I love this game with a passion. Can I get a HELL YEAH??! I have te best tactic for siege mode that lets me win every time
I have enjoyed the Ranger most I think; tho I last longer in endless with the Engineer, lol. I second the advice about range - as you max out that ability for increased damage at distance, hitting the big guys from far away helps a LOT. Fire arrow along your castle walk is pretty sweet too - now I really understand what "enfilading fire" is. A couple more ideas: I have found the trap to be extremely useful - you have to get into the habit if using it as soon as cool down is over. As the fighting intensifies it is available to you surprisingly quickly and you can lay a LOT of them in key places - or even randomly if you don't have a specific plan. I can't tell you how many times I was saved by a trap I forgot was there when I turn around and see a troll or Orc standing right behind me, ready to behead me, but instead stuck on a bunch of spikes, hehe. Also the traps + brambles are great for a Ranger-specific kind if kiting. Get a fast/big baddie to chase you, hit them with arrows until bramble slows them, then as you back up plant a trap. The brambles will slow the fast ones long enough for the trap to arm as the chase you. Another use of the brambles is when you need to take care of six things at once. Say you are in the middle of a duel with an or. Chief and two running mummies suddenly pop-up and are running for you, and far behind them a cat appears - you can't afford to stop and deal with them all at once, so hit the Orc boss with brambles (and a trap if you can), then hit the mummies, then scoot clear and get the cat. By the time the mummies and/or chieftain are close enough to threaten you again, you've knocked out the cat and can repeat. Last thing for ranger is something I didn't plan, but has been a huge improvement in my play - as I got better at shooting accurately, I was able to keep moving almost constantly. If you can move and shoot, or sprint, fire, spin and sprint again super quick, you can stay MUCH more active and out on the battlefield longer. I noticed in my last few games that I literally never stopped moving with the Ranger and was surprised. But it made all the difference because you are FRAGILE! I made the mistake early on of keeping him out too long and key him take too many hits - played him like faster, weaker engineer. Not good. Let's see, this is too long, I am afraid, but last thing - you can get Crit up very high for the ranger. My level 53 ranger has a 65% natural Crit and I often give him a +35 Crit rune so every shot is Crit. That's when I just want to lay waste and don't care about time . Very very fun . HTH!
You can scroll to the bottom cuz of a TL;DR The Ranger is absolutely amazing. I love it. You just need to master the shots. Once you have that down, Ranger becomes hands down epic. You should aim for a damage rune or something because a Ranger does not need a crit stone as its Critical is high enough at end-game. Fire Arrow and Hunting Trap are absolutely deadly if used correctly. There are many different ways for you to go about using fire arrow and hunter trap. You could lead 2-3 trolls, 2-3 Chieftans and wraith to follow you, and if you've set up traps before hand, you can lead them into the traps and you are given more time to clean off troops at the wall with fire arrow. Or you could say when some 40 or so units are beating at the wall, you take one step out of the castles and set up your trap, since the enemies are coming, when they trip off a trap, 10 guy are stunned which then you can use fire arrow to clear maybe all of them at the wall. The active abilities are great. All of them except Elven Archers >_> it sucks. So bad, don't put any points in there whatsoever. The passives you get are great. Spread shot is very good if it's triggered alongside with fire arrows. The passive allow you to triple kill. It's only 35% chance at max level, but it's worth it considering if you aline the shots correctly, you could be killing 3 of almost anything. Although the first thing you should put points in should be bramble. Paired with Marksman you can kill a troll in 5-10 Crits(well for me anyways). It's like a trap every time you shoot. Anything that gets hit is slowed, and for a good while too. Marksman is very, very, very GOOD for killing trolls, Cats and anything far away from the ranger. +250% Damage the further away you are so if it goes along with a critical, you'll see high damage around 400-600 at later levels. Overall, the Ranger takes time to master, and once you have mastered it, you learn to develop the techniques needed to kite, kill and be on the move. You need to remember that you're armorless and have barely any health >_> TL;DR -Practice with Ranger to get long range shots and pwn -Max skills Bramble, Marksman, Spread shot, hunter trap and fire arrow. -never ever invest in Elven archers. -Do not use Crit runes as ranger has high crit already -watch out for HP as you have like 0 -Rangers have epic crits -you have no armor as well >_> -Always be on the move. Level 50 Ranger- favourite class :3 HP:302 DMG:142 Armor:10 Crit:74%
Definitely would get rid of that crit rune, since ranger crit got nerfed when your middle shot could only crit for spread shot. Overall 65% is enough and more damage would help overall.
If you time your shots right, along with high Crits and marksman, any of those beefy units die in 10 or less shots :3 Saying Sambobsung out loud sounds weird .-.
Nope, got nerfed last patch for PVP reasons I believe, honestly I feel like it was balanced in PvE, and should only be nerfed in PVP.
There's a quote from Foursaken stating he meant for ranger to be a single target dps hero, so that was another reason for the nerf.
Wish they would increase the archer/arrow tower accuracy just a tad, if you don't slow down or stun an enemy, they miss about 75% of the time! ha
K, I know its been a bit of a delay, but we finally got done testing the update... have been having some great back and forth matches in PvP, and we've fixed as many of the issues that have come up as we could. Before anyone cries about PvP balance based on just the log, please make sure to hold off until you actually play it We have the fortune of having a few very high level players duking it out back and forth - and from what we tested, the better player consistently wins with either Evil OR Good. As for the new hero - his highest level skin makes him look like Iron Man He's probably my personal favorite, and is a very interesting hero to use! Anyway, on to the change log! Update v2.1 New Hero: Clockwork Veteran! Play as a durable, mechanically repaired veteran soldier, with powerful, delayed charge up bonuses and attacks Greatly improved multiplayer connectivity and stability Various bug and crash fixes Important Evil changes in Versus and Siege modes: Cultists, Goblin Drummers, and Standard Bearers are now immune to ALL damage while the Wormwood Tree is alive - they become vulnerable only once the Tree is killed! Evil heroes now get stunned and lose their current bar of run when the Wormwood Tree is killed! Can now choose any Evil hero class to start Versus mode with All Evil heroes now do more damage to Good heroes (their damage vs units is the same) Various changes and tweaks to Evil units Fixed several exploits, including waiting for a while and not killing enemies in co-op, and units doing massive damage (1000+ damage) in certain scenarios AI heroes in Siege mode will now damage Wraiths appropriately Slightly lowered the amount of bonus money Evil gets when fighting higher level heroes (level 30+) Fixed an exploit that allowed players to force quit before losing, making it so they wouldn’t lose RP; WARNING: minimizing Heroes and Castles during a versus match will now force quit the match and count as a loss! Disabled the back button after teams in Versus are chosen, discouraging players from continuously leaving until they get their desired side
I agree on the accuracy. Also, bar the first few levels of the campaign, archers and towers are useless, unfortunately. Even coupled with Elven Arrows ability of the ranger, they only marginally improve -- get killed way too easily, and the cool down period is long. Hopefully the ranger class will receive another set of units that draws support from Elven arrows. Edit: Excited about playing as Iron Man!
Can players just back out and close the game during hero pick? Honestly it should count as a loss even then. How do high level ranger matches feel? I've still almost been oneshotted by lvl 70+ rangers, and their massive run makes them almost uncatchable.
Evil heroes now get stunned and lose their current bar of run when the Wormwood Tree is killed! How would this help balance things? Also, does crashing or things like that make you lose RP?
