Mine also wouldn't work after updating, but deleting and re-installing fixed it. Was able to buy the IAP's and start an Async game :)
    Been waiting for this.

Pitta: I sent you an invite a few days ago for a match, so I'm expecting we now can finally play some proper async matches :)

Is it just me but everytime I start up the app it's not remembering my password? I have to re-enter it everytime.

Regarding the map editor, once you have created a map can you use it to set up an online game?

Cool, thanks! I started the match, and made my move. Then it went to your turn, but it seems you skipped it, so I skipped mine again.

In case you did it on purpose, let me know. Or, in case you don't see the game, then it might be a bug - I got an error message saying that "Can't create game" or something, since that number had already been taken. Ross: do you have good mechanisms for implementing concurrency in getting new game ids?

Also, more often than not when I finish my turns I go back but it still says that it's me playing. Then I reopen the game, it shows my last movement, and then I have to click "Finish turn" again.

    Cheers!

Well, thanks, it was a mistake...it's been a while so I have some rustiness to clear :p

    You know what's cool?
I can start a game on iPad, play it on iPhone, and finish it via web.

The game (on iOS) now miss just proper notifications and Gamecenter friends.

    It's been AGES I didn't played a play-by-mail game too!!! :p

Oh, it's certainly cool! At home I play on my iPad, during the day I can use my Android phone... It's very cool :) My main gripe is actually the mail notifications, but it's a minor one.

I agree, it would be best with push notifications. Especially since I don't have push email alerts (to save that extra bit of battery)

I started a game this morning but the other guy still hasn't taken his turn yet. So im still waiting for my first Async game to start.

Bought the IAP's though so I'll have some games against the AI to get used to the new people.

Excellent! It seems this fix does work for the moment. I'll address this problem in the next update by adding a cancel button to the processing request prompt.

Check your junk email in case it got caught by your filter. If you still need help resetting your password, just shoot me an email and I can reset it manually.

Absolutely! Custom maps will appear in your map list below the default maps.

Yeah, this is a weird iOS/Adobe AIR thing. Password fields just type invisible characters for some reason, but it is there ;)

Each game creates a unique record ID. I believe we're currently somewhere in the thirty thousands. Whenever you load an async game, a new live game room tied to that id is automatically created. You would most likely have received that error message if another player had loaded the async game record at the same time as you and the room was still being created.

FYI, this same mechanism also allows you to seamlessly transition between async and real-time gameplay, a feature very few (if any) other games support.

I'm still working on iOS push notification support. The latest version of Adobe AIR supports push notifications natively. The only hold up is figuring out how to get my Smart Fox Server to send the push notifications.

Quite a few, with iOS classics Carcassonne, UniWar and all Playdek games (Ascension, Nightfall and Summoner Wars) as notable examples. Properly designed, there is really no transition between real-time and async, just an async mechanic that kicks in whenever a player is unavailable for her turn, added on top of the realtime engine.

That said, this feature is a great boon to players, and I'm glad Hero Mages features it!

Now that you mention it, that is true, and it even signals if the other person is online or not - that red/yellow/green icon on Summoner Wars and Ascension is exactly for that.

Still, yes, that is very true - it's cool that Hero Mages has that.

Aww, and I thought I was special... clearly I need to play more iOS games :p

Alright, riddle me this: How many of the above mentioned games support cross-platform multiplayer with iOS, Android, and desktop?
