This is definitely one of my favourite games. I would like this game to still have a challenge even when you have the best weapons and abilities. Maybe a Hard difficulty as well for people who really want a challenge. The people who have low level characters and equipment wouldn't even have to consider it.
That could be interesting, I have 3 99 chars and 3 more ~50 with full legendary kit (and some good stuff at that) and this game will still deal me some losses. I also really enjoy the skirmish missions where the hero and his army have no base to defend, maybe FM could give us an endless variant of a skirmish map (and/or other mission types where endless makes sense) It would also be cool to see more castle upgrade/customization options. Maybe a couple more turrets to choose from (or turrets as a new find/craft equippable!), and buildings to build/upgrade (slot limited so you can't have it all) to provide permanent unit buffs or research bonuses a bit like h&c1 did in-battle
Has anybody done comparative testing of power attacks? I ask because it seems like different weapon types sometimes behave a little differently as though there's some unpublished "extras" applied under the hood for each (knockback, +ap, stun)
Good point--I wish someone had! Aside from "knockback, +ap, stun" there's also bash (defeat block), and piercing (continue a shot through targets)... but none of them do auto wide angle attack, iirc, unlike HC1. Additionally heavy attacks ("power" as you put it) are constrained differently by weapon type: stamina draw, mana draw, or timer limited)... also their animations tend to have a lot of cycles, making their effective rate of fire slower. I've been too lazy to make notes and test any of this. For example, testing would reveal if a heavy attack resets the "combo" counter for normal attacks (or has some other interaction). For double swords I've observed longer melee reach on the final attack of the "combo" so another worthwhile question is whether heavy attacks can affect melee reach. The tradition in the industry is to not bother with transparency in combat mechanics, because only hardcore players care, and many of them enjoy discovering it for themselves, but disclosing the details exposes the developer to faster exploit abuse and louder "nerf" complaints when the developer makes adjustments. At end of life for Diablo 2, when the developer was making it mod-friendly and thus disclosing more than ever before, a huge number of bugs were documented by the community and then (mostly) fixed by the devs. Jarulf put enormous time and effort into writing up research about Diablo 1 & 2 mechanics, but then he was a scientist IRL. Somebody tell me when you can get college credit or government grant money for work like that, and maybe I'll go back into research and write-ups myself
Hey guys, we'll be submitting the next update shortly... - Added easy mode that can be toggled on/off anytime. Chances to find items/good items are reduced while easy mode is enabled. - Enhanced physically based shaders, so the game should look a good bit better! - Units can now be upgraded to Level 6 - You can now have up to 10 different heroes instead of 9 - Added new hero scribe reward: Complete all 50 waves with the hero - Fixed a major balance issue dealing with enemy spawns in side lands - Goblin Blunderbusses no longer shoot through intact walls - Bark Armor has reduced performance hit while on the low effects setting - Sync error fix - Bug fixes
Yay! When you say that units can now be upgraded to lvl 6 does that mean that their appearance will also change once they get to lvl 6?
Good question! I was wondering how many crystals I'll need to stock up on now to do all the upgrades!
help me decide... i want to make another melee Beserker or Grandmaster? I already have a 35 level knight
No, but speaking of bugs, I have had the bug where I've been hit by something with knockback (like the big mummy kings, whatever their actual name is) and thrown back INTO either rock or my castle wall, and I can't move at all and I'm stuck until I die or I win. It's happened maybe 2 or 3 times out of all my game plays.
I would go for a grandmaster with 2 swords since he has a fast attack speed and his time slow down skill is effective for killing multiple enemies unscathed.
So, the update may have not been posted exactly when they shared its contents, there's that. Also, Apple has a vendetta with Foursaken Media updates; I remember the first one post launch took like 21 days or something redonkulous. In the meantime, ought to download Bioshock and give it a whirl That goblin blunderbuss thing is pretty funny... I can't believe how strong those guns are to shoot through walls! FOURSAKEN, where you guys at, bros?! Where's some info on the new games?!?!
It's times like this were I wish I could strangle the App Store. But anyway patience is not only about how long you can wait but also your attitude while waiting.
Update seems fine on iOS I played for long enough to get my Crystals back up to 300 after claiming 3x 100 reward (I have all three races at 50 levels completed, as do probably most of you, eh?) because adding that sixth level to all units is quite bank breaking. Worth mentioning: level 6 for Torch Bearers makes them free!... hard not to want to just always build 3 of them at each battle start now Some of the units got anti-diminished returns (non-linear effective bonus? you pick your preferred phrasing!) at level 6 due to how very high their armor rating was bumped. Dreadnaughts, Red Guard, and Treeman are all 95 armor currently, for example. I made a new dwarf and took him to level 20 (unlocks his access to forge master unit) without using any skills (no use of skill points) which involved beating the memory of every wave through 26... everything seemed good. I did notice one case where my Fell Crystal was once reported attacked with walls always intact, which I believe was from an enemy catapult not taken out fast enough. I haven't used easy mode yet, but I am likely to soon, since my current goal is to take that has-no-skill dwarf through all 50 wave memories. Great game! edit: yes, I also have both a no-skills-ever level 20 elf and a human... but my first attempt at all 50 waves sans skills seems likely to be easier with Forge Master available (for the huge damage boost to my troops, who are doing almost all of the work)
Excellent - let us know if you find any issues in this update. Also, no guarantees (i never want to guarantee anything until its fully implemented and ready to go), but we're thinking about adding a game+ mode after you've completed all 50 stages + enemy castle... There are LOTS of different ways we could handle this, so I'd like to see anyone's thoughts, suggestions, opinions on how they'd like to see a game+ mode handled.
