I've been spending quite a great deal of time with Bug Heroes II to pass the time. I just bought some diamonds and picked up the Stickbug Shaman. He seems like a buffed Moth, with spawning abilities.. definitely not the Field Mouse! One of the core "awesome sauce" factors in a Foursaken game is the abilty for this distinction and balance in classes and races. NONE of the Bug Heroes II bugs is worthless, though many tried to make that argument for Cicada. He is useful in certain situations like an enemy stash attack. Same with the Heroes & Castles I. Constantly, people railed on the Peasants. However, buffed with a Captain, Captain's Tent and the Monastery-looking thing (forgot what it was called, funny if that is the name!) A couple units of peasants, pikemen, captain was effective to send out around the map on Corte, to take care of snipers... as long as they stuck together Chock it up to the "chaos of war" for why they would split up, huh?
If this game has half the content that bh2 had I'd be stoked. I just hope you guys make out like bandits on this. Hope 1.99 will do that hah.
I did the same, except it was with H&C1.. I almost forgot about those white flashes while playing as engineer with maxed out criticals it hurts my eyes so much I hope it is solved in H&C2 ;D
Is the bug one of those large armored slugs? The dudes on the gyrocopters? Those are some major bugs! that giant spider robot monster in one of the shots looks like a major bug! Is that monster something you can build?
Hello! I'm still waiting for the beta here! Uhh....I'll just stay here forever. Don't mind me. Move along, nothing to see here.
Yeah, balance for these types of games have always been one of the most important parts of the gameplay, imo. Its really fun to try to get every cog working with each other just right - its almost like a puzzle sometimes Tbh its really taken a lot longer than I thought just to get a baseline balance in H&C2 just because of the sheer number of units, enemies, and how they all interact in the different game types. There's also quite a lot more variety in enemy behavior, from shield blockers, to charging enemies, fast attacking hit and run types, magic users, etc. I'm really interested to see what veterans of the first think about the new, more specific unit behaviors as well, which make it so all units are even more valuable, depending on the situation. Of course there is still plenty of leeway for different strategies and unit combos, don't worry As for beta, it hasn't even been 2 weeks since we started taking signups, so it hasn't been that long It is taking much longer than we thought though, and I apologize for that - this major engine change has been hell... introduced a lot of crashes that we were not expecting - if it weren't for the instability right now, we would've been beta ready 2 weeks ago >_< Good news is that when beta does start, the game will be that much closer to its final state than it would have been otherwise. This extra time while you guys are not in beta is not being wasted - we're still moving closer to release at the same pace - it just means that beta will be less about finding bugs (which we've been taking care of) and more about initial impressions, game flow, and balance... which is what I'd much rather use a beta for anyway. Just as a point of reference, I'd say we're about 95% done with the game... so yeah, we're close... just a little longer!
Wait a sec.....there are going to be more units? Combined with the enhanced graphic, my iPhone 4 will experience its biggest nightmare...
Niiiice! Cant wait to play another huge Foursaken Media hit! Good luck rockin the new engine, and keeping the game balanced! woohoo!
We're not going to be able to say until the very end... however there IS a chance iPhone4 will not make the cutoff >_< Historically we've always tried our best to stick with as many of the older gen devices as we can, but realistically we can only do that for so long - especially with graphically intensive games like this one... and iPhone4 is now what, 4-5 generations old? BUT, we'll do everything we can to make it run - I promise if its possible, we'll make it happen! The only thing I can say for certain at this point is we cannot support 256 RAM devices (iPod Touch 4, etc).
Maybe the iPhone 4 version comes with rebalanced gameplay with fewer troops? ...Oh wait, never mind that. Is it possible to add performance and graphic setting like in Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath? Settings for shadow, bloom, particle and stuff? Also, will the game comes in paid/deluxe and free app, just like Bug Heroes 2?
One thing that I always appreciated was the fact that you guys always tried to support as many generations of devices you could, but there comes a time when you just have to draw the line and move on. A iPhone 4 is about 4 years old now. In terms of mobile devices it should be extinct. @FM Have you guys made any decision on beta applicants? Have you notified anyone? I really hope I can help in this beta.
Even though I really agree with Fastbridge, it is not wrong to try to make the game compatible with iPhone 4. As a side note, if the iPhone 4 is hindering the game's progress toward release, it is better for iPhone 4 to be unsupported. Actually, if it can be implemented, please support iPhone 4!
