    Bug report; v1.0.3 iOS; may deadlock new struggling players

    Sorry, I forgot to mention that when v1.0.3 came out I started a new iOS device fresh and so ran into a horrible bug that will affect some new players and perhaps make them abandon the game...

    If you use mercs to win wave 1, the game logic still halts everything to force you to craft a new weapon; the problem is, you have 2 crystals, not the required 3. And there's no way to get a 3rd crystal, without buying IAP (conquering an outpost is not an option, as the force-craft logic won't allow you to Map; selling an item is not an option, as you've not acquired any yet).

    The code assertion guard is simple, when you enter the shop under condition of: one-time force to craft a weapon
    ...there can be no failure mode for the required user action (eg bumping the Crystal count from 2 to 3 before Shop UI comes up would be relatively benign)

    As a serious side note: in testing my recollection of this bug, I did a reset, intending to do a restore from iCloud afterwards... however, despite autosave to iCloud always being "off" your code logic effectively does a silent autosave and wiped my iCloud data (overwriting it with newbie fresh state)... if this horrible consequence is "as intended" there should at least be a warning dialog that, though being in the non-iCloud UI "Other" menu, "reset data" will have the side effect of wiping the iCloud data. Perhaps a dialog: "do you also want to delete your iCloud saved data?"

    Re: Paladins, before you guys said anything I already buffed him :p Will also be affected by "the Elite" research as well, good idea there.

    Its not really dwarfs, its just the one advanced weaponry skill which allows riflemen to long bomb it and hit walls and bannermen. Easy enough fix.

    But still, I'm not sure how you're not able to simply slaughter his bannermen as soon as he builds new ones...

    I can't wait until we can get Kamcord in so people can record and I can watch matches ;) Could be fun to have tournaments this way as well (with video proof of victors).

    PvP is getting pretty closed to balanced imo... there are some hero builds here and there that pose some problems, but its just a matter of fixing them as they arise. With thousands of different hero builds, this is inevitable, but not unfixable. New net code will make things quite a bit more playable in general as well. Connor and I had a blast playing PvP, some games lasting 10+ minutes!

    Its as PvP oriented as any other game - we wouldn't have the mode if it wasn't full fledged. All balance changes are made with single and multiplayer in mind.

    While true that the multiplayer base is small, we put as much time into PvP as other modes. As I mentioned, its going to take longer than a few weeks to get as close to perfect balance as we can with a game this complex. There are layers and layers of depth that add up - its what makes it harder to balance, but also what makes games potentially more interesting.

    But when it comes to multiplayer, people have a tendency to theorycraft really quickly after one loss... when doing internal testing, we have the luxury of matching instantly and testing against seemingly OPed strategies again and again until we figure out a way to beat it. Its dangerous to have a first instinct of: "I lost so this is OPed" or else everything in the game will be nerfed to oblivion. I'm not saying there aren't balance issues, but keep in mind that player skill is another layer that we have to consider when balancing.

    Having in mind multiplayer doesn't mean that the game is fully PvP oriented. It can be a good addition. In fact, MP was almost unplayable at the game release. After first patch, coop was still broken by sync errors and 'machineguns' ghouls. Anyway, don't get me wrong, you know this is my favourite iOS game. Connor must hate me when he opens his mailbox :p 'Oh, no! It's him again'

    Furthermore, the fact that the game has RPG elements, doesn't make it a RPG game. Same goes for Tower Defense or Action. The best thing of this game is precisely that, a combining genre ;-)

    Lol, it is just an example. Having in mind multiplayer doesn't make a game MP-oriented. Likewise, having in mind RPG aspects doesn't make a game RPG-oriented.

    Yes, lots of skills are balanced and some seem to even be PvP specific, I didn't mean to make it sound like the PvP mode was just slapped on there as an afterthought, sorry if it sounded that way. But from a design perspective, this PvP mode is a step back from the asymmetric, dynamic design that made the PvP in the first game so memorable.

    I'll admit that I haven't played much PvP this time around yet (about 30 matches), mainly due to lag issues and player inactivity. Might turn out fine, however, I can't ever see it being balanced without making the classes dangerously similar.

    The beauty of this game is the mash-up of genres, creating a genre in itself ;-)

    I wish there was a way to make the heroes of H&C. Maybe putting the heroes' armors and weapons in the game and make those equipment a tier higher than legendary, just an idea.

    Fair enough. But as another strongly opinionated person, maybe it's best to speak with more of an "agree to disagree" tone rather than passive-aggressively saying "someone's being dumb and wrong ;) LOL" with no evidence to back it. The ;) doesn't do anything for you except make you seem like you look down on everybody ;)

    Something like this is pretty stupid to say since it's strictly your opinion, especially when PVP is listed in ALL CAPS in the description of the app. A simple use of "I think" would make things a lot less arrogant.
