Game features include: • 12 levels to explore in new and breathtaking environments, thanks to high-quality graphics that have once again pushed the boundaries: leave the beaches of Sparta and explore the depths of the world. • Exclusive 3GS graphics create a 3D universe that is as realistic as nature itself, including unrivalled light and embossed effects. • An arsenal of new abilities and new weapons to help you survive and defy the most ferocious of enemies. • Only the most courageous warriors will enter the Arena. It’s up to you to show that you’re strong enough to take on the ultimate challenge!
Alright -- that looked a lot better than I expected. Wish it included in-game sound, because I feel that was the weakest part of the first game.
Gameplay looks awefully boring like the first one, I'm still waiting for the god of war clone or god of war itself. Grafix look sweet but that won't be enough. At least gameloft has 3 other games coming that look awesome. Im passing on this for sure
Reasonable impression from the video, but there are 12 levels. Perhaps things get better along the way...
Doubt it. For one, the Avatar engine didn't use dynamic lighting on the 3Gs. @Derochea72: you could very well be right (that the game is boring), but it's difficult to judge without sound.
I think the general texture resolution and polygon count is definitely higher than Avatar as well. Looks better than Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia too, although Hero of Sparta's art direction with bright colors and a stylized look gives it an advantage since it looks more generally pleasing. What Gameloft has been able to do with the PowerVR MBX in first and second gen devices has been very impressive over the last 2-3 years, but I'm thinking we're only now scratching the surface of what the PowerVR SGX in third gen devices is capable of. I can't wait to see what a third gen exclusive title with no backwards compatible baggage would be capable of.
Have we actually seen many of those. Most so far have been upgraded iPhone titles or something like Mirror's Edge which was really originally developed for iPhone and is iPad exclusive mainly in name. In any case, both the third gen iPhone and iPod Touch and the iPad use the PowerVR SGX535, but the iPad has to drive 5 times the number of pixels. The iPad GPU is no doubt clocked higher, but not 5 times. So I'm thinking if there is going to be a graphical tour de force on iDevices, it'll be on the third gen iPhone and iPod Touch and not the iPad. Even the 4th gen iPhone will likely have less power per pixel than 3rd gen devices if it uses an underclocked Apple A4 but quadruples the pixel count as speculated.
Where the ipad excels is in not having a need for backwards compatibility constrain its potential, in contrast to the 3rd, and soon to be 4th gen iphone/IPTs...
New screenshots from ispazio: http://www.ispazio.net/101969/heroes-of-sparta-2-provato-in-anteprima-da-ispazio-il-re-argo-torna-dallinferno-ma-non-sara-solo
I wonder if these screenshots are from an iPhone 3GS or from an older device since I think the graphics shown in the Touchgen gameplay video on a 3rd gen device looks better than these screenshots, particularly in texture detail. Or maybe the game looks better in motion.
The concept of dragging the attack button for combos is actually pretty ingenious. The graphics look rough, and way too bright, but I'm just going to assume, for the sake of retaining my excitement, that these screenshots are from a fairly early build.
