Hahaha You certainly have that one covered But yes, you certainly should play more iOS games. I think I emailed you about it, but I'll mention it again: you should check out Summoner Wars, because it does look to be right up your alley, and it actually shares some similarities to Hero Mages.
You're not stupid. Due to it's cross-platform nature, Hero Mages does not yet integrate with GameCenter. I have been looking into integrating Game Center and social networks like Facebook, Twitter, etc. for future versions. For the moment, you can invite any player who's registered a Hero Mages account by adding their username to your friends list. This can be done both from the friends list and from the invite friends to play game setup screen. I know it's not as convenient as tying into existing friends network, but at least you have an option to play while I'm still developing. Just a single dev here doing all the design and programming...
Hi Ross, Just thought I'd let you know that I still have problems at the 'processing request...' prompt. While attempting to purchase everything there is to buy (I haven't actually seen what's available yet) I get to the register/log in screen, enter my details and the 'Processing Request...' overlay appears and seems to permanently try to process. Have tried: uninstall then reinstall, reboot, cleared all apps from task bar on both a 3GS and an iPad 2, both with a strong connection. Anyways, love the game so far and as I said, just letting you know.
This bug still elludes me! I will push an update that adds a "close/cancel" button to the processing request prompt. I have not been able to reproduce this issue, despite many users reporting it. Is there a way to completely uninstall a game? Remove all profiles/data associated with the app, and then reinstall? Perhaps something in the previous stored data causes an error that keeps the prompt stuck there. Most users report success with a full uninstall (remove app completely from device and iTunes), then redownload and install. I'll get that update soon, but it will need to go through another Apple review.
Hi! While you are at it, I would like to say that the 'muted sound' doesn't mute at all bug it is still there (If I'm playing in the night and I mute my iPhone, music still plays). Anyway...I have played just some async turns due to my lack of time but I can say the game has a complete whole new appeal to me. I wish it had this out of the box not to loose momentum...but considering it has yet to be noticed by many websistes, this very one included, maybe it's the perfect time to do a bit of marketing On iOS it just miss proper notifications and GC friends...other than that it is quite perfect.
Yes, the muted sound issue has to do with the fact that I am still using AIR 3.2. I believe this is finally fixed in AIR 3.4, but Hero Mages is, at the moment, incompatible with this version of AIR until I figure out what bit of my code is disagreeing with the new runtime. It may be a few months before I can that fix implemented. Glad you are enjoying the async gameplay! I must say that I personally have about 20 games going right now and I am just loving it. I've always enjoyed playing the game, but with everything I have going on, just feel guilty breaking myself free for an hour play session. With the async, I can jump on whenever I have a free minute and take turns for a few of my games. It's awesome!
I really love this game, and not only does it have cross platform asynch multiplayer, but you can start a game on one platform, and continue it on another platform! Genius! Also, I love the fact that I was able to get all the units for a grand total of $7 instead of $20. Thanks for that! And this version is also the most complete one to boot, having an actual single player mode. Thanks for that as well!
I would like to see added this too In the notifications (email for now, real ones hopefully soon) I would like to see the name of my opponent. When you have multiple ongoing matches is something nice to have. When opening the app...I would like to be already logged in. The added Multiplayer-Log in taps are unnecessary. It would be cool having, in the email, a link that open the app and goes into the active game immediately (maybe this is impossible now, because you won't know how the recipient will play). Having great fun btw, thanks!
This may come as a shock, but sending emails is actually quite expensive. For this reason, I limit the message to (1) notification as a reminder that you need to visit the app (and may have more notifications waiting). If someone takes turns after your initial reminder, it won't send another email until after you log in (similar to how Touch Arcade doesn't email you for every post, only to let you know that there are new posts waiting for you to view).
I've heard reports from a couple users that Hero Mages is incompatible with iOS6. Any users here with iOS6 run into any problems with the game or does it run correct for you? Please let me know. Thanks!
I can confirm it doesn't work. I can hear the sounds (like the flickering torch) but all I see is a gray screen. If I press where buttons are supposed to be I hear the sounds, but I just see a gray screen and done black squares.
Same problem for me with iOS6. Just a grey screen with some odd graphical popups when I touch the screen.
Nooooooooo it doesn't work for me on iPod 4G with iOS6. Argh hope it's an easy fix. I just get a grey screen with sounds, same as the peeps above.
I've been interested in getting this, how long is the single player mode and how active is online multiplayer? And is it good enough to warrant the 3$ Is this game anything like Rune Radiers or Hero Academy? I like the idea of the dice and stuff but nothing to complicated but enough to where it can still be immersive. I'm really kind of wanting something with a long and story driven single player but I like the look of this game and am wondering how good the multiplayer is... Having a tough time deciding between this And WoE
Right now, the "single player" in this game consists only of a tutorial "campaign" which is not that long and skirmish fights against AI opponents. But it is awesome for what it is, and the multiplayer is great, now with asynch play.
