WOW okay, I'm picking up what you're putting down. That's crazy. Will units be customizable in any way or just upgradable? And how will special units be handled now? Will there be race exclusive units?
Units won't be directly customizable. There are a good bit more units in H&C2 versus the first one, so its very important that each unit has a very clear, defined role.
Thank you m'lords. I recently went down memory lane hacken an slashin to find one of my favz. It has that charge!!! feel to it, like you know your in for the fight of your life.
It will - actually thinking of some cool non-multiplayer ideas that might make it in at launch. We're making great progress... we're hoping to have an early beta (relatively soon) once the game is feature complete! More news on that soon...
I would like to try the beta, if it's testing. And I hope it's a premium version. Is it any different from h&b 1 ?
Yeah definitely - its a lot different from H&C1. We couldn't justify making a sequel if it wasn't going to have some major upgrades! Not yet... we'll announce it here when we're ready!
so, essentially, 9 different heroes to start that you can customize and tweak to your play style within that hero.... Sheesh. That's a lot ot variety. What's up with units, now? More of them? Can you handle more than the limits before on screen now by relying on stronger hardware? The battles in the first one are epic but epic..er... Is always good
Since we're eliminating iPhone4/iPad 1 and below, we'll definitely be increasing unit limits. On iPad Air we can actually have hundreds of units at once - but we still need to strike a line between actual gameplay (hero vs unit balance), all the device performance, and of course coolness and epicness But yes, battles will be bigger than the first. Also there are a lot more types of units to build in general, with many units having more specific roles. In H&C1 your hero was overly important bc there weren't enough units that did things you wanted them to do (i.e. units that would attack siege, units that would attack ranged units like longbows, etc). Now, we've got many units that are meant for more specific scenarios, which will increase the level of strategy required... shielders run forward to engage ranged units, blocking projectiles on the way; dwarven miners can burrow underground quickly to attack distant siege units; elven snipers will hit the largest and most powerful units first; etc.
I can't wait to be swinging my beastliness around outside my castle walls once again!!! I'll be ready for beta once it gets unleashed
So excited for this. H&C is the game that convinced me that mobile games can be every bit as good as console games. Hopefully this will be out for Christmas.
Questions will you add a first person option and will the system of picking levels be kept from the original
Mamamia Is this awesome game coming end of this year ? or next year ? cuz I really want to buy this as one of my christmas game ......hehe
Interesting fact, H&C was originally meant to be first person... problem is that it really took away from the character of the heroes, and was just overall less fun. Anyway, there's a lot of extra work that would be required to add a legit first person option at this point in development, so it likely will not happen. And what do you mean by system of picking levels? You mean like, choosing the level to play (just picking 1-2-3-4-5, etc in H&C1)? If so, then not really... H&C2 will be a lot more seamless, in general. For ex buying equipment, upgrading your castle, etc is done by talking to NPCs in your castle. Likewise when a new level starts and your castle is under attack, there isn't a menu for it, you just walk out of your castle gates and start fighting (although you can still replay old missions if you want). And then of course there are other lands you can take and conquer - each land on the map gives different bonuses while you own them; from bonus currency, to unlocking new units, to specific bonuses, etc. We haven't really gotten to optimizations yet, so I won't have word on performance until a little bit down the road. I don't think iPad4 should have any problems though running full graphics at 30fps.
