Oh yeah, for those who may have missed it, posted a really short GIF on Twitter teasing the first in-game footage - check it out! https://twitter.com/FoursakenMedia/status/552171390179483648
Thank you Foursaken this looks epic. You've taken one of my favourite iOS games (BH1 is in there also) and ramped it up. Please take my cash now!
Observations So in one shot is shows 0/100 units and the other shows 0/50 and 0/50.... One is an assault mission I guess where you take another castle? Also, dual wield looks powerful, but slow.. a charging attack? Can you do combos I wonder? That anvil, that is pretty cool... Wonder if he can craft things in the middle of the battlefield
Indeed there are different mission types which use pop cap differently. There are defend missions, assault missions, skirmish missions (no bases on either side), and attack and defend missions. Re: dual wield, attack speeds are determined by a number of factors. For ex, you can carry a 2 handed weapon in one hand, but it will greatly slow your attack (i think that the dwarf in the GIF is indeed carrying a 2 handed hammer in his right hand). Also, any weapon may inherently have a low or high weight value, with appropriate damage modifiers to go with them (high weight = slower attack but more damage, for ex). Finally, different races have different inherent attack speeds (dwarfs for ex attack slower, but have some small knockback and slightly more damage).
Well, there aren't really "modes" like there were in H&C1, so there is no longer a separate siege mode Everything is more connected in one giant game world now. For ex, siege missions are just regular parts of the game. So you'll defend your castle from waves, similar to the campaign in H&C1, but then you'll also be conquering and defending all the lands on the world map as well - but it will all be in a kind of singular game flow. There will still be endless, co-op, etc of course, as well as perhaps a few new surprises as well
Not really The waves are still separate, they just happen more seamlessly. So for ex, you start off walking around in your castle. You can talk to the blacksmith (equipment crafting), NPCs, the weapon master (unit upgrades), or the engineer (castle upgrades). Whenever you're ready, you can sound the horn and start the next incoming wave. Once you defeat that wave, there isn't any menu transitions... you can walk back to and around your castle, upgrade, talk, and travel to other areas on the world map to take or defend new lands (taking areas on the world map give different bonuses, like +crystals, unlock new units, etc - but they can be attacked as well once you own them). Whenever there is a mission available or one of your lands is under attack, you have a certain amount of "days" (represented in-game by battles played) before either your land is taken, or you must defend your main castle. It all just feels like one large, seamless game world now, as opposed to navigating a bunch of menus
I love the idea of taking lands to get bonuses so you upgrade those castles separately? Resources are shared for all of the lands? Any news about release? Latest info we've got was "early 2015" if I remember correctly
So these bits where you decide you want the next wave to come it sounds like that eventually comes to a win through defending or a loss. Is there any kind of endless version where it just plays until you lose? Even on C&C games I couldn't care less about winning I just played to build up a base no one could ever get into and defeat me. For me doing defences is more fun. But I loved H&C and can't wait to get this one now I've got the air 2 to try it out on.
