The reason iOS devices don't have more ram is because they never needed it. Android uses way more ram to run than iOS because it's not nearly efficient (i.e. Garbage collecter) with memory usage. Despite having less ram, iOS devices smoke android in performance benchmarks for similar reasons. That said, Not once did you bother to look at the specifics of hardware before releasing this as a $10 app? Come on now. I purchased your original HS game, and own a PC but after reading these responses here and FB I'll move on. To be clear it's the attitude towards the platform that bothers me.
So we have devices that can run Infinity Blade, Need for Speed, Titan Quest, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, Implosion, Banner Saga, Halo Spartan Strike, Dust, Shadow Blade, Brothers (hugeeee graphics), The Room, Lara Croft GO, Ridge Racer, AG Drive, NBA 2K16, XCOM Enemy Within, Anomaly 2 and so many others (don't speak for games like Chrashlands or Wayward Souls that fits on yours)and now we are learning that Apple stuff is low for Hero Siege!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's good... Very good... Please be honest... I know that bad carpenter blame his tools but at least be honest. You are speaking for one of the most popular handled gaming scene and the problem is the hardware??? Of course the ram is low for the money we pay but it is a quite well-balanced echosystem to work with.. Come on...
Guys I understand you're upset about many things with this game and developer, but threatening to pirate their game is over the line. No more of that sort of thing, please.
Ever think of asking for some assistance from other devs on the coding efficacy? This isn't the largest game on the device or even the only game made with Game Maker. It might not be practical or possible for you, which I understand. But this is a PR nightmare for the studio. A Google search could have provided you the tech specs for iOS devices.
....or they could have just walked downstairs.....by his own admission on the FB video, their office is above an Apple store! #
Wow thanks dev!!! That was a massive price drop!!! Thankfully I didn't buy it at the initial price!!!! Now I will!!! I am using 6s plus. Hehehhe..
Check it in app store not this touch arcade. BTW dev u are funny when u ditched iPhone specs and created a lot of comments about iOS vs android.. That's surefire way to create camps over a game!!! I was laughing hard at those comments..
It's should be 2.99 maybe due to timezone. He even updated the description to state anything lower than 2gb devices won't run the game..
Yup! Just wait a few more hours. I think the dev set a time on the price. A few hours to save 7 bucks.
I don't see any sense in buying a game reported broken as it is just in hope that it is going to be supported on the future. Even less when the dev abandoned the old versions. It is a shame, because the game seems very cool. Unfortunatelly I have an iphone 6, which seems a no-go.
If it doesn't support your phone now don't buy it.. That's would be very silly to do so. I am saying eventually it will support
So I fully appreciate that point of view, but as I'm new to the franchise and don't have too much of a stake in whether it succeeds, an alternative is for me to put that financial support behind a dev who is chucking out swift updates, engaging positively with the users etc. and go buy heroes of loot 2 Sorry, not trying to be antagonistic, just explaining why I'll be refunding.
This isn't the first foray with this title. If I remember correctly, this was a similar issue with the version that was pulled - game slowing down and crashing. TA has an awesome community that can offer advice. Reddit even has several threads on asset management. I am positive I even saw some tweets and post about GameMaker suggestions. Wether it is practical for them to do it on this system is another story. It's harsh, but if I told my supervisor - there isn't much I can do and I didn't know the tech specs for the devices I was releasing on, I would be fired. This title can be fixed and the dev does have a good track record with fixing it on Steam. So hopefully he can get this cleaned up.
I'm pretty sure Yoyo Games (GameMaker) would support any serious dev that asked for assistance relating to platform optimization. Perhaps I'm wrong, but Yoyo needs all the successful Spelunky's and Crashlands it can get; this is one they could brag about, but not if its only compatible with a sliver of the iOS install base.
