It's technically available now (if you've previously purchased it), but official iOS support for expansion content, including In-App purchases and player-reward purchases, will be coming in next major release (v1.8). Not sure yet how long this will take- but I'm aiming for early summer this year!
Oh yes, they are random. In fact, there's a little utility on the Hero Mages forums you can play with that actually allows you to generate mock battles against different units (10,000 battles) and see what the statistical outcomes would be. Dice are an interesting mechanic- I've seen players in completely desperate situations pull-through on sheer luck. It can be irritating when you have a bad streak, but, man, is it exciting to to survive a near-death blow and then come back and win the game!
Thanks for all the great feedback, everyone! I'm starting to fall in love with the iOS community. The response I've gotten in the first day since launch has been overwhelming: the iOS app has already sold more in 1 day then it did on Google Play all last month. I mean, this is extraordinary- more than I expected- so kudos to you players for getting the app and sharing all your thoughts! I'm hearing a lot of strong feedback for asynch multiplayer - thank you for informing me what's important in your purchasing decisions. Honestly, I didn't realize how crucial this component was. Now I'm thinking that I may have to revisit this sooner than later and see if I could maybe support it in the next or following release. Is there a way to generate a poll? I'd like to know in what order people value the following so I can adapt my development schedule accordingly: A) Async multiplayer B) Expansion content support/player-reward system/bonus content C) SP Story campaign
Single-player campaign (it doesn't need a "story", could be essentially random battles, just needs to be a curated set of missions with an overall goal and corresponding restrictions).
That's it, I give up, I can't wait any longer. all made by one single man! You sir now have my money, (well apart from the chunk apple steal from you) I'll post my opinion later tonight. The order I'd go for stuff would be Async multiplayer Bonus content Story mode I'm buying this mostly for single player gameplay and quick battle style matches are good enough for me Im not always interested in a story so much as want to dive right into the gameplay.
I hope to buy in the future additional armies from no more of $2 each because $10 it is just too much !!! Being the game just $3 I suppose the armies will be around 1-2 bucks each pack right?
+1 on the Async! With the absence of a fully fleshed-out single player campaign, the only way I'll play this is async. Just don't have the time, nor the faith in an uninterrupted connection, to buy this on the strength of full on-line sessions.
Well my prefered order would be: 1.Bonus content (characters especially ) 2.Story Mode 3.Async multiplayer Thanks for all the answers and involvement with us fans
My guess would be async multiplayer is probably a LOT of folks top priority for you. In mobile games, async can be a critical component due to short time spans in which to be able to play as well as connection reliability. Personally, I prefer synchronous gameplay, but that is a personal choice because I prefer, when I game, to play a game start to finish. It can be annoying and frustrating to have to wait for the other player, sometimes for many hours or even days, to make their move. Again, just my personal gaming style, even on mobile devices. Great game, congrats. Q
Single Player Campaign for me. Then Bonus Content and waaaaaaay down the list is asynchronous multiplayer - so far down the list I can hardly count that high... More that number 10 at least!!!
1) SP Story mode 2) Async . . . 3) (way below) bonus content Could exchange 1) and 2)....and eventually playing the story mode campaign async with friends. I greatly enjoyed the tutorial and the story bits...I found odd reading that there is no more story after the tutorial... The game is really great but without async (to play with friends) or a SP Campaign the actual app has little interest to me. And after trying the browser version I really want you to have my money Hope to see more from you!!!
Thanks so much for the positive feedback and support everyone! This has been really helpful to me, and with such a dedicated and responsive community here, you can bet I'll be working twice as hard to crank out these updates. It's interesting so far to see that Asych is clearly trumping Content when it comes to your gaming needs. I'm starting to feel pretty strong about changing my development cycle to make Async & In-App purchases the top priorities as it sounds like this will make the most people happy.
I have to say this game really impressed me, the gameplay is terrific and with online multiplayer and skirmish, this is a real must-have game for every TBS lover out there. And yeah, we want async online (BUT with time limit for every turn, you can check Ascension TCG game here in iOS as an awesome online multiplayer) and IAP expansions and content! yay!
I'm gonna bite, because I want to support this developer.... ..but PLEASE get with a campaign OR async, fast. Either or. 'till then, I'll make due w/ the skirmish.
Ummm, I think it's safe to say that in-app purchases are the least desirable AND most maligned of options. We want a campaign WITHOUT paying more than the asking price. Traditionally, "freemium" games that have IAP's are acceptable, but folks who pay full price expect a fleshed-out game. Food for thought, Cap'um.
