their second publicity, notifying their community of Honkai 3rd. The company said it is actively supporting users' second creative activities. It is used as an interesting material for users and at the same time it is a good way to appeal to Honkai IP.

Offline events are also in progress to communicate with users. miHoYo participated in various game events. miHoYo said that it met with users through off-line and collected diverse opinions about games and contents and delivered them to the development team.

According to Wenyi Jin, miHoYo encourages and communicates with fans and various communities so that users can create various contents using game characters and so on. Furthermore, the company internal decision process gives priority to users' interests. And that it is important to try to communicate that the company is thinking for the user.

MiHoYo, which started in 2011 with three master's graduates, currently has about 400 employees and has posted sales of $ 230 million over the past seven years. And profits increased by more than 300% over the previous year.

If you are interested, it would be better to check it out if a formal article related to it is posted. My comment may be lacking because I have referenced the local article in English with a double translation. Just, see for reference only.

Anyway, I hope my comments will help you understand this game. :)

If you are interested in the side story of Sakura among the most popular characters in this game, check out the following video. Sometimes watching other players' videos is a good way to experience the game indirectly. The video is fortunately in English.:p

One of the reasons why this game is so popular is the steady update with attractive characters. :)
