Ranger doesn't really seem to be my play style... I'm trying to replay the game as Ranger now, he's the only Hero I haven't beat the whole game with yet, but I can't seem to grasp how to properly use him. Any tips?
I just finished the campaign with him. I didn't build a ground unit the entire time. I used a lot of archers/archer towers on all the levels that don't call for ballistae (19,20,30) just for fun, to see if they work. If you're not building units, they're relatively cheap and pretty efficient towards the end of the level. Not really a strategy, but they're helpful. I think the main thing I did with the ranger was extend has range at every possible opportunity. If trolls were coming to my walls, I would shoot them from afar and if I didn't kill them by the time the got there, I would run to the other end and shoot them from their side, to maximize damage. Walls get pretty crowded if you're distracted dealing with the tougher units, so bust out some fire arrows, clean them up and repeat.
My Ranger is level 48. Has 138 Attack, 10 armor, 72% Critical and 276 HP. Uses a 35+ damage and +7 armor rune.
The big killer is disconnections, lol. Seriously though, when enemy damage exceeds the walls ability to stay standing during the cool down period - that's gotten me occasionally. Or the single shot from a cat that destroys half of the keep's hp. Trolls by themselves aren't bad, actually. I'd rather deal with them than necromancers, snipers and cats.
I've seen this sort of thing a few times since the new patch Brings a new defenition to face hugging, LOL!
I took out 3 waves of those trolls and then yeah. The only reason I lost was because I died >_> and my economy just went kaput. 25 minutes in endless. Slowly but surely :3 beat my 21 minutes earlier today I did a last ditch attempt to clear that wave by summoning a crap ton of treemen and it worked then I got screwed :L
all my heroes are lvl 20-35 and have 10-15 armor thanks for any advice. By the way, how much hp does a skeleton or wraith have? Seems skeleton is atleast 101 hp, and wraith 180?
K, fixed that massive damage bug... I wonder if people will figure out what how to REALLY get that damage The 1000 damage per hit is a legit bug, easily reproducible >_< New leaderboards coming next update to reflect that... sorry, but we have to reset them when we fix up major exploits like this one, and another one found by someone else (rugged I think). I think versus will get new boards too, with all the major changes to Evil.
Yay leaderboard reset, like that Has the mobs getting stuck in walls bug been spotted yet? Knight depends on setup and playstyle, for kiting strategies go armour or for classic hack and slash go attack. Paladin doesn't need armour so much with the eal and shield to go invul and using cheap units to body block while doing cone mace attacks. Engineer is ranged, so just sidestep and go with attack Ranger, even more so for attack than engineer... Unless ur kiting with him too but better off kiting with the class that was actually designed for it with the taunt not this one. It was designeded as a high risk high reward class so it's best to go with it and get those back field units smacked down in seconds from far range. Mage depends its a mixed bag of tricks and has many viable options, both would work on it with the right movements. Mob hp scales the longer you survive but if you get up to and beyond 120 damage wraiths aren't even worth a second glance and go down fast until later on which if you survive long enough to see then you probably have enough skill to go in beat them up, step back to avoid the hit and go back in again for the finish. By which time the catapults are more important to target first.
FourS4ken Media, is there somewhere where we can read official and upcoming patch notes? I would also love to see some pictures of the upcoming hero/heroes just for the TouchArcade crowd. Touch Arcade has acknowledged officially that Heroes and Castles game is the most active game on their forums! How about some /drool candy for the faithful ?
yeah that's the worst, when you get booted with full health, full units/keep/walls, and plenty of money.
The V1 leaderboards are still there. The way things are going this game may have more leader boards than any other on GC What about Siege? I don't know if anyone can win legitimately in under 2 mins, let alone 1.
Well, was playing a great game with a level 51 Paladin. As laggy as it was, we did very, very well. I think maybe 20-30 minutes in, the game friggin' crashed D: we had held our defences pretty well. We had Captains, blunderbusses, ballistas and Wall units. A hybrid strategy that worked very well. But the game crashed >_>
