I have just concluded that the berserker class is a complete piece of worthless crap with pretty much nothing good about it. In any other game I've played the berserker is characterized by fast attacks, fast running/walking speed, and very high damage output especially to single enemies. However in this game, the berserker has: - Very low health - Very slow attack speed (wtf?) - Extremely low run meter probably as a result of childhood polio (can only run 4-5 seconds before he tires out, despite the fact that he's mostly naked and NOT carrying much armor whatsoever) - a 5 yr old has more run endurance than him. This and the fact he has a melee weapon makes him completely useless against suicide bombers, ranged enemies like archers, necromancers, and most bosses - Average damage - my assassin of the same level does the same amount of damage as a berserker, except much slower attacks - Pretty much completely useless skills - a skill that increases damage when his health is low which is pointless because if his health is low he's gonna be dead within a few seconds, with the minimal amount of HP he has. Any boss kills him in about 2 hits. A skill that increases AOE percentage by like 5% when surrounded by enemies, uhh ok?... The only skill that I use is the one that increases attack/defense at the cost of 35% HP. Basically use that at the castle walls then immediately retreat to heal, otherwise he gets one-hit-KOed by pretty much any boss Stuck on level 28 with this guy, tried every single rune I have and every possible strategy dealing with the order of mines, walls, ballista and repairman, still can't beat it because the troll has ridiculous amount of HP, and ballista won't work because the troll destroys the ballista in pretty much 1-2 hits. Repairman is also kind of useless because there are about 100 archers firing at the wall at the same time, plus about 50 skeleton warriors, 10 skeleton captains that raise all enemies' HP/defense/attack. Giants are also useless because they are extremely slow, and can never deal with the 100 archers firing at it. Unless there's some unit that has an crazily HUGE AOE attack that kills like 10 archers at once I can't picture how to beat this level. No I don't have the tank because that's unlocked at the end of the game. Going back to my assassin who'll have a much easier time with this level.
You apparently forgot you can up his statistics aside from his skills.... Also, he hits in combos most of the time. And it's Barbarian.
If every aspect of every iOS game is perfect, why does this forum exist? Not even Blizzard makes 100% perfect, balanced games. Ever heard of something called gameplay imbalances? Though that's an expected reply from a fanboy who screeches at every hint of criticism towards the game. I'm playing the same level with two same level characters - assassin and berserker/barbarian/whatever it's called. It's a cakewalk with assassin, and impossible with barbarian. Both are melee characters focusing on single-person power output so don't tell me "I'm not playing the character right". Any other theories suggesting that the barbarian is not crap?
I have a lot of trouble with the barbarian too. He should have the most DPS with the risk:reward ratio, but he plays (IMO) like a really weak/fragile assassin.
I just think it sucks how your toon dies from 2-3 hits... and now the barb takes extra damage... it's just silly. Very frustrating class to play.
Actually, I think Barbarian can attack the fastest sustain-wise, not counting the stupid knock back move. Plus, he can hit a unit four times, something other classes can't do eith normal moves. This is what I posted earlier about Barbarian. I dunno, but the only active I like is his one where he deals more damage and takes more damage. I think for his Berzerk, it should be switched with some sort of attack move. Preferably some sort of movement attack, that helps stack his bloodlust. His first passive is nice, but it'd be cool if there was a way of sustaining his low health, aside from just taking less damage. I was thinking for his third active, he could gain health from what he kills, similar to the Predator skill from Bug Heroes. And sice it's an active, you can choose when to use it and when not to use it, for helping his passives. I really like his attack speed, and his only crappy attack is that knock back move. Other than that, that's it. Active 1 - I like Active 2 - Switch to Attack Move to Help Passive 2 Active 3 - Change less damage taken to healing when you kill stuff Passive 1 - I like Passive 2 - I like Passive 2 - I like except for knockback I just feel that Barbarian should not have kncokback. It's more of a detriment, compared to his four hit attack. # Oh and his single hit attacks are cool, it looks like he combos them together - I really like that. It makes him look fluid, instead of robotic. XD
AKA It pretty much sucks. Assassin without units - Decent Assassin with units - Pentakill GG Bye Bye see you in Heaven. Assassin Pro - plays with feet for lulz. Ranger Pro - Two-Shots Tree GG Barbarian with units - If I manage to make a big enough kite string, maybe I can farm enough gold to do all my wall repairs and get Repairmen. Please don't send running units.
Hmmm.... He might be underpowered, sure (he used to be way OPed so he very well could've been overnerfed), but some things you mentioned just aren't true. For ex his attack speed is the highest of any unit in the game - with 3-4 hit combos and no cooldown between attacks. His damage is the same as other damage classes such as knight, but it scales to be MUCH more with abilities and again, he has the highest attack speed per hit in the game. Also Assassin does 10 less damage with his normal attacks, so they are definitely not the same... FYI I played through both campaigns with him - same as with every hero, so it's definitely possible. Anyway, I'll look into the balance of barbarian and see if I think anything warrants some buffs or changes.
Doing level 16 of the new campaign when this new ememy fallen king appeared I can't harm this ememy so Great my only units were peons with a battle academy and frost wizards I went to take out a cat when I started geting attacked by this unit and darn this unit moves so fast and takes out a part of you life instead of a certain number so it sucks to be a hero with very high Heath. Lets just say it went downhill after that Do anyone have some suggest on how to beat that level cos it has wraiths too
I just beat Stage 30 (Hinton) with my Barbarian, and he was only level 14. So yeah, he is somewhat more unit-heavy than the Assassin is. As for him receiving stat changes, well, I don't really care how that will go.
