How does one know these days whether a game is saved to the cloud? It seems iOS 8 changed everything, so new games don't show up in the "Usage" list. It drives me crazy, bc how else can you tell if the cloud save worked?
I haven't played battle gems but this is one of my favorite games ever on any device or console. I've been a gamer since pong. I don't DL any games that have iap unless they have a full unlock option... As @l.lawliet said this will also remain in my iPhone indefinitely! I hope the developers add more to the game and I haven't even come close to finishing it yet. I've taken it slow since I love it so much!
yay for "casual" mode! I had to start again losing my 15 hours in, but i can't afford to get angry/stressed from games too. Really happy about this, glad i purchased day 1
Just beat he final battle again, to see what happens without the ending crash. Well, it seems the game doesn't save after you beat the game, because opening my save file reveal the it is in the same state as it was before the battle. Anyway, 35 hours of this game, it was worth it. Moving on.
That's a shame. Can anyone else confirm this? I don't want to keep playing that battle over if it won't save when I win.
Games still seem to show up in the iCloud usage page on iOS 8 for me. I just tried the update of this game though and enabled iCloud, and this game does not show up in the iCloud usage. I also tried enabling iCloud syncing on my iPad, and the game save does not show up. So in the case of this game, I think it's not showing up in the iCloud usage page because iCloud syncing isn't working. Other apps I use where iCloud sync does work do show up in the usage page. That's too bad since iCloud syncing was the main feature of this update I was looking forward to. I mostly play on my iPhone but would occasionally like to continue the game on my iPad. Has anyone else gotten syncing to work yet?
Hmm maybe it's something wrong with my phone/cloud, then. Or maybe it's specific to certain games? I've had games that use iCloud not show up on my usage list but if I delete and reinstall the game, my save data loads. Monument Valley is one example. The devs of MAMBC told me their game uses iCloud, but it doesn't show up in my usage, so I've been afraid to delete the game.
Works perfectly here. After enabling icloud save (on both devices) you will see a cloud icon on top of your local save. If you press the save, you will asked to continue with the local one or the cloud one (if different). Same on the other device.
Thanks for the response. Where do you see the cloud icon? Is it above the three save slots, or on each save slot? The only thing cloud related that I see in the new version is the iCloud Sync checkbox below the three save slots. I have it checked on both devices, and I know iCloud is configured correctly because iCloud syncing works with lots of other apps.
It's on top of each used save, near the time played. I think you see it only the first time or when there is a conflict between local and iCloud. If you press it you will see BOTH saves (local and iCloud) and you will choose. Now I do not see the cloud icon anymore, but it syncs correctly (just tried).
Here's a question: I've sunk WAY too much time into this game and hate to upgrade and then maybe lose my progress. To any that have upgraded... Did you unexpectedly lose all your progress? Can you start a new save for "casual " mode? Thought it was worth asking as I've been burned by updating in the past Thanks!
Some info about 1.02 version Hi all, I would give some more info. about the latest version (v1.02) 1. Casual Mode. You need to start a new game, then you can choose the difficulty - Casual/Expert Mode. The Expert Mode is the original mode. The casual mode is a easier mode. It is lower some values of enemies. But the most different is you can keep the EXP/gold/items gaining from clear waves. I mean anything you just get from current wave still be lost if you failed. So if you just steal something from the boss, you will get it only when you clear the boss wave. 2. iCloud Sync. It works when : a. iCloud is enable on your devices. b. iCloud Sync is enable in game. c. The most important thing : It will start sync until you play the specific save slot for a while. it syncs the save slot one by one. If you just enable the check box without play the save file. you just get nothing. The cloud Icon on save slot will show when there is a different save data from iCloud. It means you have play the save slot on another device before. So now you could continue the cloud save on current device if you want. Hope this info is helpful
I checked off the cloud sync, played a bit so it would save, but I don't see it saved under "usage." Should I?
great update to possibly the best mobile game I've had on my phone. it definitely has the most hours I've put into a mobile game. I am totally stuck at Coral Cave on my original game and have no options except grinding up my xp. No grinding for money cause I have all the skills/emblems available to me at this point. I'm restarting on casual, keeping the other for jump starting a second play through. ;-)
Thanks Pitta and Ginokuo, I got cloud sync working. I must say its not the most intuitive way for iCloud syncing to work, but once you know what to look for it seems to work fine.
So does the cloud save only work for two devices? Not planning to delete the game, but if I have to make room, it would be nice to know my data's in the cloud.
It doesn't show up under iCloud usage for me either, even though I know it's syncing because I successfully synced between my iPhone and iPad. It's not an iOS 8 specific issue either, because my phone is still at iOS 7 and it doesn't show up in usage there either. Other games I've played recently do show up under usage, so it must have something to do with the way Hero Emblems is using iCloud.
