Finally finished Tower of Deity!!! took me forever to figure out how to beat the boss. This game is amazing. Got my vote for the game of the year already!
Absolutely, I keep playing because it's a challenge, and I know the challenge is not engineered to sell IAP.
I loved this game up to the point of 15 hours. Now it is becoming tedious. Kudos to you guys who have 30+ hours into it and are still enjoying it. I just beat the relic of gods and the minitaur just after that. I have 19 hours in and I feel 10 of that at least is grinding. I didn't mind the grinding at first but now it is just a chore. I am to the point of just wanting it to be done. Imo 20 hours would be a good length for this game. My guess is I am about half way through and there is no way I am going to be able to withstand 20 more. Am I correct with saying I am half way through, or am I closer to the end than I think. One thing that would make the long journey easier is if you kept your gold and experience when you die on a story mission. For me anyways.
My first game was 40 hours and involved grinding (and a lot of backpedaling). My second game was 25 hours and I didn't grind at all until near the end, when I was low on gold for the last couple of emblems. Going in knowing what to look for and what to expect made it a much faster game.
First game approaching 50 hours and on the last castle. Just finished 1 of 3 rooms. It's challenging requiring some grinding, but still fun, no matter how frustrating.
Game Impressions My review after 30h. It's a great game, but there is too much grind / luck involved. I would recommend to anyone to play it, but I would put a warning that this is not your usual game difficulty. I am at High ground wind (something like that) and I begin to think the game is based around luck. I either try my luck for 2-3h at a dungeon or I grind for 2-3 hours to be able to beat it. This was the same case with the previous 3-4 dungeons. Yes, I love the game and I do intend to finish it.
I think High Ground of the Wind is the one exception, which I think is entirely based on luck (at least for the first two turns). Even if you have all of the emblems up to that point, the enemies all attack at once and unless you can get at least one S. skill off by your second turn, I don't think it's possible to survive. Maybe if you use a potion? I prefer to start over rather than use a potion on my second turn. I think the rest of the game is fair, though, with the right amount of luck and strategy. Sure, those keys can be difficult to get, especially if you have a lot of Debuffs in the way. But at least you can go back for those later.
Stuck on the Dragon in the Star Room which I note is vulnerable to Ice attacks so swapped out all moves to ice attacks and lost my confusion which I miss as so helps me get to him - Should I use Superior Upgrade or Superior Purify as I am taking in 4 top level crosses.....Always seem to just end up with a tonne of frosted items and little health
I think you just gotta exit the battle and lose progress. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I've gotten there once (skeletons locked up most of the board) and I'm pretty sure I couldn't move anywhere. Most games I've played have had an automatic reshuffle that takes care of that.
Maybe it's getting confused, it doesn't take into account the locked tiles when working out if you have no matches or not?
No, it is actually possible in this game to not be able to make any matches. If the whole top of your board is blocked by locked tiles, then no more tiles can fall, so you can get into a state where you're just out of moves. All you can do at that point is what rpgmind said, exit the battle.
Wow love the cool monsters jumping on a ship animation, top notch app. Can you use a cross to fix the locked tiles across the top?
Yes, that would work. The problem comes when you're out of crosses, out of matches on the board, and the whole top is blocked by frozen tiles so no new tiles can fall to create new matches. I've only had it happen once.
At the moment, not really. Many of us have replayed the game to get things we missed the first time and to get the "preferred" ending. But there's a story mode and then that's it. (At least for now.)
I am not sure if this has been posted yet. From the developer's Twitter account, an update being worked on: https://www.facebook.com/HeroEmblems/posts/1574854622753505
