Game definitely has potential. Tactical action strategy game with simplified gameplay and controls that perfectly suits mobile. Game does save mid-runs so that’s another good thing. The story is quite interesting and something that we can all relate to. Not a fan of the menu UI though. Feels a bit unintuitive and overcomplicated. My only concern is the F2P aspect of it. Hard to tell now so have to play more to see if the difficulty ramps up unfairly or the game becomes too much of a grind. Worth giving it a go though. Not your typical mobile game. squarezero likes this. sebgo Well-Known Member Dec 26, 2010 830 397 63 Male 95% leisure. Rocksaint Well-Known Member Nov 29, 2013 666 367 63 #7 Rocksaint, Apr 12, 2024 I know people are against IAPs and loot boxes and whatnot but how else do you expect a F2P game to make money? You think in today’s market it is easy to make a game, sell it at box price and make profits from it? You know the cut that platforms like Apple, Google or Sony take to keep games on their platform? I am not trying to promote predatory monetisations here. But I hope people are at least considerate enough to try and understand the other side of the story too. naghihimutuc, ste86uk, sebgo and 1 other person like this. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,714 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #8 squarezero, Apr 12, 2024 I get it if folks don’t want to support gacha monetization, but at this point there are enough legit games using the mechanic that I can’t get too upset about it. And you are right that it’s hard to imagine a game like Genshin Impact existing primarily on mobile as a “premium” game. The question for me is: is it a real game, or just about collecting? This is clearly a real game, made by people who cared deeply about creating a quality experience. As for personal taste, the more free-to-play monetization mechanics a game has, the least I'm interested in even trying it. That's all, it's not like I'm against the makers of said content, nor do I judge them as greedy creatures; I'm just not interested in their products and I welcome feedback warnings. I know I don't like sushi, so when I've been offered some or told something tastes like it, I've been like "hell no, I'll pass". Edit: That's somehow a sad thing, though. You're saying it's a quality experience, a game that has potential; then why didn't they go with a free-to-try, ads-based or premium model? Gacha tends to be used to perpetuate user interaction through ephemeral bits of joy, assuming lady luck is on the player's side, rather than actually adding to it in a meaningful way (I don't know if that's the case here; it's just a general thought). I don't understand... it almost sounds like they discarded a chance to succeed above the general market and decided to follow the trend. We are very concerned about the player experience in our game during its creation. We want players to enjoy a good gaming experience through replaying levels or waiting, even if they don't pay, so we haven't set up restrictions like energy in the game. Instead, we allow players to infinitely obtain equipment and money from levels, with most of the equipment being available for free. On the other hand, we also want casual players to enjoy the game, so we've added some offline earnings, such as supply chests, which allow players to gain some resources even when they are offline and tired. Of course, if players are willing to pay a little to support us, we are very welcoming of that, as developing a game involves significant costs. As you can see, we have put a lot of effort into the game. It includes a pixel dressing system that few people have implemented, where each character has several outfits, and each outfit can be changed in parts, all presented for free, not sold as cosmetics. There's also more than 100,000 words of storyline, hundreds of levels, and many other features. Our team is small, and this game has been in development for a long time. We do not want to create a purely pay-to-win game but hope to make a game that all kinds of players can enjoy, as we are also avid gamers ourselves. ste86uk, Rocksaint and sebgo like this. fayyua Member Jul 21, 2011 8 6 3 #11 fayyua, Apr 13, 2024 Thank you for your interest in the game.
