Anyone know what the cool down time is of a ballista shot? During a recent coop game, we've seen a baddie take a couple shots at the same time. Guess is the ballista towers were built very close to one another. Worry is that if your first shot takes down the enemy, any others already launched could be wasted. Knowing the cool down, I could build them spread out in the rare cases I'm actually sitting on a wad of cash.
I don't know, but I'd actually love to see a list (Ahem, Foursaken! ) of attack times for all units. Damage is a nice number to see, but damage per second is more meaningful.
a lot of people dont even look at dps, if you give one thing 100 damage at 5 attacks a second or 500 damage at 1 attack every 3 seconds most people pick the 500 damage.
Yes, that's true. But DPS in a game like this definitely matters. Anybody have attack rates somewhere? Hmmm? Hope this thread isn't entirely dead...
I just picked up the free version yesterday to try out. Still not sure about this one yet, but saw the paid version went on sale for a buck, so I grabbed it. I started the paid version and saw that my progress didn't carry over, so had to start over (no big deal, wasn't very far into the campaign ayway). This did raise a question, though. If/when I get around to palying online, is there a difference between which version I play on? More specifically, do the free/paid versions play together, or do the players on the free clients only play with other players using the free clients, and paid players only play with other paid players? I only ask, because if they are separated, then I would want to spend my time progressing on the version of the game that has more players.
they play together so work on the paid version, iirc making runes is cheaper by 1 crystal and heros also cost less crystals (plus the fact you get 4 for free instead of 1) but im not completly sure on those since i had paid version since around week 2
Ok, thanks. I've played the first five levels on three of the characters so far, as well as a few seige rounds. Holy ####! This game is freaking sweet! I can't believe I ignored it so long. I thought it was going to be more like dungeon defenders, which I didn't really care for. This is so much more fun and a way better setup. In just playing these first few levels, I'm seeing the sheer awesomeness that awaits me as I progress further. Loving this.
on hinton one of the best heroes is the ranger, he gets kinda screwed in corte however because its a defence on a hill and he has angle limitations. the assassin can deal the most damage the fastest and has a backstab bonus, hes also the reason there is a damage cap in the game (and iirc the ENEMIES dont have a damagecap, i call bulls**t) the mage can be pretty tanky after leveling him up, he gets nice regen and you never need to put more hp on him cause he gets more max hp when he loses hp and his spells do good damage. Hey foursaken you should add other enemies to siege mode instead of just the original 3.
Thanks for the info. I bought the mage and druid last night. After playing the original four, plus the two I bought, I have to say that I don't dislike any of the characters, which is rare for me. I usually only like one or two characters/classes in games with such choices. But I'm finding all of the characters in this one pretty fun to play. I'm leaning toward the druid being my favorite right now. I really like the engineer, too, but I've always been horrible at targeting/shooting with a reticle, although I'm finding that doing such on a touch screen is much easier. The assassin just seems like pure murder to me, so that will also be one I will focus on.
Hooray! Thanks, Foursaken. Loving this game and will continue to buy its IAP Also, if it's easy enough to grab...any chance you might have skill ranges as well? No biggie if it's a hassle. Just hard to gauge some of the ranges. Even if it's just a comment along the lines of: Paladin shield is the same size as Mage lightning (this is probably inaccurate...just an example) Thanks again for such a terrific game. I just emailed a half dozen friends about the sale. Hope there's a sequel!
Cool! What does this mean? Looking forward to seeing that attack speed data...I bought crystals last night and, because of your generous offer to post some numbers, will buys some more right now. Thanks!
It just means the angle he can look up and down has been increased... its been a problem for Ranger since Corte (the 2nd campaign) was released. Anyway, here are some cooldown times! Remember, take these with a grain of salt... dps can be useful sometimes, but definitely is not the be all, end all when it comes to balance! Peon: 2.5s Pikemen: 2.5s Captain: 1.5s Longbeard: 3.5s Blunderbuss: 3.5s Archer: 3s Rifleman: 6.5s Giant: 2s Catapult: 10s Dreadnaught: 3.5s Cleric: 3.5s Crusader: 1.75s Treeman: 3.5s Sektah Warrior: 2.5s Barbarian: 3.5s Assassin: 2s Dire Wolf: 2s Foot Soldier: 4s Hunter: 5s Fire Wizard: 7s Ice Wizard: 10s Tank: 8s Archer Tower: 2s (decreases with upgrades) Ballista Tower: 15s Cannon Tower: 6s
This is amazing. Thank you! Incidentally, it appears that the Dwarven Hut doesn't increase the range of riflemen. Can anybody confirm this? I have tested it twice and, at least on level 1, the range does not increase when you build a Hut. Intended?
For anyone interested, the Mac version of Heroes and Castles was just approved, and will be slated for release next Thurs, Aug 1! The great part about the Mac version is you can seamlessly go between mobile and Mac versions with your iCloud save, and its multiplayer is fully cross-platform. It really feels nice to play with a keyboard and on a huge monitor It should... I'll have to double check.
The new version 2.02 with improved multiplayer connectivity sometimes has extremely low FPS on my iPad 4 during co-op mode. The overall FPS is reduced in those matches, and sometimes they are terribly low. I had big trouble to aim with the Ranger. I will continue to observe this, it's just some first impressions (Hinton co-op).
New version gives me extremely low fps on iPhone 4S, even with graphics turned down. It makes it pretty much non playable in coop Hinton. I'll keep at it maybe it improves with players with a better connection.
The co-op is definitely choppier since the update (ipad 3, graphics on low setting). I'm playing with people I've played with before the update, so I know we have good connections. Also, and this could be in my head, the aiming controls don't feel as tight as before...if that wasn't tweaked, then disregard. That being said, I want to reiterate that this game is the greatest, by FAR my favorite IOS game. Foursaken, thank you for listening to the feedback on this forum, I will keep buying games you make!
