Oh no, yeah, I was attacking the giant guy haha. Ahh, so he was on our side huh? Duh! Well, I'm gonna try to play a little so I get the hang of it, just lately no time, been playing motion and driving games on hdmi tv, but will give this game a little more time. But I did vote for it for the game of the week! Everyone go vote in the general gaming thread, for the game of the week!
Definitely not! Vote for some other game, I want to see JBRUU eating his iPod! Seriously though... H&C is leading big time in the poll, so it's safe to say it's gonna be the GotW. I'm still wondering how and why Heroes & Castles hit such a big audience. I thought that action/RPG/strategy mix-up would have a rather limited audience. Guess I was wrong.
Constant (like 1 in 3) crashes on lvl 14 as engy. Just catapults, skels, and mummies on this level, so not sure what's causing all the crashing. Also, holy Toledo I can't figure out how to deal with all the cats as engy. This stage is giving me tons of trouble and can't figure it out lol. Any tips from engys? Tried blunder, tried walls early, tried rifle, tried towers... Just can't figure it
I'm new to iphone gaming in general, but I just picked up your game Heroes & Castles and I'm enjoying it quite a lot, I had some questions that I haven't been able to answer while browsing this thread(rather lightly) and other info sites, forgive me if they've been answered already. Does the Captain's buff stack with other Captains, and if so, up to how many times? Do the Repairmen benefit from Longbeard's buffs, and does Longbeard buff everyone on the walls or only his section? Do the Repairmen benefit from the Dwarven Hut? Do Catapults benefit from the Captain's buffs? I had others as I was playing but I seem to have forgotten them now, I'll try to get back to you with those. Also, would there be any chance of an increase in the Engineer's weapon spread? Not necessarily allowing him to hit multiple targets per shot, but perhaps granting a little more leniency in the heat of battle when you're strafing and kiting, trying to line up a hard shot on the small screen. Just throwing it out there. I'd also point out a small typo in the Repairman's upgrade description screen. Terrific game, I look forward to it's future.
Oh yea and any chance on sensitivity control for vertical? Or just the ability to turn it off? Or more arc of fire for targets above or below you? I regularly shoot into the sky or ground while kiting because of the mechanics. (not completely but it doesn't take much to shoot over a mobs head) It might seem like I complain a lot, but I'm just offering up suggestions on the stuff I'm noticing. Game itself is phenomenal, and already voted it gotw plus spent two bucks on my first-ever iap. I'm a very very very experienced long time gamer and beta tester and this is the first time I've been encouraged to support the devs financially. Awesome awesome game for 2 bucks guys!!
Ok after some testing on lvl 23 where all the enemies are the same, I believe captain bonuses stack. I sent a single troop of pikemen out with a captain and tracked avg dmg. Then I added a captain and indeed the groups dmg went up. After adding a third captain the dmg went up yet again as far as I could tell. Ill need dev confirmation but im pretty sure my findings are accurate. What I do know is that in my groups with 1 captain I usually get around 50 dmg or so, but in larger groups w more captains and my paladin bonus ive had my troops hitting for 300 a strike.
Oh, another suggestion I'd like to throw out for the devs -- would it be reasonable to make head shots do extra damage? Greater chance of missing, but it would make handling armored foes much more workable for skilled players who love to get their hands dirty...
A few days on and still loving it. Thanks again. I know it's been mentioned before but is there any chance of implementing a skill reset. I understand that you will have all skills before finishing the campaign, but it would be great to have a way of testing and trailing different builds to see what works for your play style. A few gems to buy a skill reset surely wouldn't go astray. Cheers and beers.
I just sat back on an early level with seven gold mines behind stone walls piling up gold so I could see how many giants I could spawn at once. Got an army of eight giants going and charged down the field with them to watch them tear the enemy apart ! (I was limited by population limit rather than gold) I'm going to challenge myself to beating the early levels with a single unit type. Blunderbuss army next ! Lol.
Maybe as a passive skill for the engineer. I was getting level 20 under control until the troll attacked when I was close behind the wall to give my giant some support. And he killed me! Is that possible?
yea, you can die when u are in your castle, especially by the enemy super big troll that does about 150 per hit. Im guessing you were "inside" the castle, but very close to the entrance. So u do gain life when your in the castle, but if you get hit, you also take damage, so plan accordingly.
The troll killed you trough the wall? How far from the wall were you? Why were you even close the wall, you know that engineer can shoot trough walls, right?
I was very close to the wall. I was close because I was supporting my giant(allies get a % boost). And no I didn't know that.
Playing the game today, was cool. Are there plans for moveable buttons? I would like to play this game just with 2 thumbs like a FPS game. The way the buttons are laid out, it almost seems to encourage playing with both thumbs and using your index finger for eye movement. Also, I kinda kept missing the hit button alot. I saw a couple of posts here that people wanted it, but never saw a response, is it in the works? Or will i forever have to play with my index finger?
Review is up at Slidetoplay, H&C got a 4/4 http://www.slidetoplay.com/review/heroes-and-castles-review/
Primoz: Thank you sooo much for your advice on 19 with the knight. Worked like a charm. The ironic thing is that I've spent more hours kiting zombies in CoD than I can imagine, much less care to admit. Never even thought to kite in this game. Very good to know. I also didn't realize you could attack an Orc and entice it to follow you. Is this the case with all enemies? Or at least the larger ones? Another very good to know. Anyway, thanks again...I was banging my head against the wall trying to figure this out. Foursaken: Love this game. Everyone else: Anyone up for some multiplayer? Looking for a knight or a paladin that likes to spam foot soldiers.
