How do you upgrade your emblems? I see you can buy new ones, but can you upgrade the levels of existing ones? If so, I completely missed how to do that.
Sorry, poor choice of words. You can't upgrade emblems, just buy new ones and equip. Each time I've bought new emblems, it has more-or-less doubled the attack/defense/healing power of that character. Even just having one character upgraded can make a huge difference. The opinion around here seems to be to upgrade the paladin first.
Ohhh, that makes more sense. Ok, I'll try to focus on that. Some of my guys still have their original ones. Thanks for the input.
Also make sure you don't accidentally buy the same emblem twice since gold is so hard to come by early on. On the shop screen, if you highlight an emblem that you don't already have, the character at the bottom will get excited. If you already have the emblem, they won't do anything.
It took me far longer to realize than I would like to admit that I was just going up and down the Tower of Deity... By the end even the monsters were probably going, "It's those guys again... maybe we should tell them how stairs work?" Beat the boss on the first try when I actually got to him XD
As far as I can tell I'm addicted to this game. Have been since the beginning of this thread and release. @AppUnwrapper: I know you were writting some sort of strategy guide I think for this game. I just wanted to add a few things if you haven't added them yet. I have gone through and gotten all the blue chests I could and found a skill for Howard called Heist where it steals an item from an enemy and deals not much damage. I have found that I try and steal from anyone I can lol. I know it takes a S-Skill to use so it's tough to do but from everyone I've stolen from I make sure I can steal from each boss I see. I found that the Ogre you fight ends up giving you the "Emblem of the Mithril Knight" for Howard before you can buy it and it saves you 4000 which is a ton in this game Everyone else I've stolen from gives you potions of some sort. Bosses give you the upgraded version of the potion. Greater Red (1000 hp) or Greater Green (800 DP) or Blended Potion (400 HP & DP) or Silver Cross (8 debuffs) Still haven't been able to steal from a treasure gnome yet sneaky bastards don't stay long I don't know if this helps anyone or not but I'm trying. For those who think this might be too difficult to try please give it a shot this is the best $3 I've spent in a long time. I've put close to 10 hours into it and I'm still on the second continent because I'm grinding away for fun and excitement and getting everything I can. It's very enjoyable and satisfying. I love me some match-3 games and this one takes the cake. The no IAP sold me and the dialogue is hilarious and gameplay smooth. The challenge is just right and worth the price for sure.
Is there a shop I missed between the tower and the two sea missions that come after it? I can get the bell just fine, but the monsters leading up to the conch are brutalizing me before I get anywhere near the boss. Should I be spamming crosses and purify to clear the board, or are there emblems after the 8k ones and I'm just missing them? Thanks!
I just added this to my review, because it really is the thing that wasted more of my time than any number of defeats by a boss. It's starting to frustrate me to no end that I can't tell if I missed an emblem or skill somewhere. "After investing another 15+ hours into the game, my only real gripe is that there's no way to tell which skill/emblem loot you missed other than playing all the dungeons over until you know you've exhausted them, or someone else tells you they found something there. I would love to see a system put in place that tells you what you missed, just a small marker like a star. This would make a huge difference."
I went back and found heist, and got a few advanced potions and some crosses from basic enemies. But I find it too big a sacrifice to take into a big battle with me. I'm also still not sure whether the stealing from the boss is actually getting something you wouldn't get anyways by defeating that boss. If someone knew for sure, that would make a world of difference. But still...if you steal from the boss and then he kills you...it wasn't really worth it.
I've made it a habit of always stealing from bosses. It does make the game a lot more difficult as one boss took me over 30 minutes with failing 4 times. 3 times I died normally, once I reset killing the boss with no 5match power up to steal, and the fifth time I finally did it. I noticed some mini bosses are hit or miss. Some I've stolen from only gave me a potion... Same for some blue chests in some dungeons just drop a big potion. I guess being surprised is all part of the fun
i hope the devs are laughing maniacally at all the people complaining about difficulty, and they don't dare tweak it any easier. i think we really have been pampered too long with farmville style idle games where simply putting time in means you progress. you need to focus on buying better emblems, and you need to figure out matching strategies. once you get that going, it's fairly rare to die in a battle (i'm in middle of 3rd continent, fwiw) and if a battle is being a pain, grind a bit, and grab some items. if you're still cheesed about losing a dungeon, go grab your freemium match-3 of choice and have a blast. this is a wonderfully refreshing game. best since puzzle quest. (to the devs: i'd love the ability to highlight an enemy to see his health for better move planning)
I'm guessing you're not as far into the game as I am. Right now, a potion isnt worth much for me. I've started buying four Omnipotent Crosses (6000 gold each) before I go into battle. Any potions or weaker crosses I got from stealing would just get scrapped. So early on, I can see Heist being useful when you're short on cash...but late game it's not, unless you can get skills/emblems otherwise unavailable.
Only january and it's IMO a great challenger to be a contest for GOTY 2015 ! By the way, I'm only at beginning but didn't manage to defeat the second boss (guardian beast or minotaur ?) I have two emblems for the witxh and the swordsman.. Is there any tip ?
Hey sorry maybe I didn't word it clearly enough or you were misunderstanding. I was explaining that bosses are hit or miss meaning they can give you something good or give you a potion. Yes I'm probably not as far as you but I was simply helping you by explaining that some bosses give you equip items and some give you potions. You don't need to explain to me how much you're spending on your items since mine are so worthless in comparison.
Are u serious with all the 5 star reviews!!!??? I got stuck in Crystal Caves, I tried to beat the boss for 1 hour, failed each time. If u fail, u get sent to the beginning of the caves with zero of the earnings from playing the caves. The only option seems to be to buy emblems, but there is no way to do it other than grind random encounters on the map, for pennies. Weak design IMHO and such a cheap way to make the game artificially longer.
What I meant is, are you sure the equipment you're getting is something you wouldn't normally get from the boss anyway? Some mini bosses and regular bosses do drop emblems/skills. No one has been able to verify yet either way. That's what I'n trying to find out. If you only really get potions/crosses from it, then the skill is not worth it later in the game. I wasn't trying to say your items are worthless. There was a point in the game where looting potions would have been helpful. The question is whether Heist is worth using if you don't need the potions.
The overworld is the WORST place to grind. It's much better to go to the last level you had completed and grind there. Also doesn't hurt to revisit previous levels to make sure you got all the blue chests, but that early in the game you probably haven't missed many. I was able to beat the crystal cave boss with only one upgraded emblem.
Holy mother of god. I may be willing to revisit that question about difficulty. Small spoiler ahead, as there's no boss in this video. Just regular mobs wiping the floor with me.
