Anyone manage to delete the pre-installed games? They are reappearing after I delete them from the documents folder.
look at the post by wings... there's people that has the most recent iOS installed and try to revert to a previous one (like my cousin when 8.0 came out), and the process always cause several issues, mostly in other iOS apps. an upgrade shouldn't be the same, but i'm not very confident about this.
The error only happens on downgrading os... About workaround, I'm very skeptical about it... There will be no workaround i think...
So this does not work for ios8.3 since it just came out, can dev please post when you guys will have a new patch update that will work on iOS 8.3? It's kinda a hassle to downgrade, and easier to just wait for patch.
If you would bother reading the thread, you would see the app works fine with iOS 8.3. It's iexplorer and ifunbox that don't work with iOS 8.3, so an update to this app would solve nothing. It's iexplorer and ifunbox that need updated, get your facts straight. Also the developer has not stopped in the thread yet, so I'm not sure who your post is aimed at.
The pre-installed games are actually stored in the .app folder along with the rest of the game files, they get copied to the documents folder on startup. You could try deleting them there, but back up the app first.
Builds.io charges ten dollars per year, which is reasonable if you consider they do the heavy lifting for you. They make sure they have the most up-to-date builds of the emulators they mention on their website, and, since they sign them with a enterprise certificate, you can use them without being jailbroken. As for the rom loading, they don't need to worry about the sideload like we would with Homebrew Indie Games. All the emulators have natural iTunes file import, so you'd just do it through your computer, same as if you were putting movies into VLC. It also looks like they're hosting Povenance, which looks like a more "iOS" version of Retroarch, though without nearly the same number of cores currently. IF you don't want to play whack-a-mole with the App Store every couple months, it might be a decent investment. But as long as I'm jailbroken, I'll opt out myself.
Also I like Game Play Color, which is a free gbc emulator web app which can be added to home screen so functions like a regular app and has no updating or certificate problems.
i would like an update that supports also iOS 7.x, but nobody knows who the dev is. anyway, i still don't understand why the 90% of devs still support 7.x, and only a few ones don't... is there a specific reason more than cut out older devices owners and help "mom Apple" to sell newer ones??? have this devs any special price for that?
I actually can't find a ".app" folder. I'm using iexlorer and when I select the app I see 4 folders : documents, library, storekit, and top.
Finally back at home and fired up ifunbox All the files are in the Documents folder, i'll delete them later. Have to create some JPG's of my favourite games before i put those in. So far so good
Thanks for the detailed reply! I'm not sure I'm willing to pay a yearly fee for emulators, but it's nice to know it's an option for non-jailbroken iDevices. Here's hoping they find a workaround for iFunbox.
I'm with builds.io and its great (just want retroarch to work though !). $10 for one year is nothing and well worth it, throwaway money for a year. Got tons of NES/GB/Genesis and other games working fine
Let me know if you have any luck permanently removing the pre installed games. I also wish there was a faster way to scroll between roms in the app... Good luck if you're like me and have 300+ roms loaded!
Another update wish is that they fix the bottom menu from blocking the name of the rom in Landscape mode. (The only mode you can actually play the games in)
Thanks for posting up some positive impressions. I may end up giving it a go. It's just that I've already got SO many actual ios games I STILL haven't played yet. I'm not sure if I really need an bunch of emulators to further add the growing list. LOL!
