After some days this has become my 'to go' game whenever I have 10 minutes. I LOVE the quick random battles versus the AI...so much variety and fun, in a short time span. Has replaced old 'drugs' like Ascension, Nightfall and Hero Academy (completely different games obviously). I can't even imagine what can happen if dev add async and I can bring more friends playing it (even if I'm convinced most games will be played online without interruptions async is too convenient to miss).
I'm working on the async guys! Pretty excited with the challenge and the opportunity to make this happen. Will keep you updated on the progress
Ross, great to know! I had been playing this on my Android phone, and yesterday I decided to play it on my desktop - the web version - and I decided that it would make a lot of sense to have it on my iPad as well, so... I double-dipped without any sort of hesitation. This game was meant to be played on an iPad! Is it reasonable to expect that the IAPs for factions will be cross-platform, tied to our multiplayer account? Can't wait for future updates -- and even though I've played a few solo and online matches, I'm still to beat the "Duel" Tutorial! Darn that Albirich guy
All IAPs are tied to your multiplayer account, not your device, so you can use them on ANY of your devices including web, iOS, and Android oh, FYI, at the terrible risk of embarrassing you, there were a couple of 9 year old girls at Adepticon that played the tutorial and owned Albirich Gotta say it was pretty cool to see them pick the game play up so quick. Kids these days are geniuses. We've got to a play a match one day soon!
You, sir, are an evil evil and soul-crushing person Let's just hope I don't run into those 9 year old girls online, otherwise I might have to give up on Hero Mages for good Let's indeed play a match one of these days - I saw you yesterday on the lobby, I had left my browser on while playing a single-player match for practice By the way, I searched but wasn't able to find an answer. I'm assuming the Assassination is to kill the Mage, and Elimination is to kill all? Cheers, Paulo
Yes, and there is Mage Duel too which is pretty cool (you use only one Mage, no guardians). Played a lot solo today and some fast (1 minutes turns) online games. EPIC. SIMPLY EPIC. I must confess that if async was already I would have played MAAAAAAAANY more online games. CAN'T WAIT.
Slight feature request: Could we get a screen flip/rotation option for us iPhone users? Also - the game does not respect the mute/ringer switch (meaning that having the switch off doesn't mute the game's sounds.)
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I can add flip/rotation - I'll work on this sometime after the async multiplayer is finished. Good to know about the mute button. Is this a physical switch on device? Is there a similar mute/switch on the iPad?
I believe there is a similar button on the iPad, but in the iPad you can choose to set it as a mute button or as a screen-rotation lock. So, for the specifics, there is one button in the iPad, but I don't know if it triggers the same hardware interrupt code.
I had the opportunity to play Hero Mages on the new iPad today. O_O What a difference!!! Aside from very specific games normally I prefer the iPhone but...wow. Not only the redesigned UI makes a ton of difference (love the cards always at your disposal) but I noticed TONS of graphical little details I cannot notice on iPhone...those sprites are really detailed down to the faces that look up when you select them.
Yes, I second that. It's like having a living, breathing tabletop RPG on your iPad Pitta, I'll probably drop you a PM or something (can GameCenter send messages to friends?) either tonight or tomorrow night so we can play again. Hopefully I won't arrive home overly late in one of these days, and we'll have the chance to play again
It's a physical switch. On the iPad it can be set in iOS Settings to be a mute switch or an orientation lock. (iPhone4: that's it on the left) Here's an iPad:
Nice! How did the game handle the resolution on the new retina display? Were buttons/icons scaled to match pixels, or was their noticable scaling. I haven't had the fun of testing it myself yet
No noticeble scaling as far as I saw. I played only a short time tough. I'll try to secure an iPad from work in the week end and see again. Aside the obvious UI which is completely different (for the better), the thing that stroke me was that graphic seemed much more detailed than the iPhone where I normally prefer playing even if I have access to several iPads. Very few games did that to me and I really didn't expect that from Hero Mages. It was really like staring at a tabletop with cartoon-like miniatures. I loved it.
Awesome, I'm so glad to hear that: this was the intention, afterall! If you can, take a screenshot on the device so I can take a look.
