I only have one more question. What's your next title FM? I can't wait for it even though I have no idea what it is.
Just played this guy ridikuluz and his evil almost beat me. He played a rush down mummy. It game down to the last hit. He was bashing my keep and I was bashing his back. I won by a split second. Epic fight!
We're working hard to get the huge update out... I think a realistic ETA is probably about 2-3 weeks... most of that time will actually be spent balancing the new heroes and the new campaign. Mind you, the 2nd campaign will actually be more of a continuation of the first... in other words, it will be unlocked only after a certain stage is beaten in the 1st, and it will be harder than the first (to compensate for higher level heroes). Looks like the final tally will be: 3 new heroes (each with special unit), 4 new allies, 9 new enemies, and of course the new campaign environment. There may be some other surprises in there as well Speaking of which, now that people have given Versus more of a shot, how are people digging the new balance? Oh, and I'm thinking we're going to release a free version soon as well, for anyone still on the fence. I'm wondering what you guys think about fairness if we were to basically give away the full game for free, except you only get one of the first 3 heroes (your choice). So, price wise it would basically end up being the same if you were to unlock the starting 3 heroes. The last thing we want to do is release an unfair free version
Loving the balance, mummy king is definitely the evil hero to play, possibly trumping any others. I just can't see a point in picking the goblin when he has like 1/10th the HP, and his goblin horde has been severely nerfed. I know mummy has his negatives, but they're definitely made up for with his awesome passive abilities, compared to the very lackluster abilities of most others, (1 damage tick for goblin?) seems outdated.
I couldn't care less what you do with a free version. This game has been worth every cent and I couldn't possibly feel slighted if you came out with a lite. Anything to increase the player base, I suppose. Nice of you to ask, though
I say if you guys think you can get more exposure and make more money then do it. You guys deserve it.
Sounds like an eminently fair deal (for us, but even more so for those who get to play this great game for free ). I might be predisposed to forgiveness, though, so if primary reactions are negative, perhaps you could lock either/all of siege, co-op or versus play behind a paywall (and potentially make more money in the process).
There actually is quite an imbal matchup with mummy atm Goblin Horde is still very powerful... 30 damage per goblin, on such a cheap platform is very powerful! The only thing nerfed was its more expensive, and greenskins don't get quite as much health per goblin. His web ability is also great, especially against upper level heroes with tons of armor (knight and veteran, for ex). Venom is an okay ability, but is especially effective against a paladin trying to mass ground units.... it also does add up to quite a bit of extra damage.... and of course he is the fastest and has the most run I do agree that mummy is more straight forward and easiest to play now.
You know, we thought about something like that... but a big reason we want to introduce the free version is to keep the multiplayer player base for the PAID users nice and big, active and fresh. If nothing more, this should be a nice way to just help build the H&C community.
Will the new campaign have its own name? if it does we should name the first one as well, it references it as hinton castle so i guess that could be the name for it. Oh and i do so hope the new area is snowy, i would love to see my white ranger in a mostly white enviroment On another note how will the co-op/versus work for the new area? will we vote after we are paired or will we have a co-op/versus selection for hinton castle and a co-op/versus for the new zone and we choose which one we want to play then we search? also will we get any new buildings? i would imagine there would be at least one new one as a support building for some of the new units.
I had orcs critting walls for 300-400 with all drummers up and I'm pretty sure gobs hitting for 50+ with 20/20 in the old version. Now I'm pretty sure orcs were only hitting for 100+. Was that not intentional? Also do orcs contribute to the goblin horde buff, or just base goblins. How about other goblins? Like snipers etc. also what's the formula for goblin horde? A base upgrade or %? Also what does the skeleton wraith ability that raises damage and health? Is it a static amount for every hit? Is there a radius? Does it apply when a wall is struck?
That will attract many more players. But you guys shouldn't give away too much content in the free version. This game is really good.
The damage is exactly the same as before... its +4% damage, +1% health per goblin. Each drummer does what, +20% damage and health? So all in all with 15 goblins and 3 drummers you're buffing around 200% damage (remember, each buff is compounded with the last buff, so its bigger than just the net sum of all the buffs). Its a pretty nasty buff on a 15 gold unit, or on an orc that is now much cheaper than the last iteration The bonus does count for any goblin, and don't forget it buffs damage on things like snipers and goblin kamikazis as well. With the new, more defined goblin path, its definitely a real option. As for Death Blade, it buffs surrounding units in a radius by +7% damage and health per hit, up to a max of 50-75% I think (can't remember which)? The bonus is depleted by 2% every second, so you have to somewhat stay in combat to maximize the ability (it does not work when hitting walls, if I remember correctly). Stack that with Skeleton Master, a few standard bearers, and a Skeleton Captain (DOUBLE damage to skeletons), and you've got some really powerful enemies (skeleton big swords doing like 100+ damage per hit)!
Thanks for the clarifications! I do recall in siege mode goblin horde making Orc damage go through the roof, something like 4,5,600 crits on walls and stuff, but you'd only see it with all buffs being applied at once. I seem to recall I've done the same thing in siege 2.1 and its not nearly as much. Maybe if you could check back in the old version, see if something changed? Do orcs do bonus damage to walls? That could be it. Also, it's still very possible to minimize out of VS games and not lose RP. Hint, completely remove the door closing graphic and go straight to the RP loss screen and it should minimize most from evading RP loss.
From what I played the balance seemed better, but I haven't played much because of all the coop issues- I figured versus would have those too. With coop you just quit, but if your units start sinking into the ground with versus you lose rep etc. Basically waiting for the hotfix.
