What is the small icon above a mob that you're fighting that has a number in it and a type (like ice/fire/etc)? I can't figure out if that means they're weak to it? Resistant against it? And what's the number for? Totally digging the game -- although I feel like even 6 hours in, I've barely scratched the surface. Also -- does anyone have suggestions or strategies for getting to the chests? It seems sometimes I get them in two or three turns, and other times, it just doesn't happen, and the key get stuck one above the bottom.
Though there is some planning you can do, there is still a fair amount of luck involved with getting the chests e.g. if you end up with chained tiles in the key column, you are probably screwed. I've found it can be really helpful to save S-tiles (5 in a row) at the bottom of your board to help clear that last pesky tile, though the key will have to spawn in an adjacent column for that to work. Your first time through areas though, save those S-tiles for the boss and don't worry so much about the chests. Blue chests won't respawn after you open them (unless they are mimics) and contain things like skills, emblems, or higher level items. Brown chests usually just contain gold or low-level items. You can always replay the level and come back for the blue chests after you've beat the boss. I just replay the level until I finally get all the blue chests, which also nets some good experience and gold.
That was a particularly evil area. I guess it had to live up to its name. Took me like 15 tries to beat. There are some pretty serious areas later on, but I think your skills improve by the time you get there, and you learn from past mistakes (at least I did).
So I guess it doesn't save the spot that you left off. Wish I knew that prior to closing the game when a boss was at under 5% hp...
That element actually is showing the elemental damage you are doing to the enemy and the number is the remaining turns left for that continuous damage (like a poison effect). These elements will only show if you have a super charged tile (for instance making a T shape match - just matching 4 in a row will not be a super charge). Hope that helps!
I missed out on them myself, but according to others who got them, they're at Poseidon's Relic and Cave of Conch. I recommend reading through my basic guide if you want to avoid missing important things. It's a mixture of my own experiences as well as tips from others: http://www.appunwrapper.com/2015/01/09/hero-emblems-walkthrough-strategy-guide/
Hm I just finished using Heist on those stages but I am still missing Alston's 6th emblem. Does anyone know if that one was supposed to be robbed? I got all the other tier 6 items.
Finally finished the game after 46 hours. The game always crashed when it showed "THE-END ~a1" though; is it how it is for everyone?
I think the developer said that's being fixed in the next update, along with iCloud saves. So I guess we'll all have to replay the last battle.
I am sorry about the crash. When you see the "The End ~XX", you just complete the game. Then it should go to the title screen, but this version may crash when go to the title screen.
I know I'm early on, but the red devil in the cave just screws me up so much. The enemies hurt sure, but once I get to him, one hit brings my hp down like half. Should I use potions and stuff, or am I doing it wrong or what?
Loved this game! However, I have to disagree with anyone who thinks there is grinding in this game. Yes the game will take you a while to beat (took me a little under 35 hours), but I never did anything but follow story plot points or repeat any levels where I was not able to get the blue chest/gnome. Anytime I came upon a new area with a shop, I always had money available to buy at least one but usually two emblems. As I completed story quests for that area I either earned enough money to purchase the rest or found them in chests or from defeating bosses. As far as the difficulty, if you cannot defeat an area then you have chosen a bad set of skills for that quest. I found the only time I failed a quest (maybe a dozen times if that) for the whole game, it was becuase I did not have the right elemental skills for a boss. Other than that the game is about using skill to make the right decisions during the game (this has been discussed multiple times in this thread so I won't list them here) and have the right skills equipped. Sure there is some luck involved with the random tiles appearing, but almost every board allows you to set up an optimal situAtion for the problem you are dealing with at the time. As far as skills were concerned, I never found the need to use anything but purify for the healers normal skill. I normally only used purify for her s. skill until I discovered two places where it was required to have revive to make it through certain branches. After that I kept revive and used crosses from my inventory to removed debufs. Once I had it, The paladin always had a shield that stopped debufs. I like the counterattack shield but it lasts one round less so after a couple tries I settled back to the debuf shield. one normal skill that no one has mentioned using which proved invaluable to me toward the end of the game was the kinght's vampiric sword (especially the strong version). When I go the the final castle I was able to defeat he three rooms and the final fight on the first try by having the combination mentioned above mixed with the correct elemental attacks for the end boss (it was pretty easy to guess that ice would be the weakness for the sun room, etc.). Also I was able to do all of this with only the paladin and the healer with the tier 9 emblems. The other two were only tier 8. So no the game is challenging in the sense you have to figure out the right way to play to win but not unbalanced and difficult like some are describing. I am sure there are other combinations jaunt as effective as what I had but if you are finding it too hard especially at the end, I hope this can help you out. Loving the multiple endings which could really impact how the story plays out when new content and/or a sequel comes out. No one has even mentioned anything like the ending I experienced but it was quite a game changer and has the potential to really change how the game continues to play for each of us if the developer decides to implement the branching story lines into the next content. Sorry for the long post, but I hardly ever do anything but lurk so I have been saving up
I like Vampiric Sword, too. Once I got it, I rarely removed it. I only really removed it when I noticed a lot of enemies in a dungeon were immune to it and it was giving me trouble. But it definitely saved my bacon a bunch of times when I just couldn't get the hearts together to heal. It means your Attacks are weaker, but I found it worth the sacrifice.
It's true that a number of bosses were immune. However, all fI the bosses in the final castle and the final battle were not immune so it was pretty much a walk in the park combining that with stacking revives and activating debuff shields whenever possible.
Ok so here is what happened for my ending: Spoiler I did not let the guardian beast (can't remember his name) live and I chose to go after the final soul instead of save the king and princess first. As a result the king dies and the princess is killed during the ritual to bring the evil lord back at the end. The crystals from the guardian spirits "come to life" and seal the evil lord. Final scene shows everyone back in the kingdom and a letter from the king reveals that in the event of his and his daughter's death, Elsa is to become the new ruler because she is His daughter when he had relations (in case we have young readers) with a goddess. So Elsa is now the ruler of the kingdom and the king and princess are dead along with the guardian beast. And of course the evil lord has been trapped in the crystal seal (but is it over...?)
