iPad Hill Billy or Wolf3D?

Discussion in 'iPhone and iPad Games' started by ta11on, Mar 30, 2009.

  1. I have never played the original Wolfenstein3D, and it looks pretty fun.
But Hill Billy has good lookin' graphics, although I'm not sure of it's actual gameplay. What would you guys recommend?

    Wolf3D, without a doubt.

You're probably going to get flamed for posting this question though. ^ ^

Lots of folks in these parts are rather irritable and cranky.

    Here comes irritable and cranky.

Don't be lazy, search on here, watch reviews, read threads.

    This is not the way.

I just played wolf 3d and the controls are perfect for the gameplay. It shows the developer didn't just do a sloppy port and actually redesigned several elements for the iphone version (including making good controls which is 100% necessary).

Can't speak for hill billy though.

if you do not like these which game threads don't open them up and don't comment on them. I see that you comment on many which game threads saying to use the search. some people just want help in there decision of a game.

If you've never played Wolfenstein, you won't like it as much as people who have played it. It's still a great game, though. There's a ton of maps and the cheat codes are still there if you just want to go on a rampage. The controls are perfect too.

Hill Billy is a lot of fun so far and, despite the lack of levels, seems to have plenty of replayabilty since it keeps scores. It like having a TD game with only a couple maps (this has five, though). The controls are good, but I still think Wolfenstein got it right.

They're different kinds of games. Wolfenstein is an adventure game with tons of maps and mazes and Hill Billy is sort of arcade like.

  8. Wolfenstein has 60 levels of gameplay with unique difficulty settings and more secrets then the old lady living in the house down the block.........see where I'm going with this :p

    i wouldn't say that sucks.
i love old games and old graphic style, and i'm happy they ported it just the way it is. :)

I couldn't disagree more. The graphics are keeping with the original. Updating them would have absolutely ruined the game.

    np,is just my opinion :)

No clue, better sprite can't ruin the game.

  15. Think Hilly Billy moves too fast on ipod touch 2g. I think it'll probably be ok on ipod touch 1g or iphone 1g or 3g though. Still for pure gameplay/controls have to give nod to Wolfenstein 3D.

The selling point might be Wolfenstein's title and loading screen. It's a dude with huge muscles and a mullet firing a machine gun into the air while kicking a Nazi in the face. It's an early 90's overload. How could you not love that?

Wolf3d offers a very lengthy gameplay. Its worth the $5.

    It's kind of like this.
Be careful, though: you might go blind from the awesomeness.

That is exactly the same PC box I had when I bought Wolfenstein 3D back in 1996! I probably still have it somewhere in a box! :D
