Universal Heroes and Castles - (by Foursaken Media)

    I really wish the archer charged his arrows. I finally bought him today and was really disappointed by the single press, fire set-up. Would it be possible for the Forsaken guys to implement a charged arrow attack? Similar to The Elder Scrolls or The Monster hunter series would be great, but without the line of flight indicator that MH has. It would be much appreciated!

    play with the archer more, he has massive damage potential and has no need for a charged attack, it would prolly break 2k damage if he did.

    Yeah you don't need that. My archer can kill trolls in 5-10 shots now and he's not even level 99 yet.

    Just played this game for the first time in a while. I think for whatever reason it's not as fun to play as it once was. I wouldn't say I'm fatigued on it (stopped for a while to travel, not from boredom), but I think the attempt to curtail times in endless and coop has resulted in a poorer experience for the player.

    Strategy now has little to do with units and is more or less to kill archers and horde gold (unless you're a dwarf with build rune, which gets boring after a while). While I understand the developers have their own vision, at some point you've got to keep it a fun experience. As a player who knows the difference between what was and what is, I think an opportunity is being missed here to turn this game into a long-term income generating franchise. And for the amount of fun the game gave me for a couple of months, I think that's a shame.

    Foresaken, good job getting this game to the world. Somewhere along the way though, you've taken a little of the fun out of it.

    Basically I do, and I don't agree :p I agree that the balance is messed up with higher level heroes (I've always said this - even talked about retroactively weakening heroes - got major backlash for that :p), and that the hero vs unit strategy is thrown out the window at that point... it has always been this way though.

    I don't agree that this is because of anything we've changed (the only thing we've done is remove the HOURS of grinding needed to get a new high score in co-op and endless - was that really fun for anyone?). Again, the lack of strategy needed with high level heroes has always been this way... its probably most likely that it only became obvious to you once you actually got your heroes to super high levels and played a bit... removed yourself from the game for a while, came back and saw it with a fresh perspective. The game was never meant to be a solo hack and slash brawler... unfortunately thats what it is once you're a high level hero.

    Like I've said before, I wish I could go back and re-tweak things... basically make it so a level 40-50 hero was when they maxed out (maybe kept it at 99 max, but halved the strength of each level up, for ex). Right now, at level 30-50, there is this perfect balance and an awesome synergy between ally units and your hero. You are strong, but not so strong that you don't need any support. Once you hit the upper levels, your hero is just so strong that - as you put it - all you need to do is run around and kill archers, catapults, etc, and horde gold :p You're exactly right, but its something that is impossible to change now. The only thing we can do is add new heroes to re-experience the game as it was originally intended to be experience (for the 1st 50 levels) :)

    All of that being said, tbh I just think that Heroes & Castles - like any game - has a finite lifespan, and you've just probably hit it by now. We're okay with that.

    That being said, hopefully the next update with new heroes, units, and new campaign can reinvigorate the game for some of our early adopters :)

    Completely agree about everything, except that finite lifespan.

    XD I think Street Fighter IV is gonna be one of those games, that will last pretty much forever.

    The amount of depth is just stupid. :D

    Argh. On a lark I loaded up my lvl 54 Ranger, and played a game of endless last night. I easily walked past any time I have ever made with my lvl 79 Mage, which made me realize that every second I have spent playing my Mage was a waste of time. He simply never scaled to put out damage accordingly, lvl 79 and you still have to stand there and hit a normal mummy like six or seven times to kill them. Meanwhile I can do 500 damage at distance with my Ranger.

    You can easily 2-3 shot a Mummy at even close range and usually 1-2 shot a mummy at farther range. Trolls, trolls take some 4-10 shots. Ranger is truly DPS. Mine is only 65 or 66? I think.

    I meant just in range. The longer you hold the button the further the arrows go (until a point). So if you just tap it a arrow flops out onto the ground, but you can judge how long to hold it for whatever distance the enemy is. And it wouldn't fire until you released the button. ( I also like looking down the field zoomed it so i can make certain enemies)
    I'd still would like this to be considered.
    I wasn't talking about a super charged arrow or anything :p

  12. As we wildly wait in anticipating...

    ...for the new update, are there other games out there that capture what H&C does on the PC? I jumped on this game because of Foursaken's NY Zombies 2, my favorite zombie gave ever (wish it had a few more endless modes, better MP, otherwise the campaign is a true example of a quality zombie storyline) and I would like to try other games similar to it as I have discovered it is maybe my favorite genre now (action-y TD?)

    I do feel Magic Carpet 1&2 a great deal when I am playing... anyone else?

    As it seems like the developers sometimes do visit this forum, I wanted to raise a bug that I've found.

    When I passed level 30 with the original three characters, I got a legendary Water Rune and equipped my Mage with it. Now while this rune nominally gives the user 4HP per second, mine actually gives significantly more (I have used it five times and had a range of numbers, e.g. 8, 14, 16).

    Even worse (or better) when you equip another rune, this bonus persists. So when I put on a damage rune instead, I find myself doing plus 35 damage AND with an HP bonus of 14 per second.

    Odd as it may seem to complain, this makes the game too easy. While i can get around this by equipping another rune and then restarting the app, it occurs to me that if other people are also experiencing this bug, it has the potential to screw the balance of both vs and coop multiplayer significantly by making those who have found this rune much more powerful than those who have not. It is basically a cheat.

    Anyway, if any developers see this post it would be much appreciated if u could address this eventually. Besides, I actually want to try the rune as it is meant to be used

    Yeah, the Mage usually only heals when you stay still, this is different. When I am running I get the rune bonus of 14HP per second only, whereas when I stay still I get two separate bonuses of 11 (ie max Mage healing) and 14 (from the rune), ie 25HP per second. The two bonuses are distinct and show up as separate green numbers.

  19. I really want this guy/girl to be successful, as they seem very persistent and persistence, if directed towards the right endeavor, can truly be beneficial! I see the ads that are on his/her multiple forums so it is a financial pursuit... keep up the good work, but find another way to go about it!!!

    I love having Heroes & Castles discussion all on one forum that is EASILY searchable... (the search button, JackAttack/LasVegas/Apptastic/etc., is just up there on one of the blue bars betwixt New Posts & Quick Links... I can post a video demonstration on how to use it if you would like!) I love clicking on people's insightful comments and seeing what other games they play because if they are just as passionate about Foursaken games as I, then they might have similar game tastes and I might discover another timewaster :) TA is the best hub I have found for info on my favorite game(s) and connects iOS gaming across the board.

    Also, the "well has dried" lately on Heroes & Castles for discussion.. I still play it every day or at least every other day and still consider it in my favorite games of ALL TIME of 25 years of gaming, but its at a pause right now until the newer update(s) come and we start hashing out new strategies..... so why would we need a whole forum to sit dormant until that happens?

    I feel for this individual, that's why I hope this comes across as a positive post... I hope they find the right cause to dive in to!

    Well the update they are bringing is pretty big. 3 new characters, new units and a new campaign IIRC. I think it'll be well worth the wait :D
