So this won't be a "lone warrior" type game? I'd love to play with a ton of allies and enemies all just clashing at once. By the description it looks as if this game has been the one I've been waiting for a long time.
Thanks for everyone who's joined so far! Oh no, not even close to lone warrior type game. Your hero is powerful, but from the very beginning we made a conscious decision to make sure that you could not win without a proper army and proper defenses... one of the key factors of Heroes & Castles is really feeling like you're just one champion fighting in a huge battle! Building the right types of units against the right enemies is one of the biggest parts of the game! For ex, hordes of goblins may require a sizeable force of AoE units like the Dwarven blunderbuss. Heavily armored skeletons will require the aid of armor piercing allies like Pikemen. Sometimes you will require a quick defense, quickly getting a sizeable force of cheap archers up. Many powerful units are too strong for just about any unit on its own, including your hero, so you can surround them and bog them down with cheap, expendable Peons, while your hero or other elite units do the damage. Except... we had to change the release date from the 15th It should be out next week though, if all goes to plan. But I won't post anything specific until we're 100% sure.
