Hey guys I just bought my first ipod :D

I just have a few questions

Any tips for extending battery life? This thing dies in like 3 hours =/
I don't know if I did my first cycle wrong but I would at least try to pump 5 hours out of the thing. Especially since I am going on two 4 hour car trips with some friends this week.

And any recommendations to a new member and ipod user?

Thanks guys i'll be seeing you around

    Turn brightness down.
    Turn wifi/bluetooth off
Disable any online services in game.
and dont try and run multiple things at once.

or just listen to music :D

I don't even fully understand what bluetooth does.. lol. But thanks for the tips I'll do those things now.

Having wifi on the entire car-trip would have drained the battery then? Good thing you said something!

Yeah because if it is on, it is constantly checking and trying to find a wifi connection.

sure! only turn on things when you need them, and/ or have access to a charger!

    Perv, why do you care?
    Turn off notifications.

Bluetooth can be used for interacting between iPods.

Get an external battery or car charger.

    Welcome to TA!

Ipod Touch game player person like thing????

it something that allows for 2 devices to talk directly to each other, like for multiplayer games. wifi and screen are the biggest battery suckers. have wifi on only when your in a wifi zone or your battery will drain insanly fast.

It is very similar to Wifi except it is for connecting 2 devices and a shorter range then Wifi.

Ya, turn off Location services, brightness down, and wifi off when you dont need it. I am guessing you can get like 30 mins to an hour more with Wifi off and multiple hours of time with brightness at like 25%

    Fixed that for you. :p

Seriously, it's much slower, has crap range, drains more battery, has a far more restrictive feature set, and supports considerable weaker encryption.

It's an obsolete protocol that needs to be phased out.

TURN OFF PUSH NOTIFICATIONS. They KILL battery, and they're not very useful

    Pretty good.

Just got back from a 4 hour trip.

My ipod lasted 3 hours and died. I had wifi off, notifications off, and brightness at about 35%.

I was playing games the entire time. Including: Minigore, Scoops, Gangstar, Glass Tower, that one new Pirate game, etc.

So is that about the average battery life? Adding in the fact that I was gaming the entire time.

Ya, Gaming uses it up. Anything 3D will eat it up even fast.

Gaming kills it. Think yourself lucky you even got 3 hours, I barely get 2 on my 3GS.
