This is absolutely the best repeater you can get in terms of pure damage. And the best blunderbuss too, since those have identical stats.

The 25% crit version goes up to 13 damage though with a "supercharged roll".

You lose out on AP though, and the +% ap skill doesn't apply to perks.

I'm not sure if it's true anymore, at least not these examples. I've rolled the same rifles in the new version. They're simply the rarer "supercharged roll". They seem to affect weapons differently.

For example, the "best" base one hand axe you can get is probably a 11 damage 40% crit. But for super rolls, I've seen 11 dmg 48% crit and 11 dmg 40% crit 8% aspd, both are straightforward upgrades with 0 tradeoff.

This doesn't seem to be true anymore either. +25 damage mods seem to strictly do more damage than +20 damage mods in all circumstances. The stat screen is a lot more accurate now, and +whatever damage mods are reflected directly on the stat screen in addition to the perk area.

And heyyooo gun ranges have been buffed :)

Today I crafted a repeater with 10 damage and 35% crit. I wonder if the supercharge went into crit, for my old version repeaters never got better than 10 dmg / 25% crit. 10% difference is pretty huge.

Wait, what? Holy crap. That seems a bit OP if you can get your hands on a double damage legendary rune.

The bug was actually that the perk was mislabeled before, so technically it was always +sword damage, it was just displayed as +axe damage. It is what it says it is now :p

What server are you playing? I just played 4-5 matches in a row level 50-80 last night. Remember, you can switch servers if you need to.

Not true. And those weapons seem right... you're sacrificing damage in the top 2 for extra crit. All those weapons are about balanced, it just boils down to preference.

You'd be wasting your time :p Weapon stats are calculated based on the current versions formulas. There are no "hard coded" stats - its all formula based.

10% seems to be above the norm. From what I'm seeing, 8 seem to be the magic number for a lot of things. 3 seem to be the number for repeaters. I've seen 30 damage repeaters and 33 damage repeaters, 10/50 ap and 13/50 ap, 10/25 crit and 13/25 crit. A straight 10% crit boost seems to be odd.

That said, I think 10/35 is better than 3/38, so lucky you!

EDIT: On second thought, it's probably the crit boost. My bow is crit boosted and it's 99/15ap/10% crit, where regular bows are 99/15ap.

This also means it might be possible to roll a 3/48% crit repeater, as I'm fairly certain 3/38 seem to be base rolls.

You mean a +melee +sword damage? I've tried to roll two +25s without any luck. Must've been thousands of legendary runes by now. I've gotten +melee and +range, which isn't useful. Getting complementary +25 range +25 gun or something seem possible, but settling for the "inferior" +45 total damage perk isn't that far off anyway. OP? Doesn't seem so.

I tried all 3 servers with both my level 1 hero and the 99 heroes. Maybe I'm just at a weird level, though I would think that most people who try are in the 1-15 section.

Perhaps it was just a weird time though.

PS: can we connect cross-platform (with android players)?

EDIT: again, can't get an opponent at level 1-15 and 80+. What's the most active level range? I'd be willing to make a new hero and level him up if it means getting a pvp match.

Ah, too bad. It doesn't conmfort me that a good weapon that I have now, might turn out to be rubbish in the next update though.

I believe rolls still work similar to the ping pong analogy from way back, with the rare "supercharged" ball. I think what I saw before was just the supercharged effect compounded with stamina being weighed incorrectly. Now that legendaries are easier to get than ever, we're seeing more and more "super" legendaries.

I've only ever kept one shield - 55 armor, .5s block, +20 damage.

This use to be a +103 armor shield in the first patch... instant immunity for everybody! But I don't use shields on any of my characters anymore.

With double damage I meant a rune that gives any two damage buffs.

I don't think two of the same buffs are possible on runes, are they? I crafted a few thousand and didn't encounter any.

I think it would be very OP and very disruptive to the opposite hero.

I tend to favor high crit mods on weapons for the reason of customizing my other 3 perks the way I like (they also tend to work out to the highest DPS mathematically). If I'm going for a DPSing hero [as opposed to support], I tend to have vampirism, AP, and damage for my 3. There are plenty of exceptions of course. On humans, I free up vampirism for a second damage slot usually, since no life steal is needed with heal. I go for pure +dmg on a sword striker. A GM elf can get away with no AP mods, so 2 +dmg and a vampirism tends to workout for me. Bow and rifle weapons seem to favor damage heavily over crit, so the best weapons are high damage weapons. That means you make up for crit in perks.

All in all, I'd say only a sword striker will benefit heavily from a double damage roll. You can run raw dps numbers rather easily using dmg*(%crit*3+%nocrit)*(1+aspd). Obviously change the 3 to 4.25 if you're an elf with crit skill. Remember 1 hand weapons also have a 1.25x attack speed multiplier over 2 handers when dual wielding.

[bold emphasis above is mine] Delightfully enough, this isn't true!

