Hi Darth. MrMojoRisin has it right. If you're looking for a long and story driven campaign, the best advice I got so far was Battle of Wesnoth, which you can try out for free on your PC/Mac, since it's open source. It's a good game on iOS. Also, if you wouldn't mind changing setting to Sci-fi/Warhammer style, I would strongly recommend Hunters: Episode One/Hunters 2, since they are similar in nature to this, though 1 doesn't have a campaign - just 5 daily challenge levels every day, where you earn XP, build up your team, customize it, etc. - and 2's campaign is fun, but I hear it's also not that long. Hero Mages is fun for Multiplayer, certainly, but there currently isn't much in terms of single player content. Really - you'd be sort of disappointed if you expected a real campaign here, it's really more of a tutorial, I believe 6 "stages" total (did it a while ago), with what amounts to probably 3 real battle scenarios. You do have the option to play offline as many duels as you want, and customize them at your will, but I get you - without a campaign, it's hard to have the incentive to just play offline one-off matches every time. Hope this helps! Cheers! Paulo
I would like to chime in and say Hunters 2 is probably my favorite game of the year so far, I've already over 70 hours in it. Hunters 1 didn't hold my interest for more than a week, but Hunters 2 is still my most played game (even over the massive Final Fantasy Tactics). For some reason...the short campaign did wonders to make me feel attached to the Hunters, and then I enjoyed immensely playing the daily 5 contracts...since forever till I maxed out everyone. Can't wait for their next effort, Warhammer Quest. BTW I take chance to ask at which point is the patch...game is still unplayable in ios6.
Yes, I can't wait for Warhammer Quest either As for Hero Mages, we still have a game going on Pitta - I'll wait for the patch to come out Cheers!
Ya thanks, I guess I'll keep waiting until a longer single player campaign is added. When I said WoE I meant War of Eusatrath as the other game I was goon to get. I don't know if it has online but I know it has a long single player story etc.. I also have FFt and Ravenmark that i still have to finish so I might hold out on getting any stategy games for now I dunno..
Ah, no problem whatsoever, please. I'll wait until it gets fixed, I'm not going anywhere @darth: as for WoE, I heard it's a very cool game, I'm sure you won't go wrong with it. Still, Hunters 1 and 2 are currently both at 0.99$ (or at least were yesterday), so you might want to check them out, honest. Cheers!
I have submitted fix that will enable game to run in iOS6. Pending review from Apple. Hopefully only a few more days!
FYI Touch Arcade users: Hero Mages is free to download on iTunes for a limited time starting NOW! "Hero Mages is FREE for a limited time | Brought to you by 3 Magic Shots. Download 3 Magic Shots to get more awesome apps like Hero Mages for FREE" Spread the good word ~Ross
Steal for a free. I was disappointed by limited single player initially but am re-downloading to check it out again. Any chance for a more robust single player?
This is probably my favourite iOS game of all time, I bought both expansion sets and I've played so many games In single player skirmish mode it's untrue.
So it has been a very long time since I've logged into these forums to post something, but I quite like this one. I was wondering if there's going to be the possibility of a legitimate campaign? It'd be even better if it supported co-op play in the vein as Pocket Heroes, since the gameplay in this one is a LOT more interesting. I think an asynchronous multiplayer co-op campaign option would be absolutely incredible as a DLC, and would effectively remove Pocket Heroes from my device. Regardless, a very fun game! Thanks so much.
Found this game while searching for another. Wow! Looked great and I bought it to try and also support the single dev. Played the tutorial and it is amazing. Looking forward to playing more later.
Really nice combat and combo-tactics, also pretty good interface, when get accustomed to it. But yeah, +1 for campaign
Can't believe I've never come across this game before - thought I'd delved the depths of all decent tbs/rpg games on iOS but apparently not. As a 4-5yr old game, how does this fare on newer devices with larger screens? I'm using a 6S - are there black borders? And is it worth the full asking price this many years down the line? Thanks.
Hey guys, developer here! I wouldn't let you down: 64-bit support and a key bug fixed in the latest Hero Mages update. It's still a great game; sorry I've been away for awhile. I have a great story to share about that with you. I haven't forgotten about this thread and what we've discussed here. The feedback I received from Touch Arcade not only led to one of the best features in Hero Mages (asynchronous multiplayer), it also helped me keep the dream and passion alive. I'll be posting something special on TouchArcade soon. I look forward to catching up!
