Well, you don't manually upgrade your outposts. At first you could, but we took that away because of their temporary nature (ie you may frequently lose outposts to enemy attacks). We didn't want people spending their crystals on temporary buffs - it ended up being that outposts were the absolute worst/last thing you'd want to upgrade compared to everything else you needed to spend your crystals on. But outposts do upgrade automatically with each successful defense. As for release, we'll have a better idea once we start beta. HOPING to start beta in 2-3 weeks. The game has ended up quite a bit bigger then we were originally thinking - but its definitely for the better! Actually, you "complete" the game by assaulting and destroying the main enemy castle. Defending against all the waves just opens up the ability to actually do so. So really you have to defend against all the primary waves and conquer most of the map in order to reach the enemy castle, destroy it, and beat the game - its quite a large campaign. But yes, there will definitely still be some kind of endless "mode" even after you beat the game, just like in H&C1. There will be plenty of content to keep playing after completing the campaign.
Words cannot describe how excited I am for this game! H&C is still my favorite IOS game. Any idea how much it's going to cost? I need to make sure I have iTunes $ saved for this.
Thanks for the reply that sounds awesome along with the price there. Although all the UK prices are a bit weird now....so many random prices lately.
Man, this game deserves so much more, dudes. Can't wait for it and that massive Block Fortress update! And there's GOT to be something else in the hopper, only one new game and an update is unlike the bros...
Wow. That's really cheap jeez. I guess you need to make it attractive to new buyers, but I would gladly pay way more than that. You guys deserve more attention so you can up the prices on your games, all of them that I've played (and I've played all but 3) are high quality games that deserve $5-10 at least.
Hey guys! Any idea if you can get this game to Steam? This sounds like a fully epic game and it would be awesome if I can play it on my PC. And $2 is really cheap, you guys should make this one more. I would be willing to pay anywhere up to $20 for this epicness!!!
Can someone please tell me how to enter the beta, I'm super pumped! I assume the Bros will be using Testflight?
Not quite sure about performance yet.... will be shooting for 30 fps (with low graphics) on minimum devices though. Yep, we'll be using Testflight for the beta. We haven't release any news on the beta yet though... we'll do it here as soon as we're ready to begin. No bosses per se, but there are a lot of huge, "boss-like" units.
Knowing these guys it may be too early to tell. But I am hyped for this game, like many others I loved the first H&C and Foursaken's catalog of various other games. I have faith that this game will be a smash hit!
Foursaken just gets it done. I couldn't even imagine what FIVEsaken would do... or... or... FORTYsaken. That just rolls right off the tongue, doesn't it? So, this definitely won't be a one play style wins all the time game? Sometimes, it seemed only certain strats in H&C1 could truly last the longest in endless... Also, are their different... races? Factions? Can I be a good guy and have a bunch of giant mech spiders and some dwarf gunners or do we get limited in our "tech trees?"
Yeah its tough to tell the final app size until the very end, as we usually have uncompressed and temporary files bloating the app during development. If I had to guess, I'd say maybe 500-600 megs, installed. We've always taken balance seriously, and it'll be no different here... one of the reasons we'll be doing an open beta is because of all the possibilities and combinations, so we'll need to weed out whats underpowered and overpowered. There are basically endless combinations in how to create your character (from equipment, to race, to mixing and matching skills from different disciplines). As for units, its not limited to race or anything like that (except one super unit per race)... it'll be similar to H&C1 in how units work. Though there are a lot more units than the first, and many units have more defined roles, which should increase the skill and strategy required to beat certain situations. For example the new Shield Knight will specifically target ranged units first, while the Dwarf Miner will hunt down siege. In other words, the units you will build should be more dynamic and situational, as opposed to "just mass your best unit and win." Yep, we're making huge progress - I'm sticking with the original estimate for beta, which will now be in another 1-2 weeks hopefully! We'll have info on how to sign up soon