The barbarian is actually kinda super easy to play and almost overpowered on most levels. Generally I don't even bother with other units, except for hunters. Just build steel wall, add repairment, let bad guys gather at the wall and take advantage of that insane AOE/damage per enemy passive. It's true that he's very fragile, but my barbarian has been leveling faster than any other toon I've played. Even on levels where I die (doesn't happen much), I'm likely to make a lot of progress on hitting a level up. It might help that on levels where there are a lot of anti-hero attackers, I use a 7 armor/2 hp rune.
I find the assassin totally overpowered, cruised nonstop through the first campaign and it was only lvl 28 I had to try a couple of times, cheated by putting up a few ballista towers. Otherwise, the backstab seems to stack along with your other stuff and as long as you keep zipping around you just murder stuff so crazy hard it isn't even funny. The counter-attack move (I only have one point in it) is stupid hard to time, but is easier to use against something as crazy as a Troll. Otherwise, all your 'moves' are get out of jail free cards, the moment you hit invisible everything turns their back to you, you can zip back out of the way of surprise threats, and basically dance on the midline always looking at their backs. The backstab is crazy unbalanced because it 'works' if you hit them at at almost any angle as long as you don't have their attention.
thus the balance of H&C.... Reading this and the discussion on the barbarian that Foursaken even chosen to enter, I think proves that this game is approachable in different ways to different people; different characters/play styles resonate with different gamers. I personally love the Barbarian far more than the Assassin. Both are about the same level currently for me. With the skills on the Barbarian almost maxed, for me, the dude just fits my play style. When he is near death and lopping off huge amounts of damage and double his original size and the screen is glowing red... I love it! I love dancing around in the middle of a huge pack of enemies, which is too his benefit. He can take down an Orc quicker than any of the other characters consistently... the assasin is deadly, too, but I have to wait for skills to recharge to take down more than one. I love the assassin's hero unit more than the Barbarian... and I love the Druid's MOST of all... well, the wolf pack and the treemen both are pretty cool. I am glad everyone is finding different characters too OP or too weak and it is different for everyone
update, killed lvl 30 first try. Ignore the Trolls and concentrate on killing anything that threatens your economy, I have put several points into run on my assassin and I am just all over the map very quickly. The 'new' ballista towers and archers rain down serious damage that makes them worth replacing on a steady basis, and otherwise I think I had one assassin unit out on the ground other than myself. It seems like you can just magically keep enemies off the wall with this guy, which means a hell of a lot more money to spend on towers, etc. Now that I am on endless, it feels like my character leveling will be a slow grind. I am lvl 29 now, and there is only one point into eveything other than pumped full assassinate and backstab. Escape seems like such a powerful skill on paper, but in reality if you die you screwed up, and there you sit in the middle of your keep all of a sudden waiting around for half your health to come back. Obviously revival tickets are uber powerful by definition, but... Just don't die and you don't need them. I am not sure if I want to waste any points on counter strike, other than Trolls or big mummies it seems like it is too hard to time and the stats don't impress me otherwise. At least the juke is an emergency move, helps you move around the map faster, and gives bonus damage - oh, and a lower cooldown as you go. I only have one point into shadow, obviously very, very powerful because you are literally not only invincible but they all turn their backs to you - I mean, come on. Even with the one point it seems like it is a cheat. Otherwise I have 60 damage and 6 armor, it feels like you could use a variety of runes to flesh out this otherwise flimsy character but I went through the whole campaign with a 20 crit / 20 damage. Usually I rock a cowardly +10 damage with a 2HP/sec, it has kept me alive through a lot of bad stuff and especially on a high level Mage it makes you pretty much super tank - too bad the Mage just stops scaling to any real damage and becomes utterly useless otherwise. Time to play with the Barb now, although he feels like a weird gambling sort of character - the mage used health as damage but that was more like an investment, while the Barb only does the big hurt if he himself is hovering near death. As for the Druid - too slow, way too much of a support unit by design for me and he really feels like the gimped brother of the Mage with a silly little stick.
Well the fact that I cruised through level 28 with assassin, yet failed about 10 times with barbarian, indicates that either: - Assassin is overpowered or - Barbarian is underpowered Both have same play style, and both are at the same level (around 18-20 if I remember correctly), so I don't see what I'm doing wrong with the barbarian. Yes I just noticed that the AoE passive stacks, and I have about 4 points poured into that, yet still cannot handle the MASSIVE amount of skeletons/archers that gather at the walls. Like I said the highest level wall (steel I think), with a repairman, breaks in like 5 seconds... I'm not sure if the level actually changes when I play as assassin, because I didn't have any difficulty with her at all. I didn't experience a massive buildup of enemies at the walls either... either she killed all the enemies too quickly or the level became easier when I used assassin? Right now I'm on campaign 2 (beach area) level 7 with assassin, very little difficulty getting through still. The only annoyance are those DAMN ARCHERS. They're so well hidden and ALWAYS aim for gold mines. It's such a pain in the ass to go around the entire level on foot with assassin to hunt all of them down before they destroy all my mines... Anyone got any tips dealing with these?
Assassin's Counter Strike skill... How does it work? I didn't spend any points yet because I don't know if you have to get hit and lose hit points for it to work.
