Hey, I am too. I'm genuinely curious about what he's talking about, at least the "knowing why" part. If I did reject a request, it was because I wasn't sure who the person was. Nothing mean-spirited or like targeting a specific TA member. But really I don't want to derail the thread any further. Let's get back to Hitman
Wait a second. "You've been all over TA today trashing this game" Is this not a place to give your opinion? I come on here to read peoples opinions and weigh whether or not I want to make a purchase because people on here are usually more honest than the reviews in the app store. I want people knowing full well that it pretty much is a puzzler and doesn't add anything exciting to the game. I could say the same thing for you. You've been on here trolling around defending a game. I asked you a question. What makes it so great?! You don't answer. You just keep bashing my opinion.
That's a new one, trolling in a positive way I guess..... But seriously, if you don't like the game that's fine with me. And you've been very clear about that. Over, and over, and over again. It's not for everyone, as some people don't like puzzlers and some people don't like stealth games. But as a puzzler and stealth game, it's very good in my opinion. And what really puts it over the top, what separates it from the pack, is it's visual presentation. It's like playing a real board game on my IPad. It's not going to get your adrenaline going, and it's not going to frustrate you, but it is a lot of fun.
I already said visually it's second to none. The game isn't anything new, that's what I pointed out on this forum once and in the other forum for this game twice. Or as you would say over and over again. I established my position on the game for anyone who may agree with me. I put my opinion out there just like others because not everyone has the same taste. I read certain peoples comments because after trial and error, I've come to identify with certain peoples taste and agree with their judgements. Just as some may agree with mine.
Funkybunch might have a point but he uses so many words! Anyone know the music in the launch trailer? Is it from the game?
For what it's worth, I heard there was going to be a Hitman mobile game. I wanted a smaller version of Hitman 2 or Contracts. So I got excited. Then I saw this and was initially bummed. It didn't ooze Hitman vibe to me. It looked too 50's-esque for my taste... And then I bought it to support SE. And, man, I'm glad I did! This game may not be a mobile version of Hitman Contracts, but it is a very entertaining puzzle board game that is SO well designed and made. Kudos to SE Montreal. I mean, this makes WAY more sense than Sega making a fast running hedgehog do nothing but jump straight up! Now I'm really hoping we'll see more level packs based on Hitman levels in previous games.
I insta-bought because I was hooked in by the visual style. The art design in this game is top notch. I was more than a little disappointed when I found out that it's a 'slide the piece' style puzzler. I love puzzle games, but this particular type of puzzle game is just not for me. I will reserve judgement and not leave a star rating. I feel that it's MY fault for not taking five minutes to figure out exactly what kind of game it is. I once saw a review on amazon for one of my favorite graphic novels where the reviewer gave the book one star. His reasoning was that he didn't realize that it was a comic book and that he absolutely hates comic books. Sadly for this closed minded fellow, he missed out on an amazing story. I sort of got off track there, but I'm sure you get what I'm saying. Still, this game deserves tons of kudos for the amazing level of quality that the devs put into its presentation. I give it five stars for style, 2.5 for gameplay.
I was one of the naysayers in the forum here. As an avid fan of the series, seeing the gameplay I loved reduced to this...let's just say my impressions of screenshots and gameplay weren't positive But the forum impressions and reviews convinced me to give the game a chance and I'm glad I did. Hitman Go may not be the kind of Hitman I would have preferred on IOS but it's far from the abomination I had been anticipating. Rather than being a strike against the franchise, Hitman Go somehow is able to remain true to the series' core mechanics while distilling those elements to a mobile-friendly package with a fantastic presentation. Compared to other stealth series like Splinter Cell and Thief, the Hitman franchise was always best enjoyed as stealth puzzle games IMO. Methodically setting up your assassination, putting pieces in motion, the right disguise in the right place at the right time. Hitman Go takes that foundation and strips the gameplay down to its purest stealth puzzle form. The series' key elements still remain - distractions, disguises, guards and targets - but are presented in a wonderfully realized board-game aesthetic. The gameplay is as methodical as ever, perhaps even more so here than in its console/PC brethren, since enemies move when you move and without planning ahead, the wrong move will find you cornered or dead. Different guard behaviors and various objectives for missions that require different routes add replay value and challenge But any impressions of Hitman Go would be lacking without praising its presentation. This game probably has one of the slickest, stylish aesthetics I've seen in a mobile game, down to the wooden tabletop, figurines, and Level # label on the side. If there was one thing I'd like to see added, it would be a turn counter so I could track my moves while attempting objectives. But other than that, Hitman Go is an excellent game that remains true to the series while presenting the gameplay through an interesting unique aesthetic. I definitely recommend Hitman Go
Part of me wants to be sarcastic and say, "If only there was another way of keeping track of your moves..." Mostly, though, I wish there was a move counter because I'm so poor at keeping track of my moves.
What I would like is a free camera mode with zooming option so I can marvel the graphic from every angles.
I'm about to hit the buy button but before I do, can someone quickly tell me if I have to buy new levels via IAP? Are there any plans for future free updates or will they be going the route of premium and then pay for more content updates?
I don't know anything about future updates, but everything is unlocked via a "star system". The iAP is for those that want to skip ahead.
Just bought it and played the first few levels and I have to agree with you. It's hard to maneuvre across the board when one enemy piece is blocked by the top of the screen and as I try to pull towards that direction, it just bounces back and I am stuck with the preset and rather limited angle view that they've got going. Anyways I'm really liking it so far. It's a clever take on the classic game.
This is in fact a great game. I wish I knew more like it. I believe my post in this forum was misunderstood and it came off as me insulting Hitman when I was speaking about the price tag of games in general. I sent Bronxsta a private apology over a misunderstanding. This board version of Hitman has tons of replayablity because of the multiple goals on each level. As far as Chillingo goes, I 'used' to love them but they are turning out to be a mega disappointment, thanks to EA. Glad that numerous old Chillingo games are stored on the original iPad, but they are pretty much physics games. The only Chillingo game I'm pumped for is a rumored Parking Mania 2.
I want to like this game. I'm going to try really hard to like this game. (That last statement goes against everything I believe in.) I feel that if I can totally grok the finer strategy elements of this game then I will like it a lot more. The thing is, sometimes I'm not able to complete some of the goals, and I can't figure out why. I'm not really looking for someone to give me the solutions. I want to be able to learn the techniques to find the solutions on my own.
