    There use to be an advantage to using them with sword strike builds, giving you the ability to get an extra perk without sacrificing damage. But now you're losing almost 100 damage going from 2 hand -> equipping shields (152 damage is the best 2 hand sword you can get).

    Heavy attacks are still pretty good, but we lost the ability to alternate between two attacks to "manage" the cooldowns, so that's sorta out of the question as well. Although I think that was a bug to begin with.

    Even if you build around Taunt and tanking up, there are still better options? Active blocking with shield is also not that useful given ARM does the same thing, except passively. And there's parry skills on 2 of the races, and the 3rd likes being hit :)

    Shield is a basic in most of my builds. Main reason is the active block, which saves lives. Wraiths can be a pain, endless/coop players know what I'm talking about. Armor can't block those, some of them dealing 250 damage (almost 1-hitting heroes). It's also full of disablers ranged mummys and magic goblins.

    The extra stats are a good addition aswell.

    A matter of preferences too and builds, of course.

    Talking about shields, in beta I had +6s block legendary shield which I was using with my knight, so it was actually even better. I could just alternate blocking and running which was pretty cool. I also had 40dmg (12sta?) rare sword and +80% mobility armor. I lost all of these to get my save to release version. The good thing about this was that I could go to my target without being hurt becouse shield blocks projectiles (no-shield blocking doesn't)

    Thanks for the update foursaken! After respecing my characters I've been able to find builds that really work with the recent changes in the big update before this one! I've even found a great grandmaster build that focuses on countering, but still uses the time slow skill. It feels a lot more fun to play now, since the game isn't perma-slowed.

    Really too many catapults. Why not just spawn more normal units, they are strong as well but not as annoying. Is the game supposed to be annoying? No.

    The Engineer would be a good Endless hero, but because of the mass catapults he can't focus on his buffed riflemen and dwarfen cannons. He can't run as well as other classes because he's a dwarf. He's supposed to stay at the gate, giving the wall more armor (buff), heal the walls (buff). Don't say use a rifle, it's not that long-ranged. Build mass miners? You shouldn't depend on one single type of unit... And if you do mass miners, you have even less room for dwarfen cannons.

    It's not a defense anymore with all those catapults, it's an assault.

    I saw it coming, to prevent it I said if you want to make Endless harder (which we all agree was necessary), do anything but don't do mass catapults. But you did... Why?

    I touched on the issue of gun ranges a while back. I really stand by it. Rifles should be comparable to that of wall units; it doesn't have to be as high as elven hunters or elven snipers, but the way it is currently is rather abysmal. The same goes for repeaters. I think blunderbuss should have the range of repeaters currently, repeaters should be stepped up... maybe 1750? Rifles should be like 2500.

    And yes, it's piss poor even with the engineer "range upgrade".

    Playing with a rifle you should at least have the option of staying back and playing like a long range sniper, but as it stands currently, you still have to be running around just to hit things. Don't give it enough range to hit across the map on wave 29 directly, but give it the ability to hit it from ~midpoint on the map.

    Having said that, I did notice that rifles got a slight buff to damage this patch.

    Wow that sucks for a legendary rifle. I have an EPIC +81 damage (i believe this was +67 or something before the last update), +20 AP, 0 STA per attack, as well as the 1500 range.

    So, for some reason I thought staffs were ranged and melee...but it seems that they are only melee. Is this always the case?

    They are melee unless it states "ranged attack" under the weapon stats.

    Yep. All rifles gained ~20% damage. Mine went from 83 to 99.

    Saved up about 1k crystals, hopefully 1.04 isn't too far away.

    I've just been playing outpost defense around the map and i have amassed 2300+ crystals. I get about 30-40 crystals per hour of playing (this includes those received from treasure chests and the ones that can be sold) which isnt bad at all if we are aiming for a few hundred for the new crafting choices.

    Jesus that's 60-80 hours of grinding for just under $40 worth. That's about 50 cents per hour, quite a bit below the minimum wage of everywhere on the planet. Hope you're having fun at least :)

    I'm still waiting for FM to quote one of us with a "just submitted the update!" post.

    Followed by a 2 week approval process.

    During which time android receives 1.05 :D

    I really enjoyed this game when it came out, but am increasingly less interested as the patches come out. So far, every patch has been a giant pile of nerfs, which makes me feel like I have to grind even more in order to make any progress at all. While there definitely were some exploits in the first release, I feel like FM has gone a little too far in the opposite direction for those of us who didn't go to lvl 99 already and who don't have thousands of crystals stored up.
