Hope they bring back the free gems list too after the rest of the fixes. It wasn't working well any way and most gems didn't get credited but I saw one free option on the list for 142 gems or something like that. They say they didnt anticipate so many people... What I think the most likely truth is, that actually they picked a terrible server on purpose to see the average ammount of people logged in per day, to get a server that will work but still in the range of cheapest possible options. As mentioned before, this situation would be entirely avoidable with good stress testing methods to test the active server theoretical maximum load. It's not hard, but as its Gameloft I guess they wouldn't care about good methods like that, most professionals would say testing these things is a necessary requirement. In certain sectors if it's not done and a business is challenged they will often get slammed hard. Thankfully the game is fun enough, but if it was a boring freemium (like that MIB game) then I would have been on a personal boycott Hopefully this game proves to be popular enough in that Gameloft actually decides to change some methods of business and show that games like this can have longevity on IOS. Now that would be something!
I'm a little divided on the subject whether a full-scale MOBA is really right for mobile devices (and match length in HoO&C does seem to at least occasionally approach LoL, HoN and the others). Just like someone pointed out, since this game requires WiFi, in many ways we might as well play a desktop MOBA. On the other hand, I have long been a proponent for full-scale desktop games on portable devices (in ADDITION to mobile-ized, pocket-sized experiences). Plus, these days I rarely bring my laptop along when I travel, but I have WiFi acess almost everywhere I stay the night, which means that having a MOBA in my pocket still serves a purpose. In conclusion, I want it all, of course. I'd like to have seen HoO&C default to shorter matches (perhaps by increasing xp and gold gain, debuffing towers, or tons of other, probably more clever methods), with a run time of 5-15 minutes per match, but also include an "extended" mode, similar to the current match lengths (and desktop MOBAs). There is also the hope that Gameloft might eventually enable gameplay over 3G, like they did with Order & Chaos Online (as a general rule, MMOs place a higher demand on bandwidth than MOBAs, so this might actually be viable). Has anyone tried HoO&C on an unrestricted 3G device? How does it run?
The game is already pumped and overflowing with people who don't learn the basics. Unfortunately, lowering the time of games will make that particular pool of players an even greater one. Most of them just can't be bothered, when I offer good advice about positioning and gameplay styles it is often ignored and the other team is allowed to steamroll. Age is not a problem here, but maturity is and this game does fit a more mature audience. It would also potentially encourage afk win farming. After all, it already happens just get one person on the team who wants to play and can do so competently then generally others see it as a free win. The success of the style of game will encourage players who know this sort of game already to play it and encourage even more. This will offset people joining and leaving who find out the game is not for them, sadly this needs to happen because there are a few ways these kinds of players can grief now. It will also encourage leeeeeroy Jenkins! style gameplay. Goodness knows there is enough of that already, people who rush to the front line without a care in the world because the good player or two will carry them to victory so they can enjoy having a laugh at the expense of others. No... Lowering game time would create massive issues, there are enough of those already. Just to add on though, I still respect your opinion and can definitely see where you are coming from (mobile devices have after all catered to the more frivolous audience.) but a change is most welcome in my opinion As an aside to think about, With the servers there way there are we can't really efficiently judge how long games will take.
Still very much the same unfortunately, I can get the occasional game to work by taking it out of the task bar and resetting the connection to the server. I don't see why that should work but it does, though it can take multiples of times.
Game Impressions Deleted this just a second ago because matches take 30 mins or so and I don't have 30 mins sometimes to dedicate to this. You have to spend $$ to get a Hero that won't die it seems or has strong magical powers/Support. I expected something different. I'm just not into MOBA. If it has a major upgrade, I might return but for now I'm out
I find that going to custom games is a lot more effective than letting the game decided. This game is fun but the connection issues are plaguing it
The bugs are getting worse, I've been told I have no internet connection... ... I wonder how i'm writing this post then? GREMLINS!
Due to the horrific connection issues, I've been using Solo mode which of course connects much faster.. For gathering relics / emblems / doodads, I was guessing that the 'live with other players' modes would return much more rewards to encourage you to play with others, but it's looking like it's about the same? Also I'm getting roughly 120-150, um, gold thingies per battle.. If I wanted to buy the Demon Hunter char, that would require 146 matches if the returns are all good, and up to 20 mins per match (not including connection issues), means 2933 mins, or 49 hours of constant playing?! Wowsers.. So, was it a fluke, and do the team or co-op games return more rewards?
Finally got a real MOBA fight!!!! 47 minutes 28 seconds (with long play achievement for 45 mins), 20 kills People were newbies, but definitely not noobs. Very very good game. Won it of course Btw se99jmk. Solo games are faster, especially since it is possible to push them under the 15 minute mark and if you want to look at money per minute, yeah they are better... as bots have no skill but the rewards are still good. Just remember one thing, characters are fun but once you reach certain levels I.e level 15, you better have enough cash to upgrade the next skill tier to stay ahead. The problem is if you save for the most expensive heroes, every one else who has become skilled with all heroes evenly will woop with any choice of higher tired skills. Of course on single player it doesn't matter too much and I'd allways say get your favourites, fortunately mine are cheap. Also remember, more expensive DOES NOT mean better and stronger (what it means is Gameloft think they can get more money for them) Except when you manage to get a level 15 end game, then class differences start to pay off. I have noticed a couple of these already with particular inequalities, each class has a role though.