One of my consolations in losing all my iPad iCloud gear a week or so ago (my naive reset in the "local" menu did a silent iCloud overwrite) was that (switching to then play) my iPhone toy characters had a legendary +25 ranged +25 melee rune. You see I'd sold one of those back to the shop during iOS v1.0.1 because I, like you, couldn't imagine a scenario where they were useful... So I'd considered it very ironic when I got one in my toy/test setup, *after* learning how valuable those runes actually are, but before being forced to use those weenie characters as my main.

If your build does melee attacks then the +25 melee is obviously good. What is not obvious is that some AoE skills, some of which proc consequent to "melee", gain additional damage from racial and ranged bonuses (but not +melee, obviously, or even from straight +damage mods).

At this point I'll take a mournful moment to note I've not yet re-rolled my lost 0STA +35% speed (25% Crit only) Scythe, which was mind blowing on my Elf for this reason (18 points into Ranger just for the Crit damage%+ kills, but then the kill proc AoE weenie death chains could be eye blinking spectacular) at +25 melee, +25 ranged, and, eg, +undead on both shield and armor (vs an undead Wave).

P.S. I have seen +Bow damage on a *Shield*, which I discarded as truly useless, but who knows, even there it might have been like the +Axe display description bug, eh? Diablo 1 was infamous for oddities like this, some of which were really quite useful or fun. In that sense my professional opinion is that slip-ups in games are really part of their charm. Certainly the Light Bearers in this game being bugged v1.0.2 with Captains & so becoming touch-of-death uber machines was hysterical to watch! I must have gone days seeing that bug in my peripheral vision without registering it until I saw one LB take down an enemy castle all by himself and I went: W.T.F.?!!

    Direwolves

The druid character in H&C1 was able to purchase A pack of Direwolves for gold. Not only were beasts a great part of my strategy but they looked great and were completey original compared to other units in the game. Forsaken should add a unit like this, but give them a pack damage boost.

For example if you bought one direwolf than he could deal something like 50 damage (this is with it's average health and no armor) as you purchase more wolves their damage gets multiplied. It would add a whole new element to the game.

+Ranged Damage is actually quite good.

It increases Spell Damage and Ranged proc effects like Magi Blood. Couldnt tell if God Rays benefit from this bonus damage coz of the non-stop procs i was getting with God Rays and Magi Blood, but i think it did. I've since re-specced and removed most of the Paladin tree coz spending 35 skill points (on a gunmage) to unlock God Rays isnt that beneficial to the build and could be more useful elsewhere.

I have two +25 Ranged Damage modifiers on armor and rune, and the supposedly 30 damage Magi Blood proc becomes an 80 damage AOE, and Ice Shards which is listed as 200 AOE damage becomes 250 AOE damage.

Damage per hit... Not damage per second (dps). ;)

No. DPS is a general reference to damage over unit of time. Attack speed is factored in. It's much closer to damage per "time" than damage per attack.

We're not having this stupid convo again.

As for your other point, +melee +range is a pointless rune. How does your hero benefit from the +melee portion?

As for shields with +bow damage, can't you dual wield short bow + shield? Or do they both go in the off hand? Shortbows are rather pointless in practice, despite how cool it is in theory to hot swap melee/range weapons.

I didnt realize the raised "is pointless" is about that dual mod rune.

It's basically a +25 Damage Rune that can affect fixed value skill damage. +Damage doesnt. Better than a +20 Damage rune in some cases, but having another perk in addition to +20 Damage outclasses the +m+r rune.

I get what you mean, but this isnt a stupid convo unless you really think it is in which case it's just on your side.

DPS is now being loosely used that it's evolved to mean something else that just related. Kinda like how "roguelike" is being thrown around nowadays.

I feel it's different here in a way that you have presented a formula as opposed to having none. Apologies but it's a peeve of mine when a formula is presented that doesnt coincide with its label. Since you have been as intricately specific as having a formula (that doesnt have time involved in the actual formula), it would be more correct to use Damage Per Hit/Attack rather than Damage Per Second. Damage Per Second implies that the value has to be equated into a specific time frame, which is one second.

There is a difference between a 100 damage attack that animates in 5 seconds (20 DPS attack) and a 20 damage attack that animates in 1 second (same DPS), and your formula may be correct, but doesnt involve a timeframe.

  19. Gunmage is a blast... This new repeater rifle tears up with the crit. Plus an armor right now with bonus AP and ranged damage, plus magic, plus speed..., gunmage for the win!!!,

Is there any other odd or intriguing builds anyone has done?

    Nice... :)

I've been thinking about a Dual-wield crit/aspd build druid. +1 damage per mana spent in Damage Channel maximized by aspd and crits. Problem is getting mana back fast to recast Damage Channel consistently. Maybe GM's Mana Channel can help based on how fast you can kill in Damage Channel's duration, but it's crap against few big baddies.

In the end it may just be another GM build branching off to get Damage Channel. :p
